About 8 years ago my dad called me to have me check out his new bike and it was a valkyrie.. never seen or heard of it before and he said make sure you get on it..I was really impressed and it was so comfortable..such a cool sounding motor too..I can only imagine it with a turbo
Love the sound of the Valkyrie. It really takes some doing for a power wheelie on a bike this big without a handful of clutch. I’m very impressed and look forward to seeing more of your work
I cannot see the reason for so many thumbs down, just a nice ride. I have had mine new since 97. 3 quick gears to 80, a few more seconds to 130. If you want to get into trouble "you can".
Great vid, would have like dto be able to see the actual turbo setup. Just out of curiosity, I have a '98 Valk that had 38,000 miles on it and I triked it about 18 months ago. Is it normal to get some clunk when you shift gears and some gear whine? I have no experience around Valks, but have had several Harley big bikes. I had a '73 FLH with a 4 speed trans that sounded like you hit it with a ball peen hammer when you shifted it. The Harley guys I talked to said they were all like that.
Virgil Caine is my name I think I have a couple other vidoes of this valkyrie that may show the tuebo setup... I don't have the valkyrie at the shop anymore but I think I do remember the transmission being clunky
Love the extra clocks can't get them in the UK. Mine has the cobra 6x6 ,oh my God everyone knows when I hit the road. Had super bikes for many years, this bike is a sheep in wolfs clothing upto 130. Cornering is the thing to be aware of on these gorgeous bikes
TheThirdSun I build custom tuebo kits, this is one I built for this bike. that gt2860r is a very good turbo that is great for all kinds of motorcycles from hayabusa to hind valkyrie. but they have to be mounted higher than the oil level. Mr tuebo used a areocharger turbo on a valkyrie from what I have seen
The turbo sounds awesome, definitely a healthy setup you've got there. What size/make turbo is it? Come spring I've got a GL1000 I'm going to be building. It's in pieces, but all is there minus wheels and carbs. I'm thinking about the Randakk dual Weber setup but I would LOVE to boost it. Are those newer 6 cyl GW engines better for boost then the old 4 cylinders?
It is not my bike, but I did build the turbo kit for the bike and I tuned it. It's home is in Colorado....it made 182 hp on the dyno at Sturgis this last year, stock they make about 100 hp....before this 6 cyl engine I had only turbocharged inline 4's....Btw the turbo is a garrett gt2860rs. that turbo would probably be a decent choice for your 4 cyl version if you wanting it to boost in the higher rpms only like I did on this valkyrie, that way the drive just like stock around town...might look into a gt2560r or smaller if your wanting to boost sooner, think smaller turbine housing....
ya, I was noticing that in the video. most time "lag" is the last thing you want but I understand completely. If I was to boost a bike I would still want to be able to put around without getting into boost. Of corse it would be nice to have boost even at low RPMs, if I wanted that I'd look into a belt driven procharger kit. I don't know how the internals are on the Goldwings but I'd say if you was in boost constantly it wouldn't last long. May be wrong, but i like how you had it setup there. Takes a second to come online, but when it does I bet your ass is biting the seat
+Will Spicer boosting down low can end up with a bike the powers like a 2 stroke dirtbike, I like to have a nice fun ride, you don't have to fight this bike constantly to ride it. very easy to ride. on the highway, it instantly hits 4 psi when rolling on the throttle to pass a car and boost climbs from there...it was a good planned build, turned out exactly as I wanted....
Hey Brother, I have a supercharged valkyrie, but mine does not idle as well as yours. What kind of carb do you have? Did you add a fuel pump? Can you pass any special mods to enhance the operation of the Supercharger. Best Regards, John.
Very carefully, actually the valkyrie carbs are notorious for needle and seat issues. mods internal are a must and even then they are pita. A custom fuel injection setup is the way to go....
+Mark Hardy yes I know all the tricks, I'm a good personal friend of Attic Rat on valkyrieforum.com....that won't work on a blow through carb setup because the fuel system is not gravity feed anymore. must run a pressurized fuel system, fuel pressure must increase while the boost increases inside the carbs otherwise boost would make the fuel flow back into the tank. does that make sense? the valkyrie carbs bodies are just a bad design, there is not enough room for the floats to move. I don't have issues with other keihin carbs I have blown through...
+Mark Hardy the valkyrie stock has 6 carbs so I guess I'm confused on your question. I modified them for "blow through" for the turbo upgrade. look up my latest vidoes and you can see that I made a custom fuel injection for this same valkyrie....
The only Valkyrie/Wing I've ever seen (pictures or in person) crazier then this didn't even look rideable. Dude had dual superchargers on each bank with a turbo aswell. Again, probably just for looks. My original idea was to use 2 of the smallest prochargers made and just custom make a bracket. Run them through a single carb, again like Randakks conversion.
anything over one turbo or supercharger is gona be for cosmetics and show. I can make as much power with a one properly sized turbo as two for alot let money and less complicated....may not be symmetrical but I like the fabricated look over manufactured anyways.....
No power wheelie heavy bike ,nice cruiser, sweet sounding engines those honda boxers if they could rev to 9000 rpm they would be awsome, but it is designed for cruising 😉
waited until the end of this very boring video to witness the "power wheelie" . Did the front wheel lift 2 inches off of the pavement?... I don't know. I want my 3:53 back! PS, rider, where are your gloves and protective gear?
If you would have read the description before watching the video you would got the idea of what to expect from the video....How high does the wheelie need to be in order to be classified as a power wheelie? This is not a clutch drop wheelie that every valkyrie under the sun can do. I doubt you will see many, if even one other, Honda Valkyrie that will pull the front wheel off the ground under engine thrust alone.... Thanks for your comment
Hey, can you do video with acselerations ? I understand... speed limit, another f..king bastard things. This sound of blow off and acseleration.. its invaluble. A dream...
Rolf sørdal anybody can clutch wheelie any bike, this is a power wheelie. at the top end of first gear. you can see the handle bars rise above the horizon. it's not a huge wheelie if that's what your looking for. this is a just a show of raw power. your 100 hp interstate might wheelie at the top end of your 1st gear on power alone on the Internet but in reality that's false....
I'd say you had a lot wider range of turbos you could use compared to a "normal" motorcycle. With it being a 1500cc-1.5L engine it's the size of your average Honda Civic lmao. It sounds more like a boosted car instead of most turboed bikes I've heard
sound wise, it helps the the turbo is sitting next to your right knee while riding the bike! sounds awesome in the bike...you should seriously look into microsquirt and building your own fuel injection or that's something I can do for you....I have converted 2 bikes from carbs to fuel injection now and I'm hooked
I watch the whole video. I didn't see no wheelie perhaps he stretch the front shocks a little bit. But you cannot do a wheelie on a valkyrie they are too heavy they will just spin the back tire. I own one
Jim Brown definitely not that same. At around the same time I turbocharged this bike, I had also turbocharged 2 gen2 hayabusa. Both were short wheel base and ridiculous with only 8 psi of boost
If there was a tad more pure exhaust note (less compressor surge) this sounds exactly a Boosted boxer 6. Poor mans way to obtain the sounds of a turbo 911?
Alexander Helton:If you NOTICED where the cam was (next to the fuel tank ) you would then realize why there was more comp noise than exhaust, maybe if Mr Moody had put the cam next to back wheel it might have been a little different, but visually not so much, i personally thought that it was awesome.
It is a cool bike but calling this video roll on with power wheelie is an under statement. The front wheel leaving the ground and inch or two for less than one second is not a wheelie. I did better wheelies on my stingray. One gear, all legs and arms.
