Yea, they almost made it out, but poor little Powder Jinx(ed) it. That's so sad. Violet and Powder had such a beautiful relationship. Any fan of the game knows it gets ripped apart, but seeing how it happened had me so tearful.
I also winced at how she literally could have just THROWN a crystal and exactly where she wanted the explosion. Those things are amazing at being grenades, and she instead uses way too many of them, and puts them on an unreliable timer involving an unreliable toy…
After years of waiting, this is all I have ever wanted. It was a show of passion and love and care, not just another cash-grab series to sell merchandise. I can die in peace now

Notice the parallelism between the hextech working for Jayce but destroying jinx's family confirming Heimerdinger's point that the magic crystals can lead to destruction.
@@anon6187 there's lots of symbolism in Arcane and I love it. Another great parallel is when Wander told Vi about responsibility and goes to show how to uphold it by sacrificing himself when he turned himself in, but then Jinx does the opposite of what Wander was trying to teach Vi where she destroyed everything that mattered to her because of her selfish desires to feel useful. I think Arcane in general keeps balancing messages about selfishness and sacrifice like this, and it keeps the characters and their choices constantly interesting, such as Jayce on the one hand striving for progress and wanting to save Viktor but also understands that hextech can be dangerous and needs to be regulated. I also love how the story humanized Vi, Viktor, Jayce and Caitlyn. They're all incredibly likable and I really enjoyed the relationship so far between Caitlyn and Vi. Jinx is turning into a villain so she's obviously becoming more unlikable, since as opposed to the other main characters except maybe Viktor, her characterization develops her negatively. I'm sure we'll see the same happening to Viktor eventually. Another thing I like is how the characters are all so incredibly strong and keep finding ways to solve their situation without external interference. Deux ex machina do happen, but they don't at the point you expect it to. I agree with Necrit. This is actually one of the best series I've ever seen and I'm not even a huge lore buff. It's probably better if you know League, but even if you don't I think not knowing anything beforehand can also give a freshness to the experience which also can't be replicated.

@@mrmistah5126 I loved the game but toxicity has many forms and only one type gets punished which is arguably the least impactful although annoying. They literally only punish players who abuse chat. I could literally hard int down mid for 100 games in a row and the only thing you lose is lp. You will never get banned inting which gives alot of power to people who want to control a situation. Their balance can be funky at times for sure but they just don't address major issues and try to show they care by putting bandaids rather than fixing it at the core. I will agree cinematics are outrageous, music is hit or miss for me.

Honestly, I think the most impressive thing in this series so far is how compelling and sympathetic Jayce is. Jayce has always been a contentious character and it's always felt like Riot never knew what to do with him, and it always felt like he could never be a fan favorite. But here they give him some compelling motivations and interesting relationships. He's actually someone I want to watch and even root for!
I cant wait for his reaction when viktor becomes what we know him as. It will such a heavy moment, his partner becoming a machine from technology they invented
I think its good so far but if they keep him oblivious about the wrongdoings his stuff did to zaun, it'll be right back to contentious. His plea where he talked about how good piltover was made him seem like a good guy at heart but super uninformed.
Jayce is the reason I got to diamond. I used to spam Tryndamere and when he got hard countered by the likes of Quinn and Vayne, I started using Jayce to level up the playing field. After that I broke my platinum plateau. Always been my second fav champ after tryn.
Absolute favorite part in the end is when Jinx hugs Silco, he gets confused, Jinx tells him that Vi betrayed her and is no longer her sister and Silco realizes that this is exactly how he felt when Wander betrayed him, immediately symphatizing with her and embracing her. Embracing her not as "hurr durr I am evil and will use you in my evil plans of evil muhahahaha", but as a person, who experienced the same exact pain in practically same fashion as she did. T H I S I S I N C R E D I B L E . I put all 10s on iMDB for this show, and I didn't even had an account there before.
What blew me away is how every emotion was so perfectly conveyed to the public. The very first scene where Vi sees her dead mother and breaks down in tears moved me, which is a feat! Usually, this sort of very early exposition doesn't really work beause you're not attached to the characters and you're just like "eh, typical 'protagonist with dead parents' trend", but here you already felt for Vi and Powder. Also, the strong symbolic when Vander drops his gloves. The mix of fury and despair in Vander's last stand, Jayce's resignment as he's about to jump... And also all the subtle expressions: Powder scoffing at Mylo after her target shooting, Vi showing her "shut up" look to Mylo, Viktor cringing when Jayce asks him if he's sure about his theory... And of course, the last scene which was absolutely heartbreaking: "I only wanted to help... I only wanted to help!" from Powder. I also liked the foreshadowing and the nods to the future champions: Mylo saying Powder jinxes everything, Vi saying Powder is a jinx, Viktor making fun of Jayce's pride because he signed every single page of his notes, Viktor and Jayce mentionning a Crank to harness magic (Blitz means storm in german, which is kinda appropriate to the Arcane storm they create later on), and also Caitlyn's brand new theme playing when Jayce metts her under the rain! And yes, the pace was perfect.
Do u play league? cuz if so i think that might influence the fact that u feel emotions so powerfully, because even if u don't necessarily like the characters that are displayed, u still sometimes play with/against these characters (or champions) and that already gives u some kind of link. Risky but powerful move by the creators of the first scene. (theres a lot of ppl saying they can feel the emotions rly powerfully, the same goes to them). If u don't play league, than its and even more powerful (yet even riskier), because they immediately managed to instil empathy.

The facial animations and raw emotions are so insane. You can tell how these characters feel without them even speaking. I've waited 9+ years for this, I'm so happy.
Its true, there is so much happening both visually and just in the writing that says things without even SAYING them. I think Necrit said during the stream, but I agree that there is barely any expositional talk, and when there is, it is interwoven with character moments or done visually. So good...
HERE'S A LIST OF ALL HINTS POINTING TO VANDER BECOMING WARWICK - Vander being called the "Hound of the Underground" - Silco calling him a "lapdog" of the up-siders - When he was being dragged in by Silco to their hideout you can see metal claws being forged similar to WW's - When Silco dragged him to be tortured unto a chair you can LITERALLY hear WW's blood-scent skill theme playing in the background - His transformation, it seems the syrums effects is different depending on the person, Deckard never growled like an animal when he transformed instead he sounded more screechy while Vander made more animalistic and wolf-like growls when he took the syrum. - If you followed WW's old lore Vander literally said a line to Vi that goes "You have a good heart, don't ever lose it" which is a call back to his retconned lore where he was supposed to eat Soraka's heart to complete his wolf transformation. - This is a quote in WW's lore "Warwick struggled to recall a single memory from his past... All he could see was blood. But then he heard a little girl screaming. Screaming something he couldn’t understand. It sounded like a name" (if you know, you know.) - In Greek Vanders name means "Good Man" or "Family Of". In WW's lore there's a quote that goes "Singed would reveal his subject’s true nature-the deadly beast hidden within a “good man.” - Vanders flexor muscle on his right arm was cut by Silco, hence why he wasn't able to choke Silco to death. And when Vander transformed he used his left arm to kill Deckard, my theory is that the "prototype" syrum doesn't heal past injuries but only the more recent ones. WW's right arm is also the arm that was mechanized by Singed. - When Silco stabbed Vander in the back we see Vander turning to him with an incredibly feral look, so full of rage, hate and probably fear on what's to come if he's not able to kill Silco, this is a quote in WW's lore "A chemical chamber was installed on Warwick’s back and integrated with his nervous system. Whenever he felt rage, or hate, or fear, it would drive liquid fury deeper into his veins, fully awakening the beast within." (If you've seen the WW cinematic the chemical chamber basically stabs him in the back and drives in the "liquid fury" into his nervous system.) - WW's quote to Vi in game "The fear in your eyes. I've seen it before." (When Vi saw Vander transformed by the syrum at the end of episode 3). - WW's quote to Jinx in game "You were there..." and "Let me forget...". (Yeah you know). - WW's quote when taunting in game "I ran these streets - now it's your turn to run." (Vander ran the streets of the Lanes). - In the events of act 2 we see Singed repeatedly saying "the mutation must survive". Vander in all sense of sorts had the most drastic mutation when he took in the syrum, Deckard and those shimmer addicts at the last episode of act 2 turned out to be more like screeching zombies. And basing on Silco's reaction when he saw Vanders transformation during act 1 it was unlike anything he's ever seen in Singed's trial experiments.
Spoiler-ish, but Deckard is not dead tho. Dead-brained junkie with rotten teeth and eyes facing elsewhere, but alive. He had just beaten his ass to a pulp.
SPOILER in later episode, when viktor(or silco to heal jinx, i forgot) visit singed we can see an arm in the ceiling with claw, it looks like WW arms, and it make sense that singed started working to make WW already as the time is limited since vander died/dying.
The variance of level between ruination and Arcane is so massive that it seems impossible that Riot could make such an insane flop before such a completely mind-blowing animated series.

@@kyleganse4978 He isn't in the series, but there are also demons in the lore of Runeterra (League of Legends World) and Fiddlesticks is one of them, he is the primordial demon of fear and torments his victims by telling and showing them what they fear the most. When Fiddlesticks interacts with Jinx in the game that's what he's saying: It's all her fault.

I watched it yesterday with my dad who's 70 and loves fantasy novels. He knows nothing about League other than I play it, and he loved the first 3 episodes. Especially the world building and setting. If the series can make my old man who knows nothing about the game like the series so much, it just shows how much of a masterpiece the show is.
PG 16... Riot clearly knows that the League audience isn't just kids anymore... that they're kids who grew up on League. Even with only the first 3 episodes, I was absolutely mindblown with how good the series already is.
If I were a parent in the right mind I wouldn't let my kids touch this toxic piss pit of game , this game isn't for kids and not because of the gameplay but the community
@@theprofessor2403 Thats not how it happened , at least in the lol universe page , jayce refuses to speak up to the injustice that was giving the credit of creating blitz to another dude instead of his real creator viktor and after viktor trying to help others with machines it was exiled because of the ethical implications, in zaun viktor tried to help people and stole a hextech crystal from jayce. jayce then killed those innocents, so jayce is a fool in that story. (dont think the story quite match with arcane)

Theyre not involved with the project i think just the streaming rights so its basically all riot and fortiche. Netflix always gets the credit on great shows they stream that they never even cared about before the trailers come in.

In the scene where Silco’s goon is dragging Vander to that chair, right after the burly woman puts out her cigarette, you can hear a metallic groan that’s pulled right out of Warwick’s theme!
The scene where Jinx invention works and the destruction it caused juxtaposed with Jayce and Viktors discovery about how to control the hex crystals was absolutely brilliant. This series is all about the duality found in relationships (Jinx and Vi, Silco and Vander, even Piltover and Zaun) and it’s absolutely amazing how well these relationships are written.
@@mistercat5300 you will probably be surprised by Victor. In the game he's portrayed as evil, but in the stories he's a good guy just trying to help people. He's very opposed to the glorious revolution for example.
Also another piece of evidence that points to vander being WW is the music that plays when silco says "I'll show you what you really are" and drags him to the chair. The music is warwicks W hunt music albeit not exactly the same.
Also when he takes the purple stuff i believe they either tried to mimic warwicks voice , or used the actual voice actor. He sounded so much like Warwick

I loved how Silco took Powder in after he glanced at Vander's corpse. That tiny detail that he saw himself in her cuz a man he called brother left him too.
Things I absolutely love. -The consistency between the show, and the lore we've been provided. Just look at Warwicks lore and compare it to Vander. -How unbelievably hilarious Viktor is. The scene at the door just had me and my friends laughing so hard.

@@roughnegg6615 to be fair, Viktor didn't change with status according to his lore. He was thrown out of piltover because he believed removing human error from processes is what saves lives, piltover people considered his work unethical and in violation of human rights, believing that this "error" is where humanity gets its creativity. The even bigger change to him happens when he tries his premises on himself, altering parts of his body and brain in order to remove pesky emotions and human error from his work. Which is when his vision became a lot more obsessive and fully became the "glorious evolution". If anything Viktor changed after he lost everything and was thrown back to Zaun. Where he decided the only way others would follow his vision is if they saw it at work, so he gets to work on altering himself. He's kind of the prime example of "living your work". Jayce is more of a what power and money does to you character. P.s. I also think that choosing to work on himself speaks to his character a lot, instead of just doing experiments on more unfortunate people in Zaun as a lot of other do.

Comes to show how Riot has been setting this up for quite a while. Obviously since making an animation of this scale takes ages not only in the artistic side of things but also the boring legal side where you have to do the marketing and all.
@@OverlordNix For me, it points towards Piltover giving up on Zaun altogether, seeing how the inevitable uprising of Silco will make Zaun grow beyond their control, which already seems to be build on a very tenous peace between Vander and the Chief of the Enforcers. Silcos uprising will be squashed by Vi, Cait, Jinx etc. but will lead to the Chem-Barons like Singed and Urgot filling the power vaccum left behind by Piltowers withdrawal. There is also the possibility that the unleashing of Victors warmachines, Camille and the Chembarons meddling in the power struggles of the Undercity and beasts like Warwick and Mundo will plunge Zaun into a state of perpetual chaos, justifying the anger many Zaunites feel towards Vi.
My mom was a league player since 2019 and I played around 2016. We watched Arcane together and at the very end of Episode 3 I remembered her saying "I wanna marry the writter of this story!" I was like, I can't agree with you more. 🤣

Okay, two things: 1. That was so clearly the realm warp that (not) Ryze used. But does Ryze not need to weave the runes because they are tattooed onto him? 2. Jayce and Viktor creating Ekko’s Parallel Convergence bubble was most excellent. God, I love this series.
Regarding Ryze it makes a lot of sense since the travelling mage was holding a rune to activate unlike Ryze he friking has it engraved all over his body. The madman has been surviving centuries.
Honestly, this series is perfect, but it had me so goddamn heartbroken. Both Jinx AND Vi deserved better and none of them deserved the grief and trauma. This is the first time i´ve ever sat in front of my screen and just wanted to hug two fictional characters and tell them that it´s gonna be all right.
This series has made a few things crystal clear in my mind. 1. I REALLY want jinx and vi to have some kind of closer with each other. 2. Viktor is a mother fucking real one for saving Jayce from what he was going to do. 3. I might not enjoy the game as much but the world of runeterra is by far, above and beyond, my all time favorite universe and the team that did this hit a homerun. P.s. I really mean it, I hope to God that video and jinx get some kind of closure but I know its probably not going to happen. 😔

If you look deeper Jinx actually creates alot of champs other than just singed. If you think about it, she was responsible for Jayce and Viktor aswell because if she didnt blow up his room, Jayce would never have teamed up with viktor and its possible he would never have made that breakthrough for hextech. Also, Because of the arcane explosion mixing with the purple chemicals The seeds of chemtech were planted, and BECAUSE of that singed, WW, and possibly urgot will be created n their current LoL champion form. Oriana was also possibly created if you read her lore about a mysterious explosion that happened in zaun. And of course there is Vi becoming an Enforcer and Ekko's motivation to become who he is now. I could be overstretching a few things, But Jinx importance and that explosion in particular is what interested me most about this series. Of all the things they could have done for Jinx it was a pleasant surprise that this was their direction with her, and most importantly she has no idea what she has done and neither does she care(atleast not post powder as her character of Jinx). Very Joker esque without blatantly being the Joker with a backstory just as tragic, i love it. I alway's hoped for ages now that Shaco just became the joker of league and Jinx was the harlequinn, but here Jinx might just be Piltover's/Zaun's Joker instead.
You forgot to mention camille. Jayce‘s break through together with viktor will allow not only orianna and viktor himself but also camille to become a cyborg.
@@SunsetTwist As a normal person or possibly partly augmented (don't know if they already did this in Piltover before Hextech) but she doesn't have the Hextech Heart yet, Hextech literally doesn't exist yet apart from one device at the end of Act 1.
If you listen to Vander's grunts at the end when he's purple, it sounds just like warwick's grunts. I just cant believe that Warwick is anyone but Vander.

A lot has been explained in the series already. Why Singed has bandages, how Powder got the name Jinx, how it is Powder's fault, how Vi's full name is Violet, and how she learned how to punch with gauntlets.
The voice work is out of this world, when Powder at the end starts panicking and breaking down I felt actual pain because it sounded exactly what a desperate child not wanting to be left would be. I almost cried in so many points throughout just those 3 episodes. Cannot wait for more
Warwick has the line "I ran these streets" which seems awfully similar to Vander who runs the lanes (basically the streets). Provides more evidence that Vander could still be Warwick
I really hope that if this succeds we will get more of these for the other zones,the art had me sold when i saw the 1st trailer,i always loved that painted style Dishonored had.I was not sure about the story tho but that too blew me away and considering how much cool lore they have it would be a gold mine
my favorite part of the plot is how in Zaun (the default "lower" city) everything goes downhill as plot progresses while in Piltover ("higher" city) everything improves, which in its own makes the difference between two so unmanagebly huge that it leaves the outburst to be a matter of "when", not "if"
I wouldn't say everything improves over the course of the plot in Piltover. Jayce almost commits suicide because the council doesn't approve of his research, Caitlyn is disallowed from seeing him because her parents are stuck up, etc. But things do ultimately turn out better in Piltover while everything gets worse in Zaun.
I JUST finished the 3 episodes...holy shit. The artstyle reminds me a bit of a mixture between Dishonored and Borderlands and the story...oh my god the story. This left me crying and sweating on my chair! This was amazing!
I don't know if anyone noticed it, but the part with Jinx hugging Silco. The zoom in to Jinx's Eye looks like the Fallen Angel painting of Lucifer. Also representing of how Jinx's fall from sanity to insanity.
You can feel the raw emotions from the show, especially with episode 3. When Mylo and Claggor unnecessarily died due to Jinx's bomb, which didn't affect Deckard as much as it killed her own friends. That was gut-wrenching, they were so close to escaping with Vander, but he ended up sacrificing himself to save Vi. What's interesting for me is that Vi stands for "Violet" and Jinx's real name is Powder, I don't remember if their real names have ever been revealed but yeah. This show is so so good!
@@TR_18 Deckard was the kid that fought Vi's group ealier and forced Jinx to drop the loot. He's also the one who drank the Purple Stuff and attacked them.
Fun little reference I noticed - Silco calls the purple liquid Shimmer. Which is a reference to old, now non canon lore about Zaun. It was a substance like a drug which Zaunites took for a minor high but was lethal in large quantities or over exposure. The kicker is that in the description Jinx's face was used indicating that an old lore direction for her is that her madness was caused by toxic levels of Shimmer use.
Great, they made baby Jinx absolutely precious so that my heart can't take what she'll go through. Following the series' aftermath I want an arc where she goes to family therapy
And thank you fortiche productions for just bringing quality as they have always done with every project Riot has assigned them for. Back from the: "Get Jinxed" music video, to "Warriors" with imagine dragons, The "Rise" music video, K/DA. They're so incredible, and the production is in a "league" of its own. Absolute legends.
Piltover/Zaun was absolutely the right setting for this series. It's a lot like New York as a movie setting. It's a crossroads for so many different stories to overlap. Nowhere else in Runterra could you have this many characters all focused on the same events without making it a vast nation-spanning war between Demacia, Noxus, and Ionia which would absolutely lose the personal connection of this story. Maybe for season 2, though...
Mage rebellion is something they can actually make a series about for seasons 2, there's quite a few characters involved and is pretty similar to the present setting
I thought about this, and I believe without having big wars and conflicts and whatnot, Bilgewater would probably be another great setting for stories that are pretty self contained.
I never got how people could say "I was literally in tears after seeing *insert show here*". But after watching Arcane today, I am not exaggerating when I say that seeing Jinx breaking down and crying after that happened actually made me shed a few tears. The animation and the voice acting really sold the sheer heartbreak of the moment. Well goddamn done, Rito.
Did anyone else notice that when Vander was being dragged to the torture chair thing the music sounded like the song that plays whenever Warwick is hunting someone? Or is that just me?
This series was truly worth the wait. Everyone has been begging for Riot to create a movie or a series and now that they have, they absolutely killed it. The people behind the show 100% deserve all the praise they are getting. Edit: also the fact that Warwick now has a very tragic and emotional backstory gives him so much more depth as a character.
as someone who's been a part of that crowd since 2013, it was so goddamn fulfilling to watch, and as someone who was part of the Advent Children hype way back, it's so goddamn cool to see how far we've come 2005: video game makers make a movie with zero knowledge of filmmaking outside of cutscenes, and it's great 2021: video game studio gets so big that they can hire entire cast and crew to make a fully fledged series the "right" way what a time to be alive
Remember when Warwick is just a random wolf? Now, you know that wolf had family, but lost it. I read Warwick's lore once, and I never thought the voice of the little girl in his mind is Vi. Her scream when he died. I mean, bruh... Arcane is so awesome, everything is so connected.

One thing that I have noticed in episode 3, while it was ending is that, Violet and Powder are a parallel counterpart to Vander and Silco. As we all saw, Vander and Silco were "brothers" as said by Silco(but i dunno if they're blood-related or not) just as Vi and Powder are siblings. The backstory of Vander and Silco is that one betrayed the other and eventually they fell apart and went on their seperate ways. Now, we know especially for lore addicts that this series won't end in a happy ending, and it certainly will but...unlike Vander and Silco... Violet and Powder will have a moment of reconcilation and defeat Silco breaking the cycle of hate and anger. But of course for a brief moment as we know how the story of Jinx came to be....
Im going out on a limp here and say that while they might end up teaming up to fight the greater evil in the end. I doubt it will end in any happy way. Predictions will goes as Powder being abandon twice by Violet in the end alone might be a thing none of them can get over. Jinx most likely will have killed half the city by the end, and Vi might not forgive her for that, just as Jinx might not forgive her for leaving her behind. i say one thing here. Prepare for another hard hitting ending with the two sisters. The worst is yet to come.
Another thing is that Vi and Jinx will probably embody the both versions of Vander. Jinx will be the hound and mad fighter while VI will be striving for balance. (something of the sort at least, they are much different)

The scene of her freaking out is vary true to a child acting such. She felt abandoned, and I believe knew full well she they where going out on a danger and might not come back. The second time was Vi literally hitting her and walks off. To Powder, that might aswell have been abandoned twice. It hit home way to hard.

I'm betting after the time jump into the next act, Silco and Singed part ways and Singed experiments with the drug (which is called Shimmer, right? I swear I'm not crazy I heard Silco call it that) and eventually turns it green as it becomes the first batches of Chemtech. This series is going to explore the origins of both of the signature technologies AND the schism that leads to Zaun actually becoming Zaun (because as you probably heard in EP. 3, Zaun is implied to just be an idea in act 1)
Just wanted to say that yeah, Silco straight up called that stuff Shimmer, and I could see Shimmer evolving to become green like the Chemtech Zaun's more known for now.
Well yeah, singed might try to perfect it and turn it into a "Chimeric mutagen" rather than just giving the user Increased Muscle mass and slight re gen. Also, Silco might distribute the chemical or it could get stolen/smuggled all around Zaun, some of it ending in the hands of some Asylum doctors... then Mundo.
I feel rewarded as a lore geek with all the easter eggs. I have been playing league for the past 7 years. it is a love hate relationship but watching the lore being explored like this is amazing.
This show is beyond brilliant, I cried, I laughed and I wanted more, soooo good! I can't begin to describe the pure bliss I felt watching it! I wish I could shake the hand of every single member who were part of Arcane's team, like just thank them, give them the apprecation they deserve. Absolutely genius, they've done it, they can retire now - this is the peak... A masterpiece like none other. I've already watched the first act twice, might even go for another round. Thank you Riot! The scenery, the music, the soundtrack, the characters, the voice acting, the animation is pure quality, the lore, the pacing, my god I could go on. Just wonderful. Had to get it off my chest, and hopefully everyone's admiration and appreciation reaches the depths of the Riot office because it's so deserved.
I like the parallel between silco/Vander and jinx/vi. At the end when jinx hugged silco you can see how silco wasn't all evil. Killing Vander hurt him or caused him loss. When jinx says vi isn't her sister and is hurting you can see that silco relates/feels the same. They both lost their sibling. I feel like him hugging her back was his way of working through his emotions too. Like they are kindred souls. Of all the people there, only jinx understood how he felt, and he needed that. I see him treating jinx as almost a daughter. Which will conflict or give him pause at some point during his plans. He'll definitely be more attached to her than he let's on. And his death or betrayal will help jinx become jinx. Vi is gonna cause jinx to be torn after she tells jinx silco is the one that killed vander. Jinx won't know who to trust. Jinx will have to be thrown into a mental chaos where she eventually snaps and let's go of everything. I feel like this would make the most sense story wise.
Psychologically she is already doomed and has snapped. Bipolar with co-dependance at what, age 9? Later on it is implied she develops psychosis and schizophrenia which are caused by her already horrendous coping mechanisms. Personally I was thinking Silco saw an opportunity to manipulate her. He seemed either hesitant, calculative or out of depth, we'll find out soon enough though but it could be many things.
@@gial27 he's totally gonna use her. But at that moment and inside i think he connected. They both perceive themselves betrayed by the sibling they looked up to. They both just lost that sibling. They're both misguided. And they're both completely alone in the world. I think he spared her for that. And Will keep her around to use/raise. He might get conflicted with priorities at times in his plans because of jinx, but it'll come to a head when vi tells jinx who he really is. That's when i can see him either just abandoning her once she doesn't trust him, be hurt to lose her and jinx won't believe him, or some mix of the two. Leaving jinx unable to trust anyone and with her unstable mentality and some hextech/purple drug mix she'll snap. Since riot seems to like tragic back stories, I'm sure she'll do it or it'll be done to escape sadness/save vi. She'll willingly choose to sacrifice herself to save vi as a last act of love. Then vi won't hate her. Jinx Will become the protector while vi needs to be protected. Like a final growth in their relationship. Then it'll be sad because the world will see jinx as a villain but vi knows she saved everyone. Jinx Will probably forget that's she's the hero of piltover/zaun. Story wise i can see that being good with twists and drama.
@@gial27 nothing about Jinx is bipolar (borderline, perhaps). And co-dependent? No, shes a little kid, and thats a normal trauma response. Psychosis can come from more things than schizophrenia, including post traumatic stress (especially complex ptsd or cptsd) and borderline personality disorder.

@@gial27 I dont think you know what bipolar disorder actually looks like. Depressive and manic episodes can last for weeks; they dont change rapidly, by any means. Thats much more characteristic of something like BPD or other personality disorders, not mood disorders. Powder doesnt exhibit periods of depression or mania- we havent seen a long enough period to observe a shift in mood lasting for a sustained period, and if she is manic, that isnt actually a symptom unique to bipolar disorder.
The best thing in this series is the fact that my expectection was REALLY HIGH and they still made it sooooo much better that I thought it's even possible!!! It's so clever, so beautiful and well written; RIOT AND FORTICHE MADE AN AMAZING JOB
To say it was good is an understatement. If the ruination got the same treatment it would have been so cool. But let's hope we'll get more sides of runeterra in this format.
I got more invested when they focused on Jayce especially when Viktor becomes his "partner". I'm very interested with these types of character which display the concept of "curiosity" and "discovery".
This series, or at least the first chapter or arc, it really is Perfection isnt it. It does everything it wants to do, it does it perfectly, it does it with style in its ambition, passion with its wide strokes, attention to small details, it twists our expectations and lets us see and experience all the emotions in all of its scenes and moments, the pacing is perfect for the story and plot. The animation, the voice acting, the presentation, it all reeks of talent and passion. I can legit not come up with a single negative thing to complain about in chapter/arc 1. Even in the best shows and movies you can find something that you think could be done a little bit better or something to be changed. Arcane is something special. We all knew that lol could have a great story, and that it had potential. But this surpassed even the most hopeful of expectations. And to think that Arcane was made by the same company that did the Ruination Event. That is actually baffeling to me.
I just love how every character has FLAWS. Its my favorite part of every good series, the flaws is what makes characters interesting. But lately it seems like the Hollywood big budget stuff has adopted this weird fear of going in hard on the flaws. And this show goes HELLA IN, so mucho so the structure of the series is based around it. Makes for a very engaging watch.

@@SuperHongTay That is correct. My comment doesn’t really refute that, it just says flaws are no longer the priority on character building , hence the “weird fear of GOING IN HARD on the flaws”. I don’t necessarily mean there are no longer any flawed characters in Hollywood stuff, just that they are afraid of making flaws the core of their writing. It’s more of a subjective take tho, feel free to disagree.
Episode 3 had me all in "goosebumps", especially at the end where Vi got rescued by the warden and Powder hugging Silco. Future episodes are definitely going to depict how Vi is introduced to Caitlyn.
Going forward I hope they don't just make Viktor a villain, or at least they should show Viktor's side of the story where Jayce assumes Viktor's a monster and destroys his lab in Zaun and kills all the people Viktor was about to save.
@@BakedPotatoYT1 they think that because Riot hasn't ever updated Viktor's lines in game to fit his lore, like in universe I love that the people of Piltover think Jayce is a hero despite him just being arrogant and irresponsible because he's from there and has political backing while thinking Viktor is a cruel mad scientist because he was born in Zaun, because it really shows the social divide between those born in Zaun or Piltover, and shows that just because Piltover looks beautiful doesn't mean it's not in some ways even more vile than Zaun could ever be.

Yeah I think there will be a smooth transition into Viktors intentions. They hinted at this with Heimerdinger saying arcane power corrupts. Viktor might just have it go to his head.
Swain's interaction to jinx "faces fading in the flames, it was all her fault" Now it truly makes sense. The flame(well the flame during the chaos), her grave mistake which is throwing the bomb(it was all her fault), faces fading in the flames( the deaths of her friends because of her)

Rhaum lets Swain devour people souls and get their knowledge , where they killed by him or not. In the game, he's W if f landed, tears a chunk of a person soul, letting him get a little insight into a person mind. Not to mention hes Ravens patrolling all around Runaterra.

The fact that they made this only makes saltier the ruination fiasco, my mother watched the series with me, I had to do TL;DR of the lore of LoL and she was Fascinated, that shows how well written, animated and VA'd that literally someone who don't know anything from the game itself with a little of context can get so inmersed on a series from a videogame

In the "call for power" cinematic ryze shows some old stone pieces that showed there are other mages other than him, so in conclusion, jayce met a random mage.

Also Jayce saw Vi was in there when the explosion happened before passing out. I wonder if he is going to hold a grudge...

Yea, they almost made it out, but poor little Powder Jinx(ed) it. That's so sad. Violet and Powder had such a beautiful relationship. Any fan of the game knows it gets ripped apart, but seeing how it happened had me so tearful.
I also winced at how she literally could have just THROWN a crystal and exactly where she wanted the explosion. Those things are amazing at being grenades, and she instead uses way too many of them, and puts them on an unreliable timer involving an unreliable toy…
I saw her smile wildly when its exploded and I thought..."Holy shit!!"
After years of waiting, this is all I have ever wanted. It was a show of passion and love and care, not just another cash-grab series to sell merchandise. I can die in peace now

@@anon6187 there's lots of symbolism in Arcane and I love it. Another great parallel is when Wander told Vi about responsibility and goes to show how to uphold it by sacrificing himself when he turned himself in, but then Jinx does the opposite of what Wander was trying to teach Vi where she destroyed everything that mattered to her because of her selfish desires to feel useful.
I think Arcane in general keeps balancing messages about selfishness and sacrifice like this, and it keeps the characters and their choices constantly interesting, such as Jayce on the one hand striving for progress and wanting to save Viktor but also understands that hextech can be dangerous and needs to be regulated.
I also love how the story humanized Vi, Viktor, Jayce and Caitlyn. They're all incredibly likable and I really enjoyed the relationship so far between Caitlyn and Vi. Jinx is turning into a villain so she's obviously becoming more unlikable, since as opposed to the other main characters except maybe Viktor, her characterization develops her negatively. I'm sure we'll see the same happening to Viktor eventually.
Another thing I like is how the characters are all so incredibly strong and keep finding ways to solve their situation without external interference. Deux ex machina do happen, but they don't at the point you expect it to.
I agree with Necrit. This is actually one of the best series I've ever seen and I'm not even a huge lore buff. It's probably better if you know League, but even if you don't I think not knowing anything beforehand can also give a freshness to the experience which also can't be replicated.

@@mrmistah5126 I loved the game but toxicity has many forms and only one type gets punished which is arguably the least impactful although annoying. They literally only punish players who abuse chat. I could literally hard int down mid for 100 games in a row and the only thing you lose is lp. You will never get banned inting which gives alot of power to people who want to control a situation. Their balance can be funky at times for sure but they just don't address major issues and try to show they care by putting bandaids rather than fixing it at the core. I will agree cinematics are outrageous, music is hit or miss for me.

Honestly, I think the most impressive thing in this series so far is how compelling and sympathetic Jayce is. Jayce has always been a contentious character and it's always felt like Riot never knew what to do with him, and it always felt like he could never be a fan favorite. But here they give him some compelling motivations and interesting relationships. He's actually someone I want to watch and even root for!
I cant wait for his reaction when viktor becomes what we know him as. It will such a heavy moment, his partner becoming a machine from technology they invented
No no no. I cannot WAIT for the Jayce regression arc. The only Jayce that deserves my headspace is the cocky brat version so I can hate on him again.

I think its good so far but if they keep him oblivious about the wrongdoings his stuff did to zaun, it'll be right back to contentious. His plea where he talked about how good piltover was made him seem like a good guy at heart but super uninformed.
Jayce is the reason I got to diamond. I used to spam Tryndamere and when he got hard countered by the likes of Quinn and Vayne, I started using Jayce to level up the playing field. After that I broke my platinum plateau. Always been my second fav champ after tryn.
Absolute favorite part in the end is when Jinx hugs Silco, he gets confused, Jinx tells him that Vi betrayed her and is no longer her sister and Silco realizes that this is exactly how he felt when Wander betrayed him, immediately symphatizing with her and embracing her. Embracing her not as "hurr durr I am evil and will use you in my evil plans of evil muhahahaha", but as a person, who experienced the same exact pain in practically same fashion as she did. T H I S I S I N C R E D I B L E . I put all 10s on iMDB for this show, and I didn't even had an account there before.

I actually saw it as him immediately realizing the potential in manipulating and using her as a tool for his ambitions, a la Palpatine with Anakin.

Holy shit didn't even realize this but you're right. My god this blew me away
What blew me away is how every emotion was so perfectly conveyed to the public.
The very first scene where Vi sees her dead mother and breaks down in tears moved me, which is a feat! Usually, this sort of very early exposition doesn't really work beause you're not attached to the characters and you're just like "eh, typical 'protagonist with dead parents' trend", but here you already felt for Vi and Powder. Also, the strong symbolic when Vander drops his gloves.
The mix of fury and despair in Vander's last stand, Jayce's resignment as he's about to jump...
And also all the subtle expressions: Powder scoffing at Mylo after her target shooting, Vi showing her "shut up" look to Mylo, Viktor cringing when Jayce asks him if he's sure about his theory...
And of course, the last scene which was absolutely heartbreaking: "I only wanted to help... I only wanted to help!" from Powder.
I also liked the foreshadowing and the nods to the future champions: Mylo saying Powder jinxes everything, Vi saying Powder is a jinx, Viktor making fun of Jayce's pride because he signed every single page of his notes, Viktor and Jayce mentionning a Crank to harness magic (Blitz means storm in german, which is kinda appropriate to the Arcane storm they create later on), and also Caitlyn's brand new theme playing when Jayce metts her under the rain!
And yes, the pace was perfect.
Do u play league? cuz if so i think that might influence the fact that u feel emotions so powerfully, because even if u don't necessarily like the characters that are displayed, u still sometimes play with/against these characters (or champions) and that already gives u some kind of link. Risky but powerful move by the creators of the first scene.
(theres a lot of ppl saying they can feel the emotions rly powerfully, the same goes to them).
If u don't play league, than its and even more powerful (yet even riskier), because they immediately managed to instil empathy.
The acting at the end actually blew me away, jinxes acting felt so real.
Btw... Blitz does not mean storm in German. A more accurate translation would be "Lightning". That works also very well with the effects.

The facial animations and raw emotions are so insane. You can tell how these characters feel without them even speaking. I've waited 9+ years for this, I'm so happy.

Its true, there is so much happening both visually and just in the writing that says things without even SAYING them. I think Necrit said during the stream, but I agree that there is barely any expositional talk, and when there is, it is interwoven with character moments or done visually. So good...

HERE'S A LIST OF ALL HINTS POINTING TO VANDER BECOMING WARWICK
- Vander being called the "Hound of the Underground"
- Silco calling him a "lapdog" of the up-siders
- When he was being dragged in by Silco to their hideout you can see metal claws being forged similar to WW's
- When Silco dragged him to be tortured unto a chair you can LITERALLY hear WW's blood-scent skill theme playing in the background
- His transformation, it seems the syrums effects is different depending on the person, Deckard never growled like an animal when he transformed instead he sounded more screechy while Vander made more animalistic and wolf-like growls when he took the syrum.
- If you followed WW's old lore Vander literally said a line to Vi that goes "You have a good heart, don't ever lose it" which is a call back to his retconned lore where he was supposed to eat Soraka's heart to complete his wolf transformation.
- This is a quote in WW's lore "Warwick struggled to recall a single memory from his past... All he could see was blood. But then he heard a little girl screaming. Screaming something he couldn’t understand. It sounded like a name" (if you know, you know.)
- In Greek Vanders name means "Good Man" or "Family Of". In WW's lore there's a quote that goes "Singed would reveal his subject’s true nature-the deadly beast hidden within a “good man.”
- Vanders flexor muscle on his right arm was cut by Silco, hence why he wasn't able to choke Silco to death. And when Vander transformed he used his left arm to kill Deckard, my theory is that the "prototype" syrum doesn't heal past injuries but only the more recent ones. WW's right arm is also the arm that was mechanized by Singed.
- When Silco stabbed Vander in the back we see Vander turning to him with an incredibly feral look, so full of rage, hate and probably fear on what's to come if he's not able to kill Silco, this is a quote in WW's lore "A chemical chamber was installed on Warwick’s back and integrated with his nervous system. Whenever he felt rage, or hate, or fear, it would drive liquid fury deeper into his veins, fully awakening the beast within." (If you've seen the WW cinematic the chemical chamber basically stabs him in the back and drives in the "liquid fury" into his nervous system.)
- WW's quote to Vi in game "The fear in your eyes. I've seen it before." (When Vi saw Vander transformed by the syrum at the end of episode 3).
- WW's quote to Jinx in game "You were there..." and "Let me forget...". (Yeah you know).
- WW's quote when taunting in game "I ran these streets - now it's your turn to run." (Vander ran the streets of the Lanes).
- In the events of act 2 we see Singed repeatedly saying "the mutation must survive". Vander in all sense of sorts had the most drastic mutation when he took in the syrum, Deckard and those shimmer addicts at the last episode of act 2 turned out to be more like screeching zombies. And basing on Silco's reaction when he saw Vanders transformation during act 1 it was unlike anything he's ever seen in Singed's trial experiments.
I didn't agree with the 'Vander = Warwick' theory before, but I think you just convinced me

in later episode, when viktor(or silco to heal jinx, i forgot) visit singed we can see an arm in the ceiling with claw, it looks like WW arms, and it make sense that singed started working to make WW already as the time is limited since vander died/dying.
The variance of level between ruination and Arcane is so massive that it seems impossible that Riot could make such an insane flop before such a completely mind-blowing animated series.
One has years behind it while the other had less than a year with covid. Sad really, since the Ruination would have been very epic.

When Fiddlesticks interacts with Jinx in the game that's what he's saying: It's all her fault.

I watched it yesterday with my dad who's 70 and loves fantasy novels. He knows nothing about League other than I play it, and he loved the first 3 episodes. Especially the world building and setting.
If the series can make my old man who knows nothing about the game like the series so much, it just shows how much of a masterpiece the show is.

In the scene where Silco’s goon is dragging Vander to that chair, right after the burly woman puts out her cigarette, you can hear a metallic groan that’s pulled right out of Warwick’s theme!
The scene where Jinx invention works and the destruction it caused juxtaposed with Jayce and Viktors discovery about how to control the hex crystals was absolutely brilliant. This series is all about the duality found in relationships (Jinx and Vi, Silco and Vander, even Piltover and Zaun) and it’s absolutely amazing how well these relationships are written.
Exactly, Jayce wanted to control it for helping society, Victor wanted to have power and be more while Jinx saw beauty in the destruction by it.
And then Jayce buys eclipse and then full combos heimerdinger

-The consistency between the show, and the lore we've been provided. Just look at Warwicks lore and compare it to Vander.

@@roughnegg6615 to be fair, Viktor didn't change with status according to his lore. He was thrown out of piltover because he believed removing human error from processes is what saves lives, piltover people considered his work unethical and in violation of human rights, believing that this "error" is where humanity gets its creativity. The even bigger change to him happens when he tries his premises on himself, altering parts of his body and brain in order to remove pesky emotions and human error from his work. Which is when his vision became a lot more obsessive and fully became the "glorious evolution".
If anything Viktor changed after he lost everything and was thrown back to Zaun. Where he decided the only way others would follow his vision is if they saw it at work, so he gets to work on altering himself. He's kind of the prime example of "living your work". Jayce is more of a what power and money does to you character.
P.s. I also think that choosing to work on himself speaks to his character a lot, instead of just doing experiments on more unfortunate people in Zaun as a lot of other do.

Comes to show how Riot has been setting this up for quite a while. Obviously since making an animation of this scale takes ages not only in the artistic side of things but also the boring legal side where you have to do the marketing and all.
@@OverlordNix For me, it points towards Piltover giving up on Zaun altogether, seeing how the inevitable uprising of Silco will make Zaun grow beyond their control, which already seems to be build on a very tenous peace between Vander and the Chief of the Enforcers. Silcos uprising will be squashed by Vi, Cait, Jinx etc. but will lead to the Chem-Barons like Singed and Urgot filling the power vaccum left behind by Piltowers withdrawal.
There is also the possibility that the unleashing of Victors warmachines, Camille and the Chembarons meddling in the power struggles of the Undercity and beasts like Warwick and Mundo will plunge Zaun into a state of perpetual chaos, justifying the anger many Zaunites feel towards Vi.
My mom was a league player since 2019 and I played around 2016. We watched Arcane together and at the very end of Episode 3 I remembered her saying "I wanna marry the writter of this story!" I was like, I can't agree with you more. 🤣

1. That was so clearly the realm warp that (not) Ryze used. But does Ryze not need to weave the runes because they are tattooed onto him?
2. Jayce and Viktor creating Ekko’s Parallel Convergence bubble was most excellent.
God, I love this series.
Regarding Ryze it makes a lot of sense since the travelling mage was holding a rune to activate unlike Ryze he friking has it engraved all over his body.

Honestly, this series is perfect, but it had me so goddamn heartbroken. Both Jinx AND Vi deserved better and none of them deserved the grief and trauma. This is the first time i´ve ever sat in front of my screen and just wanted to hug two fictional characters and tell them that it´s gonna be all right.
I cant wait to see Vi becoming friends with Cait and how that will mess with Jinx when they finally meet
This series has made a few things crystal clear in my mind.
1. I REALLY want jinx and vi to have some kind of closer with each other.
2. Viktor is a mother fucking real one for saving Jayce from what he was going to do.
3. I might not enjoy the game as much but the world of runeterra is by far, above and beyond, my all time favorite universe and the team that did this hit a homerun.
P.s. I really mean it, I hope to God that video and jinx get some kind of closure but I know its probably not going to happen. 😔

If you look deeper Jinx actually creates alot of champs other than just singed. If you think about it, she was responsible for Jayce and Viktor aswell because if she didnt blow up his room, Jayce would never have teamed up with viktor and its possible he would never have made that breakthrough for hextech. Also, Because of the arcane explosion mixing with the purple chemicals The seeds of chemtech were planted, and BECAUSE of that singed, WW, and possibly urgot will be created n their current LoL champion form. Oriana was also possibly created if you read her lore about a mysterious explosion that happened in zaun. And of course there is Vi becoming an Enforcer and Ekko's motivation to become who he is now. I could be overstretching a few things, But Jinx importance and that explosion in particular is what interested me most about this series. Of all the things they could have done for Jinx it was a pleasant surprise that this was their direction with her, and most importantly she has no idea what she has done and neither does she care(atleast not post powder as her character of Jinx). Very Joker esque without blatantly being the Joker with a backstory just as tragic, i love it. I alway's hoped for ages now that Shaco just became the joker of league and Jinx was the harlequinn, but here Jinx might just be Piltover's/Zaun's Joker instead.
You forgot to mention camille. Jayce‘s break through together with viktor will allow not only orianna and viktor himself but also camille to become a cyborg.
Honestly Shaco has no place in the lore and should be completely reworked imo. Jinx is a way better "joker-like"/trickster character.

If you listen to Vander's grunts at the end when he's purple, it sounds just like warwick's grunts. I just cant believe that Warwick is anyone but Vander.

A lot has been explained in the series already. Why Singed has bandages, how Powder got the name Jinx, how it is Powder's fault, how Vi's full name is Violet, and how she learned how to punch with gauntlets.

The voice work is out of this world, when Powder at the end starts panicking and breaking down I felt actual pain because it sounded exactly what a desperate child not wanting to be left would be. I almost cried in so many points throughout just those 3 episodes. Cannot wait for more

my favorite part of the plot is how in Zaun (the default "lower" city) everything goes downhill as plot progresses while in Piltover ("higher" city) everything improves, which in its own makes the difference between two so unmanagebly huge that it leaves the outburst to be a matter of "when", not "if"

I wouldn't say everything improves over the course of the plot in Piltover. Jayce almost commits suicide because the council doesn't approve of his research, Caitlyn is disallowed from seeing him because her parents are stuck up, etc. But things do ultimately turn out better in Piltover while everything gets worse in Zaun.

I JUST finished the 3 episodes...holy shit. The artstyle reminds me a bit of a mixture between Dishonored and Borderlands and the story...oh my god the story. This left me crying and sweating on my chair! This was amazing!

I don't know if anyone noticed it, but the part with Jinx hugging Silco. The zoom in to Jinx's Eye looks like the Fallen Angel painting of Lucifer. Also representing of how Jinx's fall from sanity to insanity.
You can feel the raw emotions from the show, especially with episode 3. When Mylo and Claggor unnecessarily died due to Jinx's bomb, which didn't affect Deckard as much as it killed her own friends. That was gut-wrenching, they were so close to escaping with Vander, but he ended up sacrificing himself to save Vi. What's interesting for me is that Vi stands for "Violet" and Jinx's real name is Powder, I don't remember if their real names have ever been revealed but yeah. This show is so so good!
@@TR_18 Deckard was the kid that fought Vi's group ealier and forced Jinx to drop the loot. He's also the one who drank the Purple Stuff and attacked them.

Fun little reference I noticed - Silco calls the purple liquid Shimmer. Which is a reference to old, now non canon lore about Zaun. It was a substance like a drug which Zaunites took for a minor high but was lethal in large quantities or over exposure. The kicker is that in the description Jinx's face was used indicating that an old lore direction for her is that her madness was caused by toxic levels of Shimmer use.

And thank you fortiche productions for just bringing quality as they have always done with every project Riot has assigned them for. Back from the: "Get Jinxed" music video, to "Warriors" with imagine dragons, The "Rise" music video, K/DA. They're so incredible, and the production is in a "league" of its own. Absolute legends.
Piltover/Zaun was absolutely the right setting for this series. It's a lot like New York as a movie setting. It's a crossroads for so many different stories to overlap. Nowhere else in Runterra could you have this many characters all focused on the same events without making it a vast nation-spanning war between Demacia, Noxus, and Ionia which would absolutely lose the personal connection of this story. Maybe for season 2, though...
I think shurima would be good for season 2 to explain the rune wars and ascended before going into season 3 with targonians

Mage rebellion is something they can actually make a series about for seasons 2, there's quite a few characters involved and is pretty similar to the present setting
I thought about this, and I believe without having big wars and conflicts and whatnot, Bilgewater would probably be another great setting for stories that are pretty self contained.

This series was truly worth the wait. Everyone has been begging for Riot to create a movie or a series and now that they have, they absolutely killed it. The people behind the show 100% deserve all the praise they are getting.
Edit: also the fact that Warwick now has a very tragic and emotional backstory gives him so much more depth as a character.

One thing that I have noticed in episode 3, while it was ending is that, Violet and Powder are a parallel counterpart to Vander and Silco. As we all saw, Vander and Silco were "brothers" as said by Silco(but i dunno if they're blood-related or not) just as Vi and Powder are siblings. The backstory of Vander and Silco is that one betrayed the other and eventually they fell apart and went on their seperate ways. Now, we know especially for lore addicts that this series won't end in a happy ending, and it certainly will but...unlike Vander and Silco... Violet and Powder will have a moment of reconcilation and defeat Silco breaking the cycle of hate and anger. But of course for a brief moment as we know how the story of Jinx came to be....
Im going out on a limp here and say that while they might end up teaming up to fight the greater evil in the end. I doubt it will end in any happy way. Predictions will goes as Powder being abandon twice by Violet in the end alone might be a thing none of them can get over. Jinx most likely will have killed half the city by the end, and Vi might not forgive her for that, just as Jinx might not forgive her for leaving her behind. i say one thing here. Prepare for another hard hitting ending with the two sisters. The worst is yet to come.
Another thing is that Vi and Jinx will probably embody the both versions of Vander. Jinx will be the hound and mad fighter while VI will be striving for balance. (something of the sort at least, they are much different)

The scene of her freaking out is vary true to a child acting such. She felt abandoned, and I believe knew full well she they where going out on a danger and might not come back. The second time was Vi literally hitting her and walks off. To Powder, that might aswell have been abandoned twice. It hit home way to hard.

I'm betting after the time jump into the next act, Silco and Singed part ways and Singed experiments with the drug (which is called Shimmer, right? I swear I'm not crazy I heard Silco call it that) and eventually turns it green as it becomes the first batches of Chemtech. This series is going to explore the origins of both of the signature technologies AND the schism that leads to Zaun actually becoming Zaun (because as you probably heard in EP. 3, Zaun is implied to just be an idea in act 1)
Just wanted to say that yeah, Silco straight up called that stuff Shimmer, and I could see Shimmer evolving to become green like the Chemtech Zaun's more known for now.

Well yeah, singed might try to perfect it and turn it into a "Chimeric mutagen" rather than just giving the user Increased Muscle mass and slight re gen. Also, Silco might distribute the chemical or it could get stolen/smuggled all around Zaun, some of it ending in the hands of some Asylum doctors... then Mundo.

I feel rewarded as a lore geek with all the easter eggs. I have been playing league for the past 7 years. it is a love hate relationship but watching the lore being explored like this is amazing.
This show is beyond brilliant, I cried, I laughed and I wanted more, soooo good! I can't begin to describe the pure bliss I felt watching it!
I wish I could shake the hand of every single member who were part of Arcane's team, like just thank them, give them the apprecation they deserve. Absolutely genius, they've done it, they can retire now - this is the peak... A masterpiece like none other.
I've already watched the first act twice, might even go for another round. Thank you Riot! The scenery, the music, the soundtrack, the characters, the voice acting, the animation is pure quality, the lore, the pacing, my god I could go on. Just wonderful. Had to get it off my chest, and hopefully everyone's admiration and appreciation reaches the depths of the Riot office because it's so deserved.

I like the parallel between silco/Vander and jinx/vi. At the end when jinx hugged silco you can see how silco wasn't all evil. Killing Vander hurt him or caused him loss. When jinx says vi isn't her sister and is hurting you can see that silco relates/feels the same. They both lost their sibling. I feel like him hugging her back was his way of working through his emotions too. Like they are kindred souls. Of all the people there, only jinx understood how he felt, and he needed that. I see him treating jinx as almost a daughter. Which will conflict or give him pause at some point during his plans. He'll definitely be more attached to her than he let's on. And his death or betrayal will help jinx become jinx. Vi is gonna cause jinx to be torn after she tells jinx silco is the one that killed vander. Jinx won't know who to trust. Jinx will have to be thrown into a mental chaos where she eventually snaps and let's go of everything. I feel like this would make the most sense story wise.
Psychologically she is already doomed and has snapped. Bipolar with co-dependance at what, age 9? Later on it is implied she develops psychosis and schizophrenia which are caused by her already horrendous coping mechanisms.
Personally I was thinking Silco saw an opportunity to manipulate her. He seemed either hesitant, calculative or out of depth, we'll find out soon enough though but it could be many things.
@@gial27 he's totally gonna use her. But at that moment and inside i think he connected. They both perceive themselves betrayed by the sibling they looked up to. They both just lost that sibling. They're both misguided. And they're both completely alone in the world. I think he spared her for that. And Will keep her around to use/raise. He might get conflicted with priorities at times in his plans because of jinx, but it'll come to a head when vi tells jinx who he really is. That's when i can see him either just abandoning her once she doesn't trust him, be hurt to lose her and jinx won't believe him, or some mix of the two. Leaving jinx unable to trust anyone and with her unstable mentality and some hextech/purple drug mix she'll snap. Since riot seems to like tragic back stories, I'm sure she'll do it or it'll be done to escape sadness/save vi. She'll willingly choose to sacrifice herself to save vi as a last act of love. Then vi won't hate her. Jinx Will become the protector while vi needs to be protected. Like a final growth in their relationship. Then it'll be sad because the world will see jinx as a villain but vi knows she saved everyone. Jinx Will probably forget that's she's the hero of piltover/zaun. Story wise i can see that being good with twists and drama.
@@gial27 nothing about Jinx is bipolar (borderline, perhaps). And co-dependent? No, shes a little kid, and thats a normal trauma response. Psychosis can come from more things than schizophrenia, including post traumatic stress (especially complex ptsd or cptsd) and borderline personality disorder.

Depressive and manic episodes can last for weeks; they dont change rapidly, by any means. Thats much more characteristic of something like BPD or other personality disorders, not mood disorders.
Powder doesnt exhibit periods of depression or mania- we havent seen a long enough period to observe a shift in mood lasting for a sustained period, and if she is manic, that isnt actually a symptom unique to bipolar disorder.
The best thing in this series is the fact that my expectection was REALLY HIGH and they still made it sooooo much better that I thought it's even possible!!! It's so clever, so beautiful and well written; RIOT AND FORTICHE MADE AN AMAZING JOB
To say it was good is an understatement. If the ruination got the same treatment it would have been so cool. But let's hope we'll get more sides of runeterra in this format.

I got more invested when they focused on Jayce especially when Viktor becomes his "partner". I'm very interested with these types of character which display the concept of "curiosity" and "discovery".

This series, or at least the first chapter or arc, it really is Perfection isnt it.
It does everything it wants to do, it does it perfectly, it does it with style in its ambition, passion with its wide strokes, attention to small details, it twists our expectations and lets us see and experience all the emotions in all of its scenes and moments, the pacing is perfect for the story and plot.
The animation, the voice acting, the presentation, it all reeks of talent and passion.
I can legit not come up with a single negative thing to complain about in chapter/arc 1. Even in the best shows and movies you can find something that you think could be done a little bit better or something to be changed.
Arcane is something special.
We all knew that lol could have a great story, and that it had potential.
But this surpassed even the most hopeful of expectations.
And to think that Arcane was made by the same company that did the Ruination Event. That is actually baffeling to me.

I just love how every character has FLAWS. Its my favorite part of every good series, the flaws is what makes characters interesting. But lately it seems like the Hollywood big budget stuff has adopted this weird fear of going in hard on the flaws. And this show goes HELLA IN, so mucho so the structure of the series is based around it. Makes for a very engaging watch.

@@SuperHongTay That is correct. My comment doesn’t really refute that, it just says flaws are no longer the priority on character building , hence the “weird fear of GOING IN HARD on the flaws”. I don’t necessarily mean there are no longer any flawed characters in Hollywood stuff, just that they are afraid of making flaws the core of their writing. It’s more of a subjective take tho, feel free to disagree.
It's refreshing to say the least. This show actually makes you feel something and the characters act and react like real personalities.

Episode 3 had me all in "goosebumps", especially at the end where Vi got rescued by the warden and Powder hugging Silco. Future episodes are definitely going to depict how Vi is introduced to Caitlyn.
Going forward I hope they don't just make Viktor a villain, or at least they should show Viktor's side of the story where Jayce assumes Viktor's a monster and destroys his lab in Zaun and kills all the people Viktor was about to save.
Viktor isn't really a villain and Jayce is arrogant. I don't know why people thinks Viktor is the villain of their story.
@@BakedPotatoYT1 they think that because Riot hasn't ever updated Viktor's lines in game to fit his lore, like in universe I love that the people of Piltover think Jayce is a hero despite him just being arrogant and irresponsible because he's from there and has political backing while thinking Viktor is a cruel mad scientist because he was born in Zaun, because it really shows the social divide between those born in Zaun or Piltover, and shows that just because Piltover looks beautiful doesn't mean it's not in some ways even more vile than Zaun could ever be.

Im going out on a limp and say Viktor sees Hextech as the next step of evolution to humans, most likely duo to his weak body. I think he will have good intentions. But Jayce is out to better Humanity, not replace it. You can see the conflict between them from here forming. Progress, or replacement
Yeah I think there will be a smooth transition into Viktors intentions. They hinted at this with Heimerdinger saying arcane power corrupts. Viktor might just have it go to his head.

@@Zero001 Well there is this tini tiny birdie called "R H A U M" who happens to be just the FREAKING DEMON OF SECRETS and our papá Swain maked a deal with it when he was about to bleed out during the first Noxian invasion and Irelia cutting hes hand. Rhaum lets Swain devour people souls and get their knowledge , where they killed by him or not. In the game, he's W if f landed, tears a chunk of a person soul, letting him get a little insight into a person mind. Not to mention hes Ravens patrolling all around Runaterra.

The fact that they made this only makes saltier the ruination fiasco, my mother watched the series with me, I had to do TL;DR of the lore of LoL and she was Fascinated, that shows how well written, animated and VA'd that literally someone who don't know anything from the game itself with a little of context can get so inmersed on a series from a videogame

In the "call for power" cinematic ryze shows some old stone pieces that showed there are other mages other than him, so in conclusion, jayce met a random mage.
