Lawrence - Indeed! I believe the mic has its own back story. In an interview several years ago Amy explained it was made for her specially by Bob Clearmountain. The famous sound engineer who mixes a lot of Bruce Springsteen’s recordings (among others). When Bob was recording some of Amy’s early tracks. Specially adapted to give optimum response throughout Amy’s amazing and unusual vocal range. Something to do with giving the same output at the low end of her range as with the high notes. So nothing of the tonal quality is missed. Something that ordinary mics can’t achieve as I understand it (I’m no sound engineer, just an Amy fan). It now travels with her everywhere she she performs. As you said. I’d like to think it has its own very special transport box? Very carefully padded on the inside, with a crystal encrusted saltire on the outside (like the mic itself).

No matter how good her band, Amy always seems to look - and sound - more comfortable with her guitar in hand, presumably because that's how she composes and it feels more natural. Wonderful voice and phrasing.

Less is more with Amy, no problems with a smaller band supporting her, even solo she is quite impressive (her more recent "Piece of my heart" recorded at home was witness to this). BTW I got the impression she feels even better with a guitar in hand and of course she covered her arms when perfoming with a wider TV-audience in mind
