If you trade with IG and you aren’t aware of the games they play on unsuspecting traders, then this is a video you need to watch.

Throughout the video I'll share info that'll help you avoid the pitfalls of getting caught out by these, along with also suggesting potential sources of edge, but before I go any further;

CFD only good for maximizing margins - other than that it is expensive & they hunt your stop loss - cannot be trusted if you are real serious in trading. You face counter party risk.
One thing is always screen shot your trade executions or video tape them as a record. Brokers will play with you as they are market makers also if you can if you have another trading platform use that to see market prices. I've seen it all and they use every trick in the book to take your money
whilst i don't like IG for other reasons, i must say their prices are pretty accurate +/- spread andshort term volume flux when compared with other Market maker prices as well as underlining. But 100% agree with you retail traders research and check prices on brokers, and ensure they use FCA/ESMA/SEC regulated MM brokers so they get the best possible products.
Is it like playing in a casino then? They will always have the odds in their favor and ultimately they will take your account? No wonder in the US there's just 3 regulated brokers doing forex. I'm having second thoughts about even starting to trade this crap

The only edge is knowing your broker is trading against you.
I have had that same issue on my DEMO account, where you try to close a winning trade and nothing happens, just an error suggesting I can't close the trade because it does not exist or it has been already closed.

Do I have to use a broker in order to use the mt4 platform? Or is mt4 an actual broker and platform?
I tried to close out a position before and it wouldn't let either. It was a demo account and happened that once out of like 30 trades. That worries me. If this ws my real money i would've been pissed. Glad to see all i have to do is screen shot it and they'll fix it.
If your only complaints are their financial advice I do not see any problem. Who the hell listens to their broker when deciding trades? I am now more confident in IG. Their spreads are the best available in the US, so it was an easy choice.
Same i agree... no broker is perfect and alot of "brokers" out there are complete scams... IG like Oanda are both excellant... ive had nothing but good experience with IG

The fact that an automated backtesting feature is inaccurate seems sort of common sense to me..
Completely agree Rob, but you'd be amazed how many traders come to me with unchecked automated results. The 'backtest' shows one thing, and then you assess individual positions and they're all over the place. Completely inaccurate. Common sense is heavily lacking in many people at times unfortunately 👍

this is the perfect example why novice traders should not be given access to CFD/Spreadbet type platforms.
DO NOT USE IG.COM TO TRADE. I'm trading in the UK and when I trade US stocks the exchange rates they use are ridiculous. Every £10k i trade I lose £100 in forex. They claim to have £0 commission but in reality this is not the case.
If you choose to just hold in USD, then it is $15 commission.
How do they compare to CedarFX if you have used them? They offer same day withdrawals which are great.
The client statement does have value, for fading the herd's sentiment, much like using the commitment of traders report the fed publishes for futures contracts in the US Markets.
Much like you said at the end of the video, doing the opposite of everyone else is a great thing to consider.
To be honest, if a trader doesn't yet understand that when someone opens a long position they become a seller, and vice versa, and what a one sided market is, chances are, they shouldn't be trading real money yet.
My account got hacked and someone stole 25k and IG said they are not responsible
Hi William, Thanks for the video. I just realised IG does not allow someone to open a Spread Bet account outside of Uk. I only get 2 to choose from CFDs and Options accounts, Sorry to bother you but any ideas how to deal with this issue?
I think spread betting is a U.K only thing legally
I don't know what this guy is talking about, what play. I have been with them for years and their execution is very good. Stops get triggered precisely, money withdrawal is fast, and all costs are shown on the screen on every trade in advance. Is this video clickbait or what

Interesting video, came across this as considering switching brokers - Ive heard that IG are expensive in terms of fee's? I only trade FX majors, and can only see the details of their spread, are there built in feels also do you know? thanks for sharing. good advice for newbies

I've just started using this thing. It has so many stocks/shares etc and currently liking it. Just using DEMO account for now. I'm in Aus and this seem to have the best amount of info in regards to information etc

@@adamscott1710 same love it..and great customer service they are base in Melbourne... was using stake for US market but found they dont have all the spacs and they get it when its too late while IG has all of them so you can get a great position early..

Hi I'm new to Forex trading and planning to start CFD trading using IG broker account with USD as Base currency. They have a currency conversion fee of 0.5%. I wanted to know which currency pairs can I trade with such that I don't get charged for the currency conversion fee. Please help. Thanks.
Just wondering, why IG wouldn't deliberately close a winning trade when requested? I thought that they make their money on % of a winning trade and maybe with the spread, but surely it shouldn't make no difference for them if a trader wins or loses a trade
IG hedge both losing and winning traders' positions i.e. If you're a loser, they hedge against you, if you're a winner they take your trades with you. Both are in-place to protect their downside. They do this via what's called their 'A-book' and their 'B-book'. A-book traders make money, B-book traders lose money 👍
I realised they do manipulate the charts sometimes to make it reach your stops but when you check it with several different brokers they didnt have such a movement

Hi Jack. To close a trade via the IG platform you click over to the 'Positions' tab and then click 'Close' 👍
my issue with IG stoploss each and every trade
for Indices cannot put stp loss sometimes ....even maket 300% against us it can recover after two or three days or week time ....but stoploss suden close the trade with loss
IG - no stoploss feature for stock trading, huge commission, always promote CFD and has stoploss, no commission etc. No research strategies etc. But overall it's worst, just for putting trades they charge huge commission.

Hi M. You won't want to use a share dealing account I wouldn't say. That's more for longer-term holdings. If you're looking to trade, you'll want either a spread bet or a contract for difference account. I hope that helps 👍

there was a broker in NZ, gone broke now - cryptos. even at 2am the bid ask was going bazerk - looked at the volume for 45 minutes and nothing yet, bots were changing the bid and ask price and volumes bid and asked like mad lol - its a trap to some

1. Overall, how do you feel about IG in terms of their fair dealing? Execution-wise, data / pricing transparency etc
2. Do you have a rough estimate how much is the trading cost (all fees+commission) for trading commodities, fx, stocks, indices? As a % of transaction value. Just based on your historical trades. I know IG provides a detailed explanation on the fees, but thought a practitioner like you could help make it easier to digest.

I have been trading with ig forex for over 5 years platform is ok But customer service is so horrible am actually going to try to file a complaint and if I ever meet the Manger By the name of Rob I would Rip his head off and shove it where the sun don't shine. Currently waiting to get out of gdp trade then will close my account for good

I just found out they are charging a penalty of 90 points for hitting a stop loss.. wtf is that !! I opened my account and I think I'll close it on the same day

Hello Will I have also heard that IG have been known to manipulate there platform so that traders stop loses are hit. Have you heard of this at all?
Hi Liam. It's a common question discussed by newer traders but I highly, highly doubt this to be true as if caught, it'd mean the end of a company with a valuation in the multi-millions. I don't believe they'd take that risk, but that's just my opinion. What I would add though is that 'spread bet' accounts are in fact priced by IG as the data is indicative and is a 'replica' of the underlying (actual) market. I hope that helps 👍
This happened to me a few times. The platform also lags, which makes it difficult to plot my eateries.
Thats just BS rumours.. they wouldn't risk their licence massive fine that will bankrupt their company...
Lets say you have €1000 and you buy something. You keep the trade open but you lose €1000 so you end up on 0. Does the trade automatically closes that you end up with 0 or can you leave the trade open till the value goes up again?
Hi Turk. Great question. If you have a £1000 account and your trade goes against you by £1000 you would receive what's called a 'margin call' from your broker. They would ask you to either add funds to keep the trade open, or if you didn't want to add funds they would close the position out meaning that you would realise the loss, emptying your account entirely. With that said, you should never be risking your entire account balance on one trade, and you should always be using a stop-loss to prevent the above from happening. It is possible to connect IG to MyFXBook, though only through MetaTrader which means Windows-only. If you're a Mac user like myself, this isn't possible unfortunately 👍

Using ig I had a position that was at $136 profit, once I closed the position it said I only made $29 profit. You know why that might have happened?
Hi Andre. Hmm, interesting. I'd imagine that perhaps the position came back on you before you closed it out? Either way, their support team should be able to help, just drop them a call (I don't work for IG, I'm just a trader who uses their platform to execute). Hope that helps Andre 👍
I tried twice time it closed my profit position automatically without I excutive it. And I called ig they even couldn’t explain to me also. I earned less than actual profits as you.
Don't close your order at market price, instead use a limit order

IG forex is the worst stay the hell away from them have been using them for few years had a lot of problems what pushed me over the edge was when tried to open a corporation account with them they originally said 2 weeks. After the weeks then they told me a month what the hell. Love the excuse I got we have to open them manually ok let's go with that still should not take a month

I'd suggest IG, though there are many other options i.e. FX Pro, CMC Markets, Saxo Bank, Interactive Brokers etc 👍

On IG you are charged $13/transaction when you are buying and also SELLING the bought shares!

Please, do not invest in this platform. It is really hard to withdraw your money. Their customer service is really inefficient and they always saying the same thing.
I've went short on a trade when 81% of traders were going LONG. Made £75 on that trade.

What I'd say though is, try not to just 'blindly' buy if everyone's short, or sell if everyone's long as the market sentiment tool isn't that black and white unfortunately. What I'd suggest is, use the reading to form a bias and align this with an existing strategy and/or build a strategy that incorporates this. Hope that helps, and keep up the good work 👍
@@WBTrading off course it's not to say that a trader that's going LONG won't make his money but it could be 1 week or 1 month or more. I was in just for the day. You need to buy those dips and sell those highs. I will go LONG on natural gas around August/October hopefully at around the 2500/2600 entry mark and I'll let that one run till xmas/new year if I have to but it will, once again, be my Xmas bonus! It's just a waiting game. EOY 2017 the stupid thing struggled to make it past 3000 and at EOY 2018 almost peaked at 5000!!! WTF!!! Crazy!
I use MetaTrader which is 1000 times better because you Can customize it FOR EVERYTHING build your own bots and build indicators and backtest auto-optimize Trading Strategy's copy other Traders account and a lot more METATRADER is absolut best !!!

I just had a leveraged Salesforce ETF position delisted from IG. I was 400 euros up, after contacting them they have advised me to transfer to another broker, have you ever had this experience and any advice?
