  • In this easy cooking video, I cook some corned beef brisket in my slow cooker. I seasoned my corned beef with Johnny's Seasoned Pepper amzn.to/2n851c1 and then cooked it in the crockpot for 10 hours on low and it was very tender and juicy.

Just found your video. Looks great! I’m 74 yrs, this will be my first corned beef. Husband didn’t like corned beef so never cooked it. He’s passed last year, so I’m cooking for me! I didn’t like all the liquid others put in, seemed like a lot. Can’t wait to try it this week! Thanks for you video! 😁👍💕

I followed this recipe yesterday and it was truly the best corned beef I’ve ever made. Rinsing off the brine and skipping the seasoning packet included in the pack is a game changer. instead I used a salt free seasoning, mustard seeds, pepper, sugar and bay leaves. Placed it fat side down, did not lift the lid for 11 hours and it was perfectly cooked with a “bark” as you expect with brisket and a nice sauce in the pot to spoon over potatoes, carrots and cabbage, which I steamed in a separate pot. A fantastic dinner and don’t forget the horseradish!! Thanks for sharing tour technique.

Corned beef brisket is literally one of my favorites Foods. Surprisingly the one they sell at Aldi is one of the best tasting and best seasoned corned beefs I have found. About a year or so ago I started cooking them in a dry slow cooker with the fat side down. I will never make it any other way now. For years I had been making it using a can of Foster's beer because for some reason it added a great flavor but since I found such a great corned beef I like to keep it simple all by itself. I also like to cook the vegetables separately and based them with the fatty heavily concentrated broth that came out of the corned beef

There’s not much juice coming out maybe due to different corned beef type? But it taste so tender and juicy, also has a slightly smoky scent. This will be my go to recipe from now on. This video RULES! Right to the point, and no fluff . . .and enjoyed the canine show at the 3:14 mark.
One thing to add . . .On my end, I would quite often buy as many as 4 or 5 corned beef briskets at a time from the grocery store, and spend the entire weekend cooking them in a slow cooker. My technique was to add just a bit of water (and the spice pack(s) that came with them), and cook it for 8 to 10 hours just like you said. But my secret was to reuse the water and cook another brisket in the same liquid base that the previous brisket came out of. Going to try the same technique that you used, but cook each following one in the same leftover liquid that the first one left as residual, and see how the results turn out. Will let you know how it turns out . . . .Take care.

Wow! I just put one in my slow cooker with the seasoning packet plus black peppercorns, black pepper, and lemon pepper. No liquid. Never done it this way, but my money's on your method. Thanks for the pro tip...

@@TosTinManEasyCooking We've been brining our own corned beef for the last 10 days. Never did it before but we thought we'd give it a try. It's like 5 pounds. We cut it in half just now and are cooking half of it now overnight in the slow cooker. We like the typical corned beef seasoning package so we're making our own of that. If it comes good in the morning, we'll put the other half of the meat in, if not, we'll do it in water. Will let you know the results! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

@@TosTinManEasyCooking Well, we did it both ways in the crock pot: with and without water, did a good rinse of the meat both times. Your method cooked great overnight and while it was tasty, it was very salty. So we decided to do the second piece of corned beef in the crock pot with water. I added potatoes and carrots and parsnips in hopes of drawing out some of the salt from the meat. It came better, less salty. I think the next time I do a brine for brisket, I'll use less kosher salt. And I will definitely be trying your method again.

UPDATE: the corned beef came out excellent using a Crock Pot/Slow Cooker. I left it for 9 hours and it was very tender and juicy. This is the only way I will ever cook them from now on. Fantastic method. I just added spices and threw it in with no liquids. Unbelievably good. Thanks again!

I agree. Cooking it overnight in the crock pot is a great way to cook corned beef. However, I also let my corned beef chill overnight. That way you can get beautiful slices worthy of company, without most of the roast looking like a dog's dinner. Simply reheat slices on low in your oven, before serving -- adding extra garlic, or a brown sugar mustard glaze, or whatever extra seasonings if you like. The chilling really improves the texture. Before cooking, I also let my roast soak in cold water, about 30 mins, for every pound, changing the water every half hour, to release some of the salt, giving you a heartier beef flavor.

Yes, you would have to soak out the salt, this recipe was horribly salty.
