Talking to chris specifically because he’s one of the main reasons I started my channel, being on RUclips the past 10 months or so has shown me that what you said is so true. Straight up reviewing movies is easily the most painful video to make, rankings and stuff is so much more fun. Getting negative feedback just because you didn’t like a movie, even if you say it in a non-hating way, gets you so much backlash for no reason. Keep it up! Love the pod

Maybe a way to put your mind at ease would be to start each review video with some sort of quote like "after one viewing, on this day, this is how I feel". Because everyone who looks at movies with any sort of critical eye can change their view of a movie over time. And context is huge: Cultural norms change, I change, and my opinion on movies I watched 30 years ago are so vastly different than how I feel about many of those movies today.

Hi Chris, I think reviewing Dune opens itself to criticism because it’s similar to someone who loved the Harry Potter books but doesn’t love the films. Dune is an incredible and faithful adaptation of the books and a lot of the things you stated regarding the film actually make sense if you read the books, meaning the weird and confusing and only alluded to relationships etc are exactly how they are in the books, the story is meant to make you feel a little on the outside and questioning and unsure because spoiler it’s all a satire, Paul isn’t really a hero, it’s not an epic like Star Wars it’s more like a haha you people fell for this story of a hero but it’s actually a story about how ridiculous prophecies cause people to cling to things that aren’t what they seem. For anyone who hasn’t read the books and read about Frank Herbert’s meaning behind them I think the films are coming across as the next big thing and some epic again Star Wars type story but they aren’t meant to be that at all so your critiques are completely fair, if I hadn’t read the books and knew the lore I would come away from the movies a bit confused and like parts were lacking but as someone who has read the books and knows the lore the movies are literally perfect from that perspective. The story itself is really just only some people’s cup of tea. I watched the first movie before reading the book and felt so similar to your initial review but then went back and read the books and listened to a bunch of commentary and now I totally get the films and why they are the way they are. As hard as it is, try not to take people’s comments personally, these books and this story are many years in the making and mean a lot to those people so you were honestly just walking into the lion’s den. It’s why again to circle back, I loved the Harry Potter movies but I’ve never read the books and have no desire to so when I meet people who read the books and are purists in that way and don’t watch the films or didn’t love them I digress because they know the story in a way I don’t and their feelings towards the films hold much more significance.
Some advice although Im no expert on this subject, but your reviews of movies are just your opinions. Everyone has different movie tastes. And every review you do your always gonna have people who agree and disagree
The cast is so perfect I can’t even lie. I mean as a CEvans fan, yes rest in peace but Joseph Quinn is going to be so good ahhhh

Calling people who hate on Eddie fans weird is the most fucking ironic thing I have seen in my god damn life,
I don’t understand the hate towards him or Joseph I think both actor and character are awesome and Quinn’s performance as Munson makes me very excited to see what he does as Johnny Storm
I find it ridiculous to criticize people's opinions, I have some very controversial opinions and I know that everybody has there own opinions
