I personaly dont agree with them being isolated from the MCU because they're explorers, they've introduced so many iconic characters to Marvel and it'd just be a shame to never really do that
I honestly love this casting and this poster has sold me on both the film and the cast almost immediately, my theory for how they get from the 1960s to modern day is similar to Captain America 1 in that instead of being frozen they go go the quantum realm or something for 60 minutes to them but it ends up being 60 years in reality thus explaining why they were missing during The Infinity Saga
Only thing(hehe) about Ebon Moss Bacharach is he'd need to bulk up and work out cause Ben Grimm is a big guy pre transformation(he's a former brawler and football player)
I'm not sure how indicative of the movie that artwork from the casting announcement will be. I am a little weary of the whole skipping the origin story thing, though. You can do that with characters like Batman, Spider-Man, and Superman because of how ingrained their origins are in the pop culture zeitgeist. I don't think that's really the case with the Fantastic Four. I think the best option would be to do something along the lines of the Spider-Verse movies' "let's do this one last time" bit.
Having torch narrate it would be kinda sick too. Itd sort of be like him doing an interview of how they got together, got their powers, and what they are currently up to, to catch the audience up
I’m happy to see Herbie will be in this movie, also I doubt he, she, whatever, will be a full on member of the team, I think Herbie might be more like an assistant or something like giving Reed tools for his experiments or whatever in his lab, sort of like what Herbie was in Super Hero Squad
I do think that the Fantastic Four will be connected to the MCU. Think. This takes place in the 60s, so they could be like stuck in like a space wormhole and when they come out, it’s modern day
The casting is brilliant. The 60s setting brings a smile to my face. However, the only thing I have mixed feelings over is Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards. He just doesn't look like the type of actor to portray an intellectual scientist.
if the suits have circuity lining them, then my brain immediately goes to how the vault suit in fallout's 4 and 76 are. Weird thing to jump to but look those up when you can pup, those are kinda a way I could see those suits being done. Subtle enough to convey that yeah, these are test jump suits but minimal to where they're not covered in wires and cables.
This movie has to be good. I love the Fantastic Four, and I feel like this movie will be bad, and it better not be. They better give them simple, classic costumes, not give Reed a beard, and keep the great family dynamic. I'm glad it will be set in the 60's, just like their best comics. But why can't they cast a blond actor for Johnny? And I hope Sue does sound American.

I think F4 is gonna be set in an alternate reality 60's, and when the incursions threaten the multiverse and worlds collide I imagine them, probably like Deadpool, are gonna end up as refuges on the main earth with their histories rewritten as having *always* been a part of the world (and in the Four's case; the modern day). I mean it's how Miles Morales ended up in the main universe permanently with all his supporting cast plus his school intact, so I imagine thats how the Deadpool characters and 60's Fantastic Four can get rolled over after they have mostly standalone introductions in the MCU.

Phase 1 had Tony say Iron Man was an inaccurate term, the 107th react to Steve saying he’s Captain America (as he was nothing but propaganda and movies) as well as the mockery of the name “Red Skull” by the people Schmidt ultimately disintegrated. Phase 2 has Tony mocking Iron Patriot, Star-Lord’s name getting messed up or questioned every time, and Falcon questioning “Ant-Man.” Phase 3 has Tony mocking the name Spider-Man: “not in that onesie you’re not”, Kaecilius misunderstanding Doctor Strange’s name, Vulture mocking the Shocker name, and Spider-Man saying “oh we’re using our made up names” to Doctor Strange. Separately- Agents of SHIELD has a line listing several comic characters ending with: “who’s naming these things?” Also the name “Quake” in that show is ridiculed and actually usually despised by the character it refers to. Most times someone with a ridiculous name shows up it happens.
