Why is humanity so bad at using parking brakes? It's so baffling how this keeps happening xD.
Youd be surprised how often theyre broken when people don't care about their car...
I almost never use parking brake, i left it in a gear ;)

As well as using their indicators and stopping at Stop signs... Oh and merging and the list goes on haha.
What's baffling is that there's no auto brake technology. No one in driving seat = brakes on. Here I'll write the code. 'If ($driverseatweight < $weightofadulthuman) {&ApplyBrakes;}'

I'll never understand how you can forget to put the vehicle in park. That's as reflexive as starting it up.

Never thought about it possibly being a manual? Newer cars dont let you turn the engine off if you're not in park. And older ones usually dont let you take the key out

@@sicklygreyfoot here 90% drive manuals. And a lot of people dont use the handbrake, especially in automatics. In a manual, you don't shift to anything if you wanna park, unless there's a big hill

I just don't understand how people have a massive empty space to manoeuvre in and they still manage to hit the one tiny obstruction there. I guess it's just carelessness because they know they do have all that space.
They just don't care to look, I guess they didn't expect to be anything there.
Some people lack the ability to comprehend 3-dimensional space, and can only relate to what is exactly in front of their eyes.

You mean he took his foot of the gas in time, but still couldn't figure out why he was going backwards.
@@thedarkemissaryNo, they came to a complete stop, for multiple seconds, before continuing backwards. They had hit the brakes in time, but then took their foot off and stuffed it into the other car.

Am I the only person who's never stopped and got out of a car without putting the handbrake on? I just can't comprehend why people do that.
My car has been parked the whole winter without the hand brake to avoid having the brake pads of my rear drum brakes sticking to the drum. So I park it in first gear only. I'm using my hand brake only when not at home like on public parking spots and such.
I can see how people might do things differently when they're just getting out of the car briefly, then returning. I occasionally have to think about the process then vs the automatic behavior of normal parking.

I has nothing to do with the "handbrake". In the USA, almost all cars have automatic gear boxes, and for the most part, in Drive, even at idle they move. This is why you have to keep you foot on the brake pedal. People have been run over by their own cars because of forgetting to put the selector in "Park". Imagine that you leave your F-150 V8 in drive and step out of the vehicle, trip and fall down underneath. This happened before.
There should be a safety feature for those who forget to put their vehicle in park while the engine is running and they decide to step out. To complicate matters, some car makers have complicated the drive modes from being a selector to some kind of electronic button. People are getting easily confused now.

The first lesson my driving instructor insisted upon was to always use your handbrake when parking.

HA! I have no faith that any of these fools passed driving instruction at all, lots of people driving with no license of any kind.
In the USA the 'parking-brake' is usually referred to incorrectly as the 'emergency-brake', plus it's often foot-operated so drivers become very lazy, relying on their automatic-transmission to hold it in 'Park', but that's not what it's designed to do full-time!

Try practicing counter steering, it's amazingly effective in situations like this.
In this case he should have (apart from paying attention to what he was doing of course) _pushed_ the handlebar on the right hand side.
Push right, go right. Push left, go left.
Sounds illogical, but it works. Could save your life sometime.

That is every advanced green left turn. Some 60 percent of drivers see the advanced green left arrow and take up to a minute to decide what to do.

Almost every car out there has it in the center, even the ones with new electronic press button ones, for EXACTLY this kind of situation where the driver can't do it themselves. I guarantee this older Nissan sedan has it in the center like almost every other car. Why are you guys even trying to defend this? She panicked and did nothing. End of story. Yea i've noticed that too, in fact they rarely get the captions right. I dont understand whats going on there, because you can clearly hear what is being said in most of the clips, but still the captions are wrong.
There's no human captioning the videos. It's the same software that translates voice to text on your phone.
What do you expect from a channel that cranks out several videos a day

I had a moment like that myself once. I was reverse parking and I was trusting my parking sensors too much. I knew I was close to the car parked in the spot behind me but I didn't know how close exactly. The sensors didn't light up so I kept crawling backwards until I hit the car behind me. The sensors didn't light up at any point. Luckily, I was going at a snail's pace so there was no damage to either car, and the owner of the other car was nearby so we settled it quickly. We basically decided to pretend nothing happened because there was no damage. I certainly don't trust the sensors anymore.

@@honcore1443 You can't see where your rear ends by using mirrors. That's something you should just "know" about your car, and that I have gotten a feeling for since, but the point is that I didn't think I needed to until my sensors failed me.

@@honcore1443 The back mirror shows you what's behind, but if you don't have experience using it for parking, you won't know where the car's rear end is, especially if it's a sedan like mine so the rear end isn't where the window is. Again, yes, I should have learned to park using mirrors sooner than I did, but if you don't already know the dimensions of your car, you can't just use this method the first time you need it. It takes practice.

I’m also guilty of this. As a pillion passenger, the driver needed to fetch something he’d forgotten from the house, and after making sure I was steady holding the bike said ‘Have you got it?’. I said yes and promptly fell over at 90 degrees. Still have the scars 😂
