This is the second episode from my interview with Father John Behr, who is Regius Professor of Humanity at the University of Aberdeen. He previously taught at St. Vladimir’s Seminary, where he served as Dean from 2007-17; he is also the Metropolitan Kallistos Chair of Orthodox Theology at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam, and the Amsterdam Center for Orthodox Theology.
Father John finished a new critical edition and translation of Origen's On First Principles for Oxford University Press, and is working on a new edition and translation of the complete works of St. Irenaeus of Lyons.

☦️I came to this video by accident after I wrote an exegesis of Isaiah 54 in the original Hebrew to refute some false rabbi's claims. Before we see the Church there, we see it is a prophecy about the little Synagogue which will become mother Church - the Blessed Virgin Maria & this is actually the announciation of the Christ to her.

The realization of the Church as our mother, as the New Jerusalem (Isaiah 54:1) that we must pass through the crucible / the matrix of the
incarnation to become eucharistic and escatological children transfomed into body of Christ, is the essence of
our existance.
I guess I'm dense. I don't see it.
Why is he working at a Jesuit school?
He's not. St. Vladimir's is an Eastern Orthodox Seminary.
