- French police on Monday questioned screen legend Gérard Depardieu after two women accused him of sexual assault, his lawyer confirmed, adding that the actor was later released. The Paris prosecutor's office said Depardieu would face trial over the allegations in October.

@@txt4r Because processing trauma from sexual assault, or any kind of trauma for that matter, can take many years.
In this particular case I would imagine it was also because Depardieu is a very powerful man in French popular culture, and his alleged victims were afraid of potential negative repercussions if they reported him.

( eg if your car is stolen - you dont wait 35 years to make the report - you make report same day or next day at most)
