@ 4:13 - The actual performance figures (magazine tests vs. manufacturer's estimates) are a little closer. The '14 911 Turbo Cabriolet sprints to 60 MPH in about 2.8 seconds, while the '14 F-Type accomplishes is in 3.5 seconds. The 911 is still much faster, but the gap isn't anywhere near 1.2 seconds (as stated in this review).
F type was designed to be a boxter rival, the fact that it even competes against 911s today is a testament to its capabilities. Mind you this is not even a fair comparison since the 911 is AWD (better launch, better handling) whereas F type is RWD (more fun and insanity), do this when the 4WD F type is out. And don't worry, 911 will meet its jaguar rival soon enough, when the new XK comes out.
The Jag is undoubtedly a nice car it's a blunt instrument next to the Porsche and this is not surprising, you're getting what you paid for, simple as that..
"The Porsche cost twice as much" ??? ...and it's worth every penny. The tech, engineering...etc...classy timeless design, it's the Ultimate everyday Super Car....I mean, who does "burn outs" anymore?
Brandon Jolley I have owned many Porsche's, Jag's , MB's and BMW's but I still like to push my cars to the edge every once in a while. Burnouts are not the reason people buy F-types(or XK's) but for their sexy , badass looks that have the performance to match.
"actual back seats"???? NOT. only if you are an infant, but then you would need a big bulky car seat that wouldn't fit, so no, those are not actual back seats….
Its personality and taste here. Cant go wrong with either, amazing amazing machines. I am an introvert, that likes to get get the most out of my driving, so 911. Actually, just give me a Cayman GTS and ill pocket the rest ;-)
Good one guys loved this comparison. If I could both would be in my garage but the sad reality of life for most of us is we can only choose one and I'll have to go with the Jag. Jag has caught my attention in the last couple of years shedding that "old man" aristocratic moniker. I see S-Types on the road and they look so ancient compared to what Jaguar has out these days. And lets not forget the X-Type (Mondeo).
almost every reviewer has said this, the Jaguar f type and C7 corvette are the same level in terms performance, ride quality, and interior... they even have a similar layout and when people say "i would rather have a c7 corvette over a 911" people freak and and say how could you say that!?!? but when somone says "i would rather have a jaguar f type over a 911" its ok because its suddenly fine even when the vette and jag have same level of refinement, performance, and theater... but because one has a chevy badge and the other jaguar badge my fellow europeans seem to think its inferior... sad : /
Has to be the Jag as it's a 2 seater, purer convertible. Perhaps a better test would've been against the Boxster GTS on price or the Porsche 911 Targa 4S ?? !!
It's not fair to compare a black interior with eye catching red interior. Have you ever see the F-Type with red interior and contrast stitching? It's stunning! Porsche's red interior are way too red all over comparing to F-type touches of red.
Prob would have skipped the Turbo S and bought the Jag V6s with another daily driver like a Range Rover or an Audi S7. I mean I respect that car, but Porsches are just everywhere now You can prob spot at least 2-5 911s in one day, and the biggest problem is that most people dont even see any differences between the cayman, carrera, targa and turbos. I know its a little superficial to say that. but tbh, anyone paying over 100K for a sports car prob want other people to admire their car. Or if your after speed. Just get an GTR, M4 and still having enough money to get a safe Volvo wagon for the family:)
Being a Porsche fan, I would opt for the Turbo S but in hardtop form. Here's a question - let's assume both cars cost 100k and you had the cash. Which one would you buy?
Jaguar of course, Jag excites visually and dynamically, the Porsche is ugly and less fun... Would take a Mclaren over a Porsche instead if I had $200k+, but the Jag would still be at the top of my list.
Why not the Carrera S Cabriolet? Is the F-Type V8S a better value than the Boxster GTS? Wouldn't the eventual F Type R Convertible be the direct competitor to the Turbo S, after all it would have at least 550hp and be the same price point? Inquiring minds...
I couldn't disagree more about the Porsche interior. Porsches have some of the most uninspired interiors in a car today. It looks like it was designed by an engineer, with no aesthetics whatsoever. It's scattered with buttons, and is far from ergonomic. In addition, every Porsche interior feels pretty much the same, from their cheapest car to the most expensive.
It's a mistake to mix German minimalism with being uninspired. The Porsche has great interior ergonomics and quality. It's not a Bentley inside, but it's as good as a Mercedes. Jaguar has some cheap Ford-esque parts in it
No..... First the Porsche has no where near the quality of an Mercedes and second the jaguars interior has no ford parts in it and it looks miles ahead in design and technology.
Having seen both the F-Type and 991 Turbo, the F-Type is just "meh". Given the price, I'll take a V12 Vantage S over the F-Type if it's a $200k vs. comparo. The Turbo's speed is mind numbing.
i wud take the jag. im accually deciding if i want one or not. jags arents the best built cars out there but the f type is just sexyyy and that sound is amazing.. maybe ill just wait fro the rcf nd see. nd i dont like awd. my cars are always gona be rwd.
Jaguar is simply epic, Porsche is ugly and the price is a joke... Been in a few F-types and I can confirm that the interior is top quality and its styled much more tastefully than the square shaped 911 interior!
lool i really laugh nowadays comparing 991 turbo S with the f type ,, just get a reguler carrera s and it will still destroy the jag .. stay away from the turbo s thats a different league that not even real super cars can get close to it (Y)
pretty much nd wats wrong wit tht. if i have a 100k+ car i want it to stand out. i see 30 porches everyday. teh jag just has so much presence nd gets so much attention. ima get one.
turboman1505 no ur just materialistic. it feels good fwhen u rev ur engine nd bitches g4et wet. noone gets wet over a porcher theres 30 others next to u.
Mario dablife Let me get this straight. The person who wants to buy a car for his own enjoyment is materialistic, but someone who wants a car to show off (you) and get attention, is not?
People forget that Porsche brand is the most reliable car brand in the world while Jaguar is always in the bottom of the list with lots of reliability issue.
Sure the jag is nice, indeed, but comparing a jaguar with a porsche, is like saying a bottle of coca cola is the same as a fine wine ?! So, nope ! Porsche for me !
Porsche is the best , jaguar engines are bad as in my experience and the Porsche looks alot better and more attractive than the jaguar when its cruises in rich luxurious places and don't forget the name PORSCHE !!
In auto car the f-type R costs 85.000£ ... I didnt chenged it in $ or € jet but i think its not the dame ad in here and i kniw its an s but how can the s be just expensiveas the R
Problem with both cars... It's a 200k Porsche that looks like even the base Porsche, no one would know the difference on the street and too many people at least in LA drive Porsche's for anyone to care that your in a 200k Porsche because it looks like a base. The interior design is also bland and boring... Also at the end of the day, interior quality only matters where you touch it, I don't see myself ever touching the plastic areas of the Jag and kind of pointless area for it to be super high quality... It's a 100k Jag and can't seem to do 0-60 under 4 seconds in a v8 2 door sports car and it's 2014... (Anyone see where I am getting at with this?) Yes the Jag gets you more attention... when you pound on the gas, I didn't even notice a F-type when it was right in front of me across the street until I heard it's engine revving. Yes it is perfectly fine if you like to show off, but sadly these two cars do it in somewhat bad ways meaning the looks are not exactly eye-catching for either car but the Jag somewhat, but for the Jag it's the engine that shows off. This is at least the way I look at it if you live in LA... If you want to show off, have fun trying to do so out here with these two cars as it won't happen. But it shouldn't be about showing off, it's about enjoying what you buy, if you think a 200k Porsche is more fun than the cheaper base Porsche and is worth the extra price tag, perfect.
A porsche turbo is and looks much wider then a base 911 in person. The hardtop turbo looks more aggressive then this cab and while not everyone will see a difference, I believe even slight car enthusiasts would notice that the turbo has a lot more going on then a 911. The 911 isn't an s class luxury interior but at least for me I do care about refinement to a point (on most cars) but do like appreciate Porsches interiors having great quality on all panels and trim sections. That attention to detail is that something extra. From the cayman to the turbo s Porsches have the same interior and you can look at it two ways. Either it's great the low price Porsches have such good interiors or that the turbo should have a more special interior. The jags interior is almost puzzling to me because their sedans have a much richer and refined place to sit in. I did notice the plastic trim when I was in the f type as well as a few other places that reminded me of some base audi A4's where its fantastic to be in except for the trim where the shifter is. I ask why couldn't they have spent the tiny bit of extra money for a nice aluminum piece.most of the money is not going to the interior of the porsche but the engine, suspension amd other performance aspects. Other reviews have said the pull on the turbo is so bloody fast that you can really tell its very special. If I had to choose between the two I'd get the porsche but would probably choose something with a hard top for the ultimate gt cruiser (which is what I took this comparison was about) an audi r8, Aston martins $100k coupe, the f type r coupe are other choices as well.
By the first year of owning the jag you would have already had it in the shop getting fixed many times. From tires to engine issues plus most of you people can't drive so you will be fixing body issues from hitting things. The porsche on the other hand is built to last so the most you may have to do is a few oil changes. It's all wheel drive so it grips and handles better which equals it's easier to drive fast. That means your chances of being in a ditch goes down. Now let's do the math. Yes the jag is less but by the end you just payed double with maintenance and repairs. So now you've paid the same amount for the porsche yet it's always broken.
where's the giant juicy burnout ????
ftype sounds so devilish, but turbo s is the pinnacle of engineering
of course I will choose the Porsche !
Me too, but i want Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG with BRABUS exterior tuning. That thing is fucking amazing.
SL65 is powerful,good for cruising
but it is heavy and not sporty as this Porsche
***** Yes i know, but i don't think i want to drift with that car.
@ 4:13 - The actual performance figures (magazine tests vs. manufacturer's estimates) are a little closer. Dear AutoGuide.com , that was NOT a burnout at all.
"The Porsche cost twice as much" ??? ...and it's worth every penny.
The tech, engineering...etc...classy timeless design, it's the Ultimate everyday Super Car....I mean, who does "burn outs" anymore?
Everyone that buys sports cars.
Ever heard of drifting??
hyperwebbing not everyone
I've owned several sportscars, guess I've out grown the "burn out" phase
Brandon Jolley I have owned many Porsche's, Jag's , MB's and BMW's but I still like to push my cars to the edge every once in a while. Burnouts are not the reason people buy F-types(or XK's) but for their sexy , badass looks that have the performance to match.
Great try guys. Video review was awesome.
Good work guys, the video was very entertaining!!
Awesome review guys Lol, it was fun to watch. 😃👍
Why not F Type R?
The R is just a re-badged V8S.
Thomas Ferrugia nope... learn your facts. The R has 55 hp more than the V8S. And is 0.2 seconds faster 0-60 mph and has a higher top speed
U Fucking idiot
8:10,so it is a porsche boxter?
real good production value guys,I like the new style and not trying to be yet another top gear style channel. Go Canadians :)
Very entertaining review guys! Now it would be interesting to compare a base 911 with an F-Type V6S Coupe.
Good one guys loved this comparison. If I could both would be in my garage but the sad reality of life for most of us is we can only choose one and I'll have to go with the Jag.

the jaguar sounds soo awsome. Watch Vitalyzdtv go crazy in this car
I agree with Dave. The Jag just looks like the bee's knees.
I live in the 4 state area of WV, MD, VA and PA. You see Porsches everywhere. I can honestly say I have yet to see a F Type. Jaguar for me.
It's not fair to compare a black interior with eye catching red interior. Have you ever see the F-Type with red interior and contrast stitching? It's stunning! Porsche's red interior are way too red all over comparing to F-type touches of red.

Drive the Porsche like it's a Jaguar and the Jaguar like it's a Porsche!
you should make a lambo huricon vs adventador. also porshe 911 turbo s vs 911 gt3 rs.
Is the guy driving the Jag canadian? I can tell by his accent
What about the fact that the base carrera has the same quality of interior (give or take a bit) but is less expensive than that V8 F-Type
The Porsche is a sports car, the Jaguar is a GT. Which would you rather?

Like they say when you buy a Jag make sure you buy two because one of them will be at the garage. They break all the time just like Land Rovers.
I'll take the jag with its throaty as hell exhaust and v8 over a hyperactive v6 and porsche's ridiculous price!
*flat 6
The F-Type tunes to 700HP in 3 hours of easy DYI for $1500.
F type for me please :)

Thank you I totally agree.

pretty much nd wats wrong wit tht. if i have a 100k+ car i want it to stand out. i see 30 porches everyday. teh jag just has so much presence nd gets so much attention. ima get one.
Mario dablife Lol
if you buy a car to impress people, then you have insecurity issues lol. I'd take the Porsche because its the better DRIVER'S CAR.
turboman1505 no ur just materialistic. it feels good fwhen u rev ur engine nd bitches g4et wet. noone gets wet over a porcher theres 30 others next to u.
Mario dablife Let me get this straight. The person who wants to buy a car for his own enjoyment is materialistic, but someone who wants a car to show off (you) and get attention, is not?
Slow down there Turbo!
Note the Jaguar doesn't have 2+2 seat.
If I had the money I'll get both or just pull a Jay Leno and collect them all without worrying too much.
Odd, everyone else is able to get to 60 in 2.6 seconds.
@ luimarco - because both are convertible.. do you even?
People forget that Porsche brand is the most reliable car brand in the world while Jaguar is always in the bottom of the list with lots of reliability issue.
Porsche is much more elegant.
jag sounds way better. But Porsche all day.
Sure the jag is nice, indeed, but comparing a jaguar with a porsche, is like saying a bottle of coca cola is the same as a fine wine ?! So, nope ! Porsche for me !
conclusion is obvious: if you are poor you will buy Jaguar, if the money are not the issue, then you'll buy the best of the best: Porsche. Period.
SLS AMG Black Series for me.
i choose the mazda furai
jesse ga i choose Skyactive Mazda 6 GT in soul red. (:
Porsche is the best , jaguar engines are bad as in my experience and the Porsche looks alot better and more attractive than the jaguar when its cruises in rich luxurious places and don't forget the name PORSCHE !!
This was the stupidest comparison. Of course I would take the porsche. It should've been a 991 Carrera s and the ftype. Worst review
Rich people will directly take the Porsche the jaguar is for the people that have a lower budget
I'm sorry shouldn't it be Porsche Boxster Turbo s Cabriolet vs.2014 Jaguar F-Type V8 s?!
i take the jag cause it's a sports car, the turbo is more like gt car
not even a question, Jag is more classy? R u kidding me? no sports car is better than the porsche 911. Period.
They don't even compare it's the f type coupe r this video makes no sense
yes it does! both are convertibles! you can't compare a convertible to a coupe between two different cars
The only reason anyone will take the jag is because they can.t afford the Porsche.
In auto car the f-type R costs 85.000£ ... I didnt chenged it in $ or € jet but i think its not the dame ad in here and i kniw its an s but how can the s be just expensiveas the R
The Porsche is just soooo much better than an old man's Jag loooool XD
youngprankster94 porsche is faster. That’s all. The Jaguar beats it in everything else.
He said Porsche boxer...
a 997 turbo is still better perfromance and about the same price as a jag XD

Awd would make the jag better.
0-60 in 3.0 sek ? o.O it´s more faster 2.7 sek
you cant really use any of their power out on the street. both are way to fast...legally speaking.
Jag ;)

porsche its better more than 100000 dollars of jaguar...and two cars so difrent...thay have put jaguar and carrera 4 s...price is same...
feels like its all scripted..
i will buy the jag
The red car is a nissan z.
Cool joke, bro !
911!
lol dollar shave club
This just shows how overpriced porsche is the Jaguar is a much better car.
Porsche is more practical, faster, and more head turning than that jaguar.
That porsche is ugly give me a gt3 for 140
Boring review !
