Whether you like new world or not, I think we can all agree that seeing them not let this game die is really cool. Like the dev dedication is really good and the fact that they are truly making changes based on what people said is even better. Hopefully this update can help revive the game because I truly think theres a lot of potential with new world.
I gave up on this game, but seeing these changes will definitely have me returning. I'm actually excited for this!
@@xcams4599 for a week n then your gone
This was being worked on well before the game flopped. Now it can truly die
i mean its good for the 10k players left..
Look at No Man's Sky, game went from shit to legendary in terms of content updates and developers loyalty to the game. I quit after an hour when it released and now have 63 hours played.

Asmon is 100% spot on, MMO require people to see other people. New World died for me when even the main cities became ghost towns, its depressing and I simply stopped playing just like countless 100,000's of other players.
just pick a populated server , there is many .
its Amazon, i dont know why it cant get a single server. or atleast a single market.
@@sodemnaveen4303 amazon is not amazon games studio , they are two complete different companies .
My biggest pet peeves was war and invasions being gated to such a limited player base. The endgame was already sparse so why would the devs make a system that forces the player base to self mutilate? Some servers I had played on created ways of rotating people to give some chance for others to experience invasions while still keeping a strong core group to carry. This only kept the server community happy for so long though.
However, if the game continues to make improvements I wish them all the best!
The mass reporting bans during war were kind of a bummer and the distribution of gold to a few companies that owned a couple of towns. Not to mention all the BOTS.
What killed the game to me was the broken economics as a consequence of the skill levelling system. I desidred to specialize in one craft and role-playing into the economy of the server, crafting stuff for money, to spend in on other people's products, that would have been beautiful...
BUT since anything you craft gives xp it soon became clear to players that raw materials are more desirable than finished items, since you can "exctract" xps from them. Raw Iron is worth much more than golden rings. There is also nothing stopping high level players from crafting hundreds or even thousands of low level items just for the sake of xps, which they then put on the market for pennies. At any level below 60 you have no reason to loot in doungeons since the best gear and consumables that your level can use are probably on the market for a fraction of the gp you made with quests, and there is no point in crafting beside levelling up the skills.
THIS
I mean I know plenty of crafters that make A LOT of gold from crafting weapons or gear. The main issue imo is that you need to be aware of what's meta to roll or you'll risk losing a lot of gold instead
Even well intentioned casual players were forced out of role-play by the skill system: When running the map for erbs it didn't make sense not to pick up everything else along the route and craft something with it (literally free xp laying on the ground). This meant that while role playing as an alchemist, I was also levelling up for all other roles, not because I wanted but because the game made extremely irrational not to do so. This applied to everyone, so in the end we could all do everything and roles were meaningless
Dont forget that it was possible to duplicate items and gold. It was just a shit show after some time. Also reporting players before a fight to get a save city.
what killed the game was multiple things. in MY opinion, biggest reasons were: the horrible pvp bugs that people would exploit to gain the edge to be able to win wars for territories, the multiple duplication bugs that DESTROYED the economy/ left players unable to use the trade post for hours if not days, horrible and confusing gear score grind that was heavily rng reliant until they added the gypsum system (which by then most players had quit), the crafting system being far too rng reliant and extremely hard to get into at the high end because of the multiple requirements needed to be fulfilled to be able to have a CHANCE at a max gearscore role, and perks being too rng also (they make it better with schematics etc i can't remember the name but at that point it was too late), and the levelling experience was very... empty imo, lots of big gaps between being able to do the mains story quests so you had to wonder around aimlessly doing townboards and side quests all across the map for exp until you unlock the next main story quest. and lastly but the most important of all. no. end game. content. with. replayability. and. rewards. worth. your. time.
edit: also the fact people would abuse the report system to ban the leaders of companies etc to cuck people from managing their territories and so on, and the game as a whole really wasn't ready for release. it should have been in development for another 2-3 years with how things have been looking on their roadmap, this game needs meaningful content.
This looks great, and I hope they get their game's systems together eventually.
Key word eventually
@@Nathan-bf7mt very possible, they have the funds (provided Amazon doesn’t give up)

What's really going to suck is how Amazon is going to figure out how this engine can handle more than 2.2k people per server. The game engine is whats truly holding this game back and the devs had no idea how to use it at the start.
I had the same experience. The atmosphere was just enthralling. Combat felt engaging. Going on gathering runs with pvp enabled was a real thrill. I was hooked for a solid month and it was one of the best times I've had in a while. It wasn't untill I stumbled upon youtuber videos showcasing the "roll bug" and subsequently the auction house glitches that followed when amazon tried to fix said roll bug that I saw what a heap of crap the game was built on. After the servers went down for maintanance that day I took my good memories and moved on. Still havent touched the game since.
talking about what was said around the 30:45 mark, thats honestly one of the biggest attractions to NW. The fact that there is no P2W content in the game alone should make this game get way more support than what it gets now. I just hope this expansion really turns the game around and makes it the game we were all hoping for back when it released. ( Marauder gang btw Grove Street for life)
Wish MMOs had a NG+ mode to replay the campaign and all quests again at max level. What good is the low level areas being reworked going to do to whats left of the player base.
After seeing this I finally downloaded and played the game. First day was a blast honestly. I like the voice acting I feel combat at least with spear and bow is great fun guns have been also fun. The lifeskilling is fine but of course like you said I know nothing of the struggles of end game so I guess I’ll see but honestly the game is good

So they’re finally adding new enemies? Maybe some quests that aren’t the same? Finally making towns at least look a little different? Cool. Maybe this game will be worth playing again in another 3 years
I love the heart these devs put in the game. Really gives me hope for the game to pull out a Realm Reborn moment to some extent, in the future.

I started New World again 2 weeks ago and I have a lot of fun so far and hope that carries over to this big update. It’s just good to see a video game company actually caring about their community and listen to them. I come from League and there it is exactly the opposite.
Copium
@@orbbb24 So tell me what did they work on what was heavily requested by the community and don’t tell me these 2-3 skins where the community voted for…I play this game since Season 3 mate and there are a handful of things when they actually listened to the community. The only reason I still play it is because I play in a competitive environment and I’m not even the guy complaining about Teamranked should come back
I started playing a few days or a week later after release date and I quit when I was level 25 or 28. It did become very repetitive. All the towns felt the same. One major thing that really had me disappointed was the questing system with friends. Trying to do quest together with a giant chore. You go to the quest board and you and your friend have different quest, and a lot of the times those don't even require you to go to the same areas together. You can't share quest with party members. Each town has the exact same quests. That part of the game became very boring, very quickly. There were other problems with the game that also added to me quitting, but those were more glaring in the eyes of the developers and we're always going to be addressed first, like the exploitation of the market by certain players through the use of glitches. I do hope this game does keep improving in the near future.
@@SantasGAINdeer I'm actually visually impaired, so much so that I did not notice this in my time playing it. The town just felt very similar to me even with me lacking the ability to notice details. Imagine my surprise and disappointment hearing on this video that a lot of the buildings were copy and paste. They put so much effort into making the game look graphically amazing compared to other MMOs, yet it's apparent where they chose to cut corners come on copy and pasting a lot of the building seems like a weird choice to me. I feel like this game should have been and development at the very least one more year before being released.
Just add the ability to vendor items to NPCs in the game. That will set a price floor to the trading post and reign in the inbalance of resources to crafted items
Whether you play new world or not, you should want it to be good and attract players
Having several good MMOs doing things right is good for the whole mmo scene. With several good MMOs you get competition between them to push all of them to get better.
AGS deserves exactly what they sold us, an unfinished, unpolished turd rolled in glitter.
@@gamezonereactions8388 Who hurt you
I'll definitely give New World another look, its been a year and the problems with the game were crystal clear to most vet MMO players. Lets see if they fixed them.
This is exactly what I said when I played. There were so many flaws just barely hidden that if you play a lot of MMOs for a long time you can pick it out right away, around level 25. Not having end game content besides PvP was a huge mistake. I love running dungeons and especially loved the mythic dungeon system in WoW. It's one of the only things that kept me playing retail and made me come back for Classic was difficult dungeons. NW lacking some kind of element for that was beyond disappointing. Super excited for FFXIV's new dungeon system and I hope NW will pick up one, something unique for themselves to accomplish that feeling of achievement for the players. It gives purpose to the grind.
@@Xeoena4207 Well there’s not a whole lot else out there right now in my humble opinion. Might as well give New World another shot already paid for it, lol
@@thegenxgamerr I agree entierly my friend. The gameplay is fun and helps people not traditionally into MMOs grt a similar experience. Hoorah!
@@Xeoena4207 I always thought that out it’s hard it was a decent game. It had some major flaws at release which we all saw but it had potential. They have already tbh
Its good to see the Devs listening to us. This game is shaping up. Keep up the Communication Amazon!
i have recently returned (2 weeks) and just hit 60, the game has come a lonnnngg way since launch. no stupid dungeon key systems, community chest runs, mutations for end game dungeons 1-10 (mythic+) it still needs some polishing but they are heading in the right direction imo
When the update comes out, going to make a fresh character and test the game out. Haven't played for almost a year now but excited to see how the game has changed.
Lots of changes jn end game too , everything is easier
23:44 That was one of my favorite things in MMOs like Aion when it was still popular. Meeting other people leveling up or rifting for PVP. I miss the feeling of getting an item drop that you can actually wear and help you and not just dungeon drops.
I was on the PTR and the great sword is awesome cant wait for the update this October.
13:00 New World is FINALLY adding mounts.
I really enjoyed a lot of NW, I can't wait for it to update, I'll come back to play it.
I think besides the Josh strife Hayes and internet hate, a lot of people enjoyed new world.
It really was fresh exciting and awesome to just level with everyone without instances and being apart of a world that’s alive.
Too bad that they launched the game with 3 enemy types and like 2 dungeons…
If the game launched in this current state, I’d say we’d still have 100k concurrent players.
Hopefully they can keep adding way more to this game, there really isn’t anything like it out there at all
One huge issue for me is the Settlement influence gameplay.
It makes ZERO sense that a faction competing for influence over a settlement can respawn at the fucking settlement and use its vendors.
Its like if the French tried to take an English castle and the English king let the French live in his fucking castle before the battle.
Its a simple fix, if you choose to participate in the influence quests the settlement should be immediately locked for you, meaning you can't respawn there or use its vendors (gates closed).
If you choose to cancel the influence quests the settlement will be on a 20 minute cooldown for you or something before it unlocks. You can still setup a camp right outside the settlement if you want but the defending faction can also destroy your camp in turn destroying your respawn near the settlement.
This would make the gameplay so much better than just non stop zergs running circles in the settlement doing the quests with unlimited respawns and repairs at the same settlement.
It would make attacking more enjoyable and rewarding making it so you have to actually organize and coordinate an attack while defenders can actually defend and repel the attacking forces.
I always thought it would be cool if there was some underground region in cities that you can only access if your faction isn't in control of the territory. It could have random buffs/vendors that give you a different kind of advantage, like slum lords that give you missions or something like that. It would make it feel like the world is reacting to who is in charge. Obviously owning the territory would be better, but it would fuel that necessary "fighting chance" and underdog attitude.
@@vecislt oh so like it would just be all guild v guild, no green guilds v purple guilds? I can see that helping too.
@@vecislt how do you feel having that opinion with them teasing Faction HQs? is this them doubling down and trying to improve on factions, is it like a 'test run' for company HQs later? These are my thoughts, curious of others. I actually L O V E the idea of rebel parties and guerilla themes, removes the illusion of these perfect, harmonious cities.
i quit at around 900 hoursish max level, almost max gearscore on everything, the game was just super stale in the end game and felt like there wasnt really much to work toward to, this update will help out alot.
Picking it up this weekend. Seems like a great deal at $20. Amazon seems very committed to making the game work, and like Asmon said, it has the least P2W/monetization of mmos.
I hope u enjoy it ! dont rush it
Enjoy the pronouns, chud 👍
lol 50% off, what a joke
To the question: "Did you stop because it became too repetitive?" Yes... After it dawned on me what the entirety of content was about, it just killed me internally to keep on playing, it was rewarding to explore and have the journey from lvl 1-60, but.. If you've done one of the zones and their quests.. you've technically already done them all.. It was incredibly counter-intuitive for me, and I tried being ahead of the curve a little bit for my friends to be able to explain some things or help them out with quests/zones, essentially just giving that little nudge but not robbing them of their own progression and experience. I think it boils down to having ADD and how rewards work for me, and the way you succeed in New World, doesn't provide a satisfying scratch so to say for me, not in its current stage at least. I will probably come back and try again with New World later and see what has improved.
So the big things are not changed still...
Once they add mounts into the game I'll definitely reinstall

It wouldn’t make sense to add mounts

Never gonna happen unless the map becomes way bigger.

Personally, I need to see dynamic events in the world, more variety, daily quests, etc. On top of that, we need a lot more content for the PvP, meaningful arenas, etc. And most of all, we need a meaningful gear progression, not opening chests endlessly. probably not, but just wishful thinking on your part.
@@miqotesoulia8620 Wishful thinking? You're literally watching a video of the dev team talking about how they're step-by-step fixing/improving the game. I feel like it's fair to give the devs, who most likely want to keep their jobs, the benefit of the doubt that they are actually going to continue working on the game.
The problem for me was grinding item levels. It just sucks running in a train with everyone. Ow and we need mounts
29:20 damn that guess for basically spot on for me (37) x) I also quit because i was doing the same 5 quests from the townboard for like hours on end and there was no real escape to it besides going on a zerk and killing all the red zones which were alot of times either under or overleveled.
For what it's worth, I recently came back to the game after quitting sometime around December, and I decides to roll a fresh character. The leveling experience even now is so much better compared to what it was before. Like you, I remember the last 20 levels to 60 being a complete slog, I was just spamming town board quests and that's it. Idk it probably took me less time to get to 60 now than it took me to get to 40 back in November.
Probably giving it another shot when the expansion hits. Never got to the end game on initial release, the leveling and finding people for dungeons was so miserable that I quit pretty fast.
To be fair the massive economy exploits killed the game for me. With how rampant they were I fully expect that it’s still screwed as all hell right now.
Why do people come and post on these things when they have 0 grasp of the state of the game. Duping has been dealt with whether it’s bans or rollbacks. Posts like these are just ignorant and undermine all the hard work of the devs and the passionate fans that still enjoy the game
What I respect the most about New World is it’s price of entry and continued cost. 40 bucks (20 on sale now) and you have the game and can play as much as you want. The reason I quit both WOW and FF14 is the subscription cost really starts to add up.
This had me hyped. Got it opening week, got to level 45 and stopped cause it wasn't doin too hot. Definitely would get back in for this
I will give the game a try again once the expansion comes out to test out the new levelling experience with the re-vamped levelling zones. Would also be cool to try out the greatsword.
I tried it today on the PTR, it's a lot better compared to what we had at launch
@@ttcacacaca Hmm okay. That solidifies my decision then, thank you.
If they didn't want to do Mounts, they could do Travel powers, like the super hero games. I'd be ok with Flying, Teleporting, Speed runs, and other travel power because Azoth does give us as the Player powers. This way they could still ignore mounts. However if they go with mounts, i really hope they do them like GW2 mounts.
Im happy to see them keep working on the game, i will say that the game still lacks many many features to feel like a proper mmo. Random things around the world to do, an actual storyline and story etc.
I mean they they have a dozen new enemies... that brings them up to 23 different mobs in total!!!
There is a storyline tho...?

in regards to the thing with evidence of egyptians in america, Supposedly, One of the Tombs in Egypt was discovered to have Tobacco and Cocoa inside. the reason that is considered evidence is because Cocoa and tobacco are not native to the eastern continents and is primarily located in middle to south America and the Caribbean. and supposedly this tomb was over 5,000 years old, which is LONG before the countries of Europe and Asia traveled to the Americas and 4,000 years before the Vikings.

The level design is amazing.
I’m real happy for the early game revamp cuz I played a ton in beta but barely touched launch. Waiting for a greatsword update. Now that it’s getting added I won’t just be doing the same shit I did in beta when I reinstall it
Still have big hopes for New World. It was awesome to play and has so much future potential.
is releasing "desert map" with pyramids is the new trend now? genshin, tof, new world, aoc does this
I may try out New World after all! Looks very promising
This expansion can be the ESO Orsinium expac for NW. Its coming to be like a make it or break it moment for NW. have to be real though, the zones and the changes seems to be quality.
asmongold, you are a multimillionaire, you seem to have so much experience with MMORPGs and you have good constructive criticism. with all the money you have, why cant you take a tiny small portion of it and make your own game by hiring your own devs/designers? so that you can prove that what you say has potential to change the gaming world.
Yes, because a tiny portion of a few millions is absolutely enough to make an mmorpg. Why not give him a very reasonable 3 month deadline too?
19:35 “yeah it’s like, you have Amazon, IN THE GAME!” 🤣🤣
This games gonna have 4 expansions and itll finally be a whole MMO.
Meanwhile, WoW, FFXIV, ESO and GW2 are still successful and will be even more by the time NW is a complete base game.
It is strong evidence that kemet (Egypt) was in America during Pangea. This is why Horus has a falcons head that’s indigenous to America.
Genshin Impact
-They need Dual Wield weapon too (not daggers) but like Axe and sword.
-Also the combat need more depth, with only having 3 (or 4 cant remember) skill, you need to weapon dance all the time to press skills. They need to either add combo with your normal weapon skill or add more skills (think GW2 they dont have a ton of skills on the bar like wow, but they have enough for each weapon then you can swap weapon to have other skills).
- if they make the world bigger and add mounts later on, they need to make traversing the world fun. Like Tower of Fantasy, GW2 with mounts. Give some mounts a huge jump that you can use to get over large rock, jump on ledge and some sprint mechanic for other mounts. We could have glider equipment to slow fall from high mountains all the way down in a more speedy manners.
-Housing (with all the wood cutting, stone gathering, etc.. we do, we should be able to build a custom house like survival games, make it instanced idc)
Would love for them to create a new server for returning players so we can all start from scratch without all the bugs and duping from the initial release
not a bad idea, i think i would partake
I recently switched back to Guild wars 2 after not playing forever to find a solid no subscription MMO, This literally checks almost all the boxes that New world does in all the ways Asmongold is saying, without the super capitalist correlation. When you get to end game everything is lateral and it's all about experiencing. You see New world taking that from not changing the level of item caps. Weapon switching is also something that's always been in Guild wars. Vanilla Guild wars also ended with skeleton ghost pirates in the main campaign. It really looks like the debs at New world are trying to take as much inspiration from that game and put it into theirs tbh.
I love how everyone is doing the desert theme at the same time (New World, ToF and Genshin).
This update looks great - New World is one of the only games I've ever quit and sincerely planned on coming back at some point in the future. I really would like more quality of life upgrades - I'm a mount guy so thats something I want. I also want catch up gear - like if you come back after being gone for a while maybe give players a questline to catch players up with the changes and get some gear upgrades outside of the standard systems.
To anyone thinking mounts will mess up the PvP in this game. All they have to do is to disable mounts in PvP to areas and people who have PvP on. You want to use a mount? Disable PvP. Oh you want to PvP again? Disable mounts. Simple work around. 👍
but its also new world which promotes sticking to which ever company actually has the most power. and Faction, like wow.
One guy tried to prove that Egyptians sailed to North America, he actually sailed across the ocean in a boat made of papyrus to prove it could be theoretically possible, however I don't think anyone in the anthropology or historical community believes this occurred.
@@sirbonobo3907 On May 17, 1970, Norwegian ethnologist Thor Heyerdahl and a multinational crew set out from Morocco across the Atlantic Ocean in Ra II, a papyrus sailing craft modeled after ancient Egyptian sailing vessels. Heyerdahl was attempting to prove his theory that Mediterranean civilizations sailed to America in ancient times and exchanged cultures with the people of Central and South America. The Ra II crossed the 4,000 miles of ocean to Barbados in 57 days. Yeah, I just made that all up, off the top of my head.
Great swords and new player area, I might have to check it out when this drops
The new world devs doing such an incredible job to be honest, and the amount of time they done it is really impressive. Just look at their major patches coming about every 2-3months and almost all of them contains something major game changing or reworks and now they are releasing a whole expansion for free, while reworking older zones and releasing new weapons.
For blizzard just doing one of these would take years and you would have to pay a lot more than 30 bucks. that wouldnt even be enough to get acces to the game.
This update sounds good, but the first thing that comes to my mind is how much stuff is going to be broken from this big of an update unfortunately. Probably going to wait a month after release for stuff to be fixed / trading to come back after possibly getting taken away since that’s what happened in their small updates when I played lol
The Egyptians were actually in America, yes.
Grand canyon tunnels had Egyptian artifacts and other oddities that were taken to the Smithsonian and later made unavailable to the public for viewing.
Roman's too, along with several "early" civilizations. Copper was a huge trade item
There are no such artifacts. It's a hoax from the arizona gazette in the early 20th century with absolutely zero evidence to back it up. There is no evidence of Egyptian presence in America.
