Can’t wait to try this pattern. I’ve been looking for a good mullet pattern, think I’ve found it. To allow for rounder head I am going to try the tie on stem eyes. Been tying a long time you’re patterns are among the best currently on the web. Fish well, not overly complicated and don’t require a bunch of odd, expensive material. Keep it up, please. Thanks for your creativity.
Thank you. If you want a rounded head the tab eyes will work well. I’ve also seen guys tie in tubing between the two brushes to keep that rounded volume.
Great fly and good instruction. you could set the resolution a bit higher next time. Have you tried a slicker brush to pick out the brush hairs? I do a lot of tying with home made brushes and I find that a slicker brush is a great time saver.
Thanks man. No I just stick to my bodkin and a comb to get trapped hair loose. Shot that on my old Iphone. Not the best at photography but learning and hopefully getting better clearer video
Have you ever tried to tie this as a hollow fly with bucktail instead of the brush? Brush is kind of expensive and I was wondering if bucktail might give the same look. Thanks.
I have been experimenting with a fly like this using hollow tied bucktail. It would still use a brush head and i would also substitute out the crystal flesh for feathers in the back. Same kind of look but with more movement. Alot of the GT guys like this fly but they want it to be bigger than it currently is.
