Enrico is using spécial eyes that have a post on them. So when you apply a generous amount of goo ( not liquid) the goo will bind the fibers and the post will also penetrate the fibers and get glued even better. Probably having longer lasting eyes as well when false casting and fighting fish.
I have admired that fly for years because of its baitfish looks and action. It was an honor to see the creator tying his legend.
