- Gentlemen place your bets now before watching. This my friends is an epic race. It took us forever to find a blaster that was nice enough to do a good comparison but we came across a mint 2000 Yamaha Blaster YFM200 with hardly any time on it at all and when we saw it, we new it was time to answer the question or which one is faster. Our Raptor 250 has beat a lot of other quads in it's class and is an excellent running machine. This blaster is as new as you could possibly find. The launches were about the same so it was all about the umph. Watch and see what happens.
The blaster....one hell of a racing quad for a cheap price.

I love my old Blaster. It has been rock solid for 16 years. It's all bent up and scratched with cracked plastic and "J" shaped clutch and brake handles from rollovers. It even has a bent frame from where I crashed into a trailer, but it is still more fun to ride than my other ATV's and can outrun them on certain trails!
7 years since you posted this comment sir how is it still running? you still own it? i have 1 it runs and rides but has piston slap. engine makes noise

Blaster did me proud. Had a 2001 when I was 13… rode the snot out of that thing. Spent more time on that machine than anything else I owned since. Was happy to see it beat it’s replacement

Bruh I’ve kept up with a 660 on my 250
I appreciate the blaster simply because it can go from the slowest quad to one of the fastest with very little dough. My friend soups up blasters and sells them, let me tell you after he soups them up he will keep up with the 450's, and destroy 400's!
Idk about 450s but my blaster is built from a big bore kit vforce reeds full fmf pipe exetera and it take trx 400exs like nothing especially off the launch

@brandonbeckster ya the blasters are great little machines and they are fast fun and cheap and parts are easy to find
@Tbomb187 We owned the Bombardier 650 as well. Just haven't done the review on it yet. The DS650 is a physically large machine well suited for bigger riders. In addition, it may be the fastest top speed machine we have owned yet. They are definately the largest sport four wheeler we have had and worthy of checking out if you are a bigger guy wanting a sport machine. They are a little unusual with the fenders on the wheels but a very potent machine and their engines are one of the best made.

@BuggyMasters oof. Id take the blaster over the raptor. Yamaha had it well built and its a 2-stroke. easier to maintain and hard to blow up. Nice power, fast acceleration, short swing arm, what more can i add?
same here. sand dragged my raptor 250 with a blaster and toe to toe he stayed a few feet a head of me on several tries.
@75mxracer sounds like a nice bike get the head ported and polshed u wont regreat it trust me it will hit 80
a blaster exelerates faster and has a higher top speed of 63 mph stock while the raptor only goes 60 stock , i have a blaster and my best friend has a raptor they are around the same speed but in my opinion the blaster takes off better and maintains the speed throughout

My blaster rapes the raptor 250 in a drag /w extended swing arm. Having said that The raptor is a far better all around machine and not built as badly as the blaster. I think Yamaha learned from their mistakes with the blaster.
I am 56 years old and have been trail riding and motocrossing since 6th grade. I have a 05 Blaster moded out, and I will say it's one hell of a well built tuff machine! It's still solid after all of my rage in the cage antics. I would put a Blasters quality up against anything! Mine is living proof.
Basically the same until the blaster hits 6th then in barley pulls away.

He got you on top end, Blasters are about 2mph faster stock. Switch to a 37 tooth rear and you will keep up. Switch to a 15 tooth front and you will beat him.

Any blaster will do, no matter the year they are the best. You will enjoy it for years just keep good care of it
My blaster was fully rebuilt last year has full fmf exhaust and new rear tires I smoke raptor 250's and 300ex's easily

Ok here guys , when i had my raptor 250 , i raced my bros mint 03 blaster that was stock, I weighed 100 pounds, he weighed 160. We raced and his blaster beat me by 2 feet. We switched bikes and i beat my bro on the raptor 250 by bike length. Blaster is waay faster in my opinion. also look on the right , raptor 350 vs blaster, and the blaster wins

The blaster should be more ahead it has few mph more top speed and acceleration
idk i got them off ebay new i know it was around 30 bucks but they gave my bike 2x more bottom end great reeds best on the market

raptor is a great quad its light and get if if your 5 feet 9 inchs or smaller 5'9 might even be a little to big but its a great quad and really fast it should of bet the blaster but w.e raptor is a great quad tho

Maybe your buddies blaster was wore out. This one was in excellent shape as was the raptor and both machines completely stock. It is what it is...

Why is it always a fourwheeler vs a motorcycle. How the fuck is that fair. Ps I was In Colorado a while ago and 120 cc bike tried to race my raptor 250 special edition and got beaten by a good 100+ meters so this is a terrible view of how powerful the raptor is. I can get mine from 0-45 mph in about 6 seconds.

the blasters are faster in a straight line but not by much but if u race tuned bikes the raptor will win and twice the bike for racing
its called 2 stroke 200 = 4 stroke 400... so no the blaster is realisticly way faster..

i have nothing against 4 strokes i ride a 400ex and a kx 85 btw.Both 4 strokes and 2 strokes make great bikes,but 2 strokes r a bit faster on the take offs
I dunno I compared a blaster to a warrior and I greatly prefer the warrior 350, it has a lot more power out the gate, was smoother, and felt like it had TON's more torque. when racing the two, there is no competition, the warrior hands down.
i hate people who speak like its straight up all of this quad will beat all of this quad. unless your talking lt80 vs an lt500. then all quads are pretty close depending on upgrades. Its all preference, a blaster 250 could smoke a warrior 350 and vise versa depending on that specific quad you are riding and rider skill/experience...
No, raptor doesn't lost for more feets because the rider of the blaster doesn't know ride a quad.
my friend has a 200 blaster and i have a 250 raptor and i have a fmf powercore 4 and itp holeshots and i can beat him from start to top speed but on dirt there damn near the same machine but the blaster is alot lighter
Wow a 200cc 2 stroke beat a 250cc 4 stroke lol... Now race something more equal in terms of power like a warrior 350 or raptor 350 and see who wins, it won't be the blaster.
wai wai wait a second.... Something more equal in power? Blaster - 17HP. Raptor 250- 17HP. Raptor 350- around 21 HP. Warrior 350- 18HP. Lol... 4 or 2 stroke really doesnt matter unless its a 200cc vs 200cc straight up. everyone knows they dont make anything larger than a 250cc 2 stroke {if you ignore the obvious king on quads the LT500R} then 200cc 2 stroke vs 250cc 4 stroke is even. lol. If you think the 350 Raptor or warrior would beat it then its not an even race... this race although WAS even. the blaster just had the extra gear.
Race a 400ex
Predator 500s aren't that fast, I kept up with a stock one with my blaster. All my blaster has is a toomey pipe with a blockoff plate

The blaster won because it has 20s on the rear tire giving him more top end. While the raptor 250 has 18s giving him less top end.

Read the Dirtwheels test, the Raptor is slower but better overall. Show me where "Yamaha" says it's faster, I'd be interested to see that.
