- Rhode Island seems pretty strong after testing it out today, but I have to say the playstyle that it encourages is very obnoxious. It's a kiting HE spammer that's almost impossible to catch and hard to finish off, while having great HE DPM and dispersion.

Yo, sorry for the lack of vids, got hit with a brutal flu and have been completely out of it the past week. Recovering now and first up we got the Rhode Island on EU, a ship currently in the armory for a ridiculous 50k dubs.

I love how the Austin was right next to the heal buff and just sailed around it even though it was right in front of him. He had to actively avoid getting that buff.

Guys you're being pretty harsh, PQ is a very good player, sometimes you just have ships that don't mesh well with your playstyle. For me a great example is the Regolo, I love gunboat DDs but I can't play that thing to save my life, which is also why I rate it very low. I've said it before and will continue saying it, always watch multiple content creators before going for a ship, personal biases play a strong role in our takes on various ships.
@@therepublic21 I love to flamuu, PQ, robin etc all of them are very good but everyone has comfort and discomfort zone in the game.. There is nothing to be slaty if you dislike someone. Be respectful to them..

Basically its a Thunderer experience if you dont have that UK BB. Its a anti push HE spamming ship.
I heard from a lot of people when this thing was only available in those random bundles that they were getting it very early in the chain, so I ended up buying the first two with some dubs I had laying around and got it on the 3rd. I think it was 6k dubs total I spent, and it was well worth THAT price. I don't know about the current one.... But I've enjoyed playing it ever since. You're right that it's an obnoxious, HE-spamming kiter, but I find it immensely enjoyable to play, personally. Who needs a heavy cruiser when you can have this thing? And let's be real here. This isn't a BB. This is a classic, American JUMBO sized radar cruiser.
The Big Mac cruiser, if you will.

I really hate how bad the powercreep is that if a new tier X battleship doesn't have 18in overmatch it needs all these op gimmicks to compensate. Still won't stop the average BB player from complaining about them being weak like some did with the Wisconsin.
well rhode islands paid a high toll on the armor side to become what it is.
RH paid for it by having Low HP, Weak armor and No overmatch. If it had a bad reload and shitty dispersion too why on earth would anyone buy it or play it?
Meanwhile if a cruiser doesn't get instakilled by overmatch then it's overpowered and needs an overnerf to make it literally unplayable
They complained about Wooster stealth radar, they complained about hiv acceleration, and yet they decide that Lauria is "weak" because it doesn't have Kremlin tankiness with 10km conceal

Hey, Flamu, I noticed that there were several times when you could probably have Devstruck the enemy Napoli, but instead opted for other targets. Could you elaborate on why? I’m guessing it’s just my potato brain that thinks it would have been the best target, so I’d love to learn where I’m wrong.

This and Illinois have to be some of the simplest bbs to play, hold lmb with HE rounds and watch the damage tick

Stop acting like "AnGLinG" is some sort of hyper difficult concept... It is already exploited enough by lazy ass players who angle next to an Island don't move and cry HE spam! because there high skill tactic of angling isn't working.
Rhode Island is truly obnoxious. Fast. Stealthy. Accurate. Maneuverable. High HE DPM and fires per minute. Similar to thunderer but without the punchy overmatch AP.
Do you think this will be locked out of armory because it is too strong?

It's on live server, it's the new mode introduced in the patch on Thursday, Mode Shuffle. It cycles between airship escort, convoy and arms race. A lot of fun!

Now I’m curious if he likes the Bungo line… it’s definitely hit and miss for most people.
The Rhode Island highlights everything wrong with not only WG but BB design in game.

well to be fair Rhode Island is not a BB. It takes a BB slot in MM but its utility, speed and reload would fit any cruiser in the game
@@clmwrx yes, I believe the Rhode Island pro/con ratio is just outta balance. The ship has too many things going for it and gives up near to nothing in order to obtain those strengths. The 25mm nose just isn’t that big of a weakness to justify the overwhelming advantages. It’s a trend that WG has been on for quite some time now.

Rhode Island almost feels French in how she plays - insane high speed, small calibre quad turrets, pitiful armor.
Only that WG gave the French everything and more so they got improved AP pen and a turtleback (plus a boatload of other gimmicks and consumables).
Wargaming keeps adding subs and cv's. Then in a stroke of genius, the add BB's with cruiser dispersion that specialize in HE farming. They clearly do not understand the type of matches they are encouraging. Pushing in and getting burned down as you turn out and run is not fun. It really isn't fun to dish out to be honest.
My take on RI after playing for 50 battles is that it's strong for many of the wrong reasons, while also being frustrating to play and play against.
It's strong because of the gimmicks like radar, insane speed and concealment. It's frustrating because of the overmatchable nose and gigantic super structure, as well as being dependent on fire RNG. It's frustrating to play against because it just spams HE and is hard to catch when kiting...
All in all, I don't particularly like the design.
but it is THE ship to hunt for cruiser captaines making mistakes. its dispersion smacks broadsiding CA & CL in combination with its fairly small guns. (for blocking a BB Slot ofc)
Still, ship like this and illi will get farmed by italian BB.
Imagine being some tanky ships like petropavlovsk or kremlin and enemy BB just said "Nuh uh" and press 1 on the keybord which negating your armor adventage completely

Ok I am thinking of concept of how to nerf CVs. With some logic and kept the way as it was. While also somewhat improve secondary and AA efficiencies.
Ok let’s go with CV first.
CVs will now require 3/4 speed to deploy aircraft. Means they need to gain its own speed in order to launch the aircraft. This making them unable to deploy aircraft in the beginning of the game until they manage to get into the speed requirement. Steam eject aircrafts still require atleast 1/2 speed to deploy. This is basically make more sense hence CVs in WWII needs to keep moving to make sure aircrafts get enough lift. If you failed to gain that speed while deploying aircraft, you have literally 80% chance to make your aircraft fall into the water and you automatically lose that aircraft in your squadrons. If you’re stationary, you can deploy aurcraft but it will be 100% chance your air groups will be completely wipe out because you are irresponsible captain.
Fuel consumption. After you’re on the air. Aircrafts will slowly losing fuel. Similar on how Legends did it. But, there’s some tweaks. You’ll have only 4 minutes duration of flight time. And you need a fuel to go back. If you waste your fuel carelessly, and it ran out while the aircraft is returning, you’ll immediately lose those aircrafts. So making you to do a fuel management. Engine boost now infinitely use, BUT, it will drain fuel faster by 50%. So use it carefully. This makes CVs actually gives a shit about positioning and have to take more risk of getting close to the combat.
New Moduel damage: Elevator critical damage. If you got struck by a broadside AP shells, there’s 20% chance for it to cause Critical Damage in your elevator. This will halt your CV to replenish aircrafts.
While the CV is on fire, you can’t deploy aircrafts. Bonus: if you did not deploy aircrafts, the fire burn time will be deducted by 20%. Consumables are now manually use instead of auto.
Secondaries and AA rework
This is based on Naval Art style. Which they also have upcoming CV update as well.
Secondaries now shoots at the same range as ships that have the same gun. For example, Yamato have 155, she will able to shoot 15km like Mogami. While smaller caliber like 127 from Iowa/Montana will have the same range as Gearing, 11km.
New damage module: Range Finders. If you damage this, your dispersion of your ship will be decreased up to 50%. All of them always on critical damage and it takes 2 minutes to repair. Can be instantly fixed by DCP.
AA:
Ships now have No AA mode, Light AA Mode and All AA Mode.
Light AA are focus on low caliber guns.
All AA means both low and big calibers.
All secondaries and Main Batteries that are designed for dual purpose can do AA role. The penalty of AA range on dual purposes will be based on half of your surface gun range. AA also more accurate on smaller calibers. More aircrafts means less focus fire. Flak damage will be based on your gun caliber and it’s radius.
IJN BBs able to use the main gun on AA mode. They’ll shoot Type 3 shells. It deals low damage but it gives all of the enemy aircrafts at orange bar. Shikishima and Satsuma will do 2K damage per hit with Type 3 Shells. However, main guns AA mode can’t target surface ships while on this mode. Requires 3 seconds to switch. This makes you have to make a decision.
Due to this changes. Flooding is now back to CBT style.
