Great you were able to repair it, but unless switchbot are going to be similarly kind to customers who don't have a RUclips channel, it is as you say a very expensive device that has to be thrown away if it suffers any failures. Hope they do start a spares part service soon.
Yup and this particular vacuum seems a good example of something that is easy to repair. Lots of screws, nothing glued in place! Just need the parts to be easily available to buy.
How did you find out what was broken? It seems that you went from it crashing down the stairs to pulling it apart to replace the motor wheel. Thanks in advance from the US. Oh, also, we have a right to repair law now, they have to sell us the parts.
Perhaps the reason was lost in my poor attempt at an arty and amusing intro designed to incorporate as many Britney track titles as possible... but it refused to go in a straight line, would only turn in one direction indicating that one wheel wasn't turning. I swapped the motors over and it turned in the opposite direction so I diagnosed a failed motor.
@@SpeakToTheGeekTech oh, no I really appreciate humor and I definitely laughed at your opening. Mine has the side brush not spinning, and it looks like it gets stuck in cat fur, and I'm already disappointed in the thing because it can't even mop new linoleum without detecting that the mop is dirty, so I just need to buy the motor for it? Or maybe, I should take it apart and make sure everything is working? In real operating time, it's less than 30 days old, but I've had it for 6 months, so I'm pretty sure it's out of warranty. Thanks for responding so fast, I was just about to throw it off of my balcony! 😂😂
@@Brisleep1 The mop? Are you sure you have the K10+? That just has a wet-wipe that you stick to the bottom and it drags around. It's a totally rubbish mop, but it has no way to tell me that the mop is dirty. Do you perhaps have the S10 with the mop? I wouldn't know about failed side brush not spinning being caused by a failed motor, it could be any number of issues from circuitry, loose cabling or failed motor and you'd need to dive inside to diagnose. As it's only 6 months old I would instead suggest you contact SwitchBot to discuss. Here in the UK there's a statutory guarantee period of 12 months, but that could be up to 6 years depending on the item's value or intended lifespan.
@@SpeakToTheGeekTech it's a K10+, it's what the manual calls it's wet wipes, but it's supposed to be able to tell you when it's dirty, looking at it, the sensors are in the back part, but it wipes with the front part. 🤷🏽♂️ Ok, thanks anyway, I did a quick exam and the side brush won't spin at all, I'm going to take it apart, the whole thing is making a grinding sound, there's more wrong than I can see.
@@Brisleep1 I'll admit I'm not 100% certain about this, but I'm close to 99% certain there's no dirt sensors for the mopping on the K10+. I've just been to look at Britney and those sensors I think you are on about are the drop sensors.
That was definitely my fault it did that! Drop sensors don't like dark flooring and the slow curved lip of the carpet at the top of my stairs means combined with the dark shade they didn't notice the missing floor until the wheel had gone over at just the wrong angle. Firstly I should have been watching it, secondly I should have set a no-go zone where the stairs are to be certain.
As it fell down the steps? i could hear "Oops, I did it again."
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahaa, she's not bloomin' being allowed to do that again, I'm telling ya!

I hope so too
Although I have to make it very clear that the fault was definitely not due to a design defect, it was self inflicted stupidity.
I completely agree! We need repairability

@@SpeakToTheGeekTech yeah I completely agree! More like this 👍🏻
Mine has a problem with the self dust emptying. It said it is emptying but no action at all. Do you know how to fix it too?
No sorry you should contact SwitchBot support

Most importantly the components weren’t serialised to prevent ‘non-authorised’ people repairing it!
"advertises product that literally tried to kill itself" yeah sure i will totally go buy that
