I attended Catholic schools and this song was played a lot at school dances. We used to smirk because it was obvious that the Nuns didn't actually listen to the lyrics (if they had done so there would have been no music at all!).
@@decristo1021 A fellow Catholic school survivor! Our Nuns staged a raid (complete with video camera - huge, heavy camera (1 of the first type of camera) on McDonald's which was across the street from our campus (and was up the street from the all boys school) because of the flirting. Our Nuns wore the full tropical white habit (Hawaii) and they caused such a scene that the students both schools were banned from McDonald's for 2 months. Honestly, it was like a scene from a full scale police raid. They did this, but missed the lyrics from so many songs that were played at dances. They did go around making certain that we were not plastered together during slow dances and that our skirts were not too short (miniskirts were in).

@@randytorres8211 It was the first version I'd ever heard, being only about 7 when it was released, until many years later. I have to agree...it's the best rendition, by far.
@@gloriagaddy Same here, since that 45 was in our house. I didn't know that was all him until this video, though!
Cant stop laughing! 😂 Every time I hear this, my husband gets the stank eye from me!
"In Cars" by: Gary Neumann is another good one hit wonder..... You would also like "Amadeus" by: Falco....and, "Der Komissar" by: After the Fire. But, I'd love to see you react to the only one hit wonder in America, that is sung in German...."99 Luftballons" by: Nena. You'll love all of these!!!
Sorry but gary numan* is not a one hit wonder. Metal, down in the park, we are glass. Intruder (2021)
The original German version is best, though it was cool that the 45 has the English version on the flipside.
(Edit: Jamel has done Rock Me Amadeus)
Ive been suggesting these songs too. Everyone will have a blast!
Also Der Komissar was originally done by Falco, but the After the Fire cover is better
No thats not true , He had a big hit in early 1979 Called friends Electric ,, And Cars came out in 1979 In the UK WAS NUMBER 1 IN 1979 ,,
Je t'adore Jamel! You make me fall in love with these beautiful songs all over again. I love your simplicity, kindness and everything in between. Take care!
Lunatic Fringe -Red Ryder. From the VisionQuest soundtrack. Still completely rocks, and one of my favorite one hit wonders.
Such a great song!!!!
Tom Cochrane certainly wasn’t a one-hit wonder here in Canada. I could recommend a few songs from him.
@@dmelvinable The group, Red Ryder though, that Cochrane was a part of momentarily, was though.
Love it laughing and singing at the same time with your comments
I attended Catholic schools and this song was played a lot at school dances. We used to smirk because it was obvious that the Nuns didn't actually listen to the lyrics (if they had done so there would have been no music at all!).
Me too!!! I was in junior high during the hair metal boom and man did we get an earful!
You are so funny ! I love your reacts!
Another good one hit wonder...Steal Away by Robbie Dupree....might even have some Michael McDonald backing vocals 👍🏻😁
Fantastic song...sticks in your head.
Robbie Dupree also had “Hot Rod Hearts” hit, but, of course, not as big as “Steal Away”.
I'll be singing that all night now...love it!
I'm howling at your reactions to this song. And ditto to everything you said. I'm still jamming and wanted to dot Robert John's eye! 🤣🤣🤣
Gotta hit that number 1 creeper song: Barry Mardrones- Into the night.
Benny Mardonas
@@deannacavoly6349 actually it’s Benny Mardones
Hi Tim, she corrected you incorrectly Lol! Yes, that is a creepy song but it’s a great voice 👍🏻

@@missgmoma I know. Lol
Such a great great song! It's been givin' me the feels my whole life. Impossible not to sing song with.
Anyone know who was doing that vocal near the end?
Totally agree with Jamal. It almost like he was blaming her for being the side piece when he was just being a dog.
No one was blaming anyone. She knew he had someone else and they had to break up.
Love this song because it brings back memories from when I was about 10 so I didn't understand it then but I do now (after about 40 years!). Love your values!
Check out Billy Squier’s songs he made some good ones like “In the dark”
Add “The Stroke”, “Lonely is the Night” and “Everybody wants You” to Squier’s greatest hits list!
Was Billy squier gay
@@bradthurber6987 I don't think so.
I love this song. Haven’t heard it in a while but it immediately takes me back to when I use to listen to it.
Yeah - I've always had a love/hate relationship with this song - along with Me and Mrs. Jones and Let's Just Kiss and Say Goodbye.
❤️Fu*kin.LOVE THIS SONG....DEEP CHILLS..HAD THIS ON 45🎶🎶🎸❤️☺️
I used to love this song..now I’m like, that damn Robert John..he was a scoundrel. Lol.
He's still with us, he's 75 and had another song called lonely eyes from the same year sad eyes came out. I remember hearing that song on the radio when I was 5 or 6 years old.
