This is great! Wonderful how to video on footpeg install! Much better than the stock high peg mounts. I am tall and lowered pegs really help ergonomically when riding. Thank You!!
WILLIAM - Thanks brother for sure. Haven't ridden yet, but I feel much more comfortable just sitting on the bike. After I adjust the brake pedal, I hope to take a test ride today - Although I won't have time to get out to the desert. Too much to do today... Cheers !
Love this video Brother! Great info on the installation of these brackets! You will enjoy the ergonomics of the lowered pegs. Makes a huge difference when standing and actually when sitting on long rides. Loved the new intro and the incense burner with Yoda! Great job and this will help a few folks for sure! Cheers!
Thanks DOC - The freakin intro took as long as the main part LOL - Thout it was time to throw something new together - although just old footage you've seen before LOL - We'll chat later brother !!!
Thanks Ulli !!! - I've had the DR for over 6 years, and they never bothered me, until THE MIGHTY VERBAL WIDGET & I went out to the Old China Dam a couple of weeks ago... We were on the pegs for hours in rough stuff....
For your safety, consider inspecting those Xitomer mounts very carefully after the first few rides. If you can, make sure they are clean when you look at them and use a magnifying glass looking for any evidence of cracking. They look robust; however, I’m not so sure on the quality of the metal. I had a Xitomer mounting bracket for a GPS on my VStrom that snapped. Upon looking at the break, I discovered the bracket was made of cheap pot metal. I lowered my foot pegs by an inch on the VStrom and it made a huge difference. Best mod on the bike for comfort.
Tim! You have a really great point on inspecting the mounts. They are pretty heavy duty but it is always a great idea to check them out after a few rides (like other items also). They do make a huge difference in comfort and control on bikes. Cheers!
V - Thanks for that advice - I'll sure do that. Haven't ridden yet, but hope to today after I adjust the brake pedal. Just sitting on the bike feels much more comfortable !!!
RICK !!! - Thanks man - Needless to say, I've had the stock pegs for like 6 years, but at 6' - I can tell you just sitting on the bike - it feels much more comfortable !!! I can't wait to get out to the desert and get on the pegs in the shitty stuff !!! Cheers !!!

Thanks ROB !!! Hard to get in close, and work on the freakin bike with one hand LOL - Looking forward to testing them. Haven't ridden yet but will today !!! Cheers brother - continue on the mend !!!
AZ - Thanks man - I haven't gotten to really test them yet, as adjusting the rear brake took quite a bit of trial and error to get it dialed in !!! And, ALL single cylinder big bore thumpers love lock tight !!!!! Cheers !
Haven't ridden yet - but will today. Just sitting on the bike - that 2" lower makes a huge difference - Much more comfortable. I think I'll mainly notice while in the desert - on the pegs - in the rough stuff. Should be much easier on the legs - And like DOC said - Lower center of balance AND more control of the bike... Will test soon... Cheers !
Them cheaper brackets were not available when I lowered my pegs so I cut and welded the oem . I used the $25 Amazon wide pegs and they are good. I had to shorten the master cylinder shaft to get the pedal height I wanted. Rush and incense rock on dude.
RIDER RIDE - I've seen a lot of people lower them like you did. Works fine !!! - I haven't adjusted my brake pedal yet - but that's gonna happen in just a little bit. I'll keep what you said in mind. Thank you - CHEERS !!!
Yup! Spot On Rider! OBI and I were texting about the master cylinder fix a couple of hours ago. Made a huge difference getting the rear brake light properly activated. Great comment!!
Great timing on this video! I just picked up some lowering mounts from JNS Engineering and trying to find time to install them. Hoping they’ll reduce some of the knee pain I get on longer pavement rides.
ANDREW !!! - Awesome - DOC 650 Just did a video on them as well - so check that out too !!! I'll be doing a follow up video so watch that to for some additional things to look for. Adjusting the rear brake and getting that dialed in takes time !!! Cheers
Cool, I wondered about those kits. I'd like to get the wider pegs too! Glad you like the t handle brother. You'll find you can torque stuff to 440 foot pounds pretty easily. lol
@@scoobdoo6477 Definitely different - getting used to it. It's taken quite a while to adjust the brake pedal. I've got it as low as it can go - still lock up the rear tire AND not hit the top of the mount - thus NOT allowing the rear brake to fully engage.... If that makes sense 🙂
Just be aware that when you lower the pegs on the DR there is a much greater risk of breaking your foot when doing serious single track type riding. The stock pegs are already on the low side for off road riding.
This is a real problem in the Pacific Northwest. Very common injury for single track riding with all the rocks stumps and roots especially riding alongside the hills where the high side can bite you
Jarrod - Thanks for the heads up on that and will definitely keep that in mind. If you've seen some of my desert riding, for the most part, that should be too much of a problem - But I'll be keeping that in mind. Thank you.
Lowering them made the bike a far better fit for standing in my experience. Hope ya had a great year Obi. Mine was rather tame. Greeting DOC. Hope your all good too. Once Brandon drops the vaccine mandates, beware, I’m coming over. 🤙

Nice Video OBI-WAN, getting the bike comfortable for you is very important. I will be interested to see a ride review on them. Xitomer is making nice affordable aftermarket DR parts, like DOC650 kickstand pad, tail tidy and these lowering mounts. Good quality instructions and video. I add loctite to each oil change to help hold the old girl together 🤣😂
@@nelsdude The JNS are barely a little higher and protrude out more. They also are designed to allow for more downward travel of the rear brake pedal. The JNS are a better design but about twice the price. So far I am satisfied with the Xitomer kit. Cheers Buddy!
As someone who mostly rides my DR650 on dirt, I never understood the fascination of lowering the foot pegs. I already hit the pegs on the trails. At 6'1" the ergo's are fine for me, I did change the seat and bars. Good video though Obi, always nice to see how to's on the DR.

@@pilotdane1 The bigger pegs will help too. I believe that I got the least expensive ones from pro cycle. But I’m fairly hefty so I didn’t want to go with a possible low quality one from china. I’m saving up for the braided brake lines next. The brakes perform adequately but feel squishy. It’s a process.
