The Rise and Fall of G-Unit

- G-Unit was the most popular group in the early 2000's. The group was founded by 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, and Lloyd Banks. Young Buck and The Game later joined the group, but the latter went on to leaving the group scandalously. However, did 50 Cent have conflicts with his childhood friends? And what were the reasons? Let's get into it, because all of these conflicts led to the fact that 50 Cent wants to forget about G-Unit.

Who is your favorite artist from G-Unit?
Lloyd banks, 50, yayo, and game if he wasn't such a bitch.
Lloyd Banks
Banks 🏦
50. I would say The Game but dude basically never made a full album with them.
Tony yayo! Used to doubt him back in the day but loyalty over everything!!! Buck used to be my favorite tho!
Basically what happened with G-Unit was that 50 cents was learning the Business and urging his label/ group mates to become financially literate on the business, they didn't!. Leaving 50 continuously picking up the slack for them, whilst becoming more authoritative to protect and sustain their revenue.
Where they came from they couldn't handle nor understand why 50 became soo authoritative, they saw it as disrespect. They felt like 50 was leader and they were his tails. When in actuality he was trying to push them towards financial longevity.
That's All!!!! So Sad, all they had to do was shift their mind set and perspectives.
Exactly and with all the money 50 made them, you would think they be a little thankful and try to cooperate instead of being lazy.
Lloyd Bank's Start It Up is the last super hit of the old rap era, underrated hit.
50 cent's i'm the man was big too
imagine 50 kept all the songs he gave to Game and put it on the Massacre... that would have been up there with the best 2 albums anyone has ever made back to back.
Man, I understand Get Rich is the magnum opus, but the massacre is my favorite.
Iv said this 100 times ,The Game is an ungrateful snake
Yea, like yay said, why the fuck you given them those tracks
How many songs was it
@@yunggcappa7797four, higher, Hate it or love it, westside story, how we do
That Lloyd banks “smile” beat will forever slap.. the song itself still gets played in my ride til this day!
It gives that nostalgic feel!
Facts
Saaaame bra 👊🏾
That beat is sick. When I think of banks I think of that smile beat
Agreed!
If you want enemies, make friends. Happens every time.
even u don't, u still get them too
it's a crazy world we live in
G-unit will never be forgotten. Those mixtapes and albums are forever legendary!!
Still bumping to their mixtapes loud in the BX🤙🏼🔥💯
I'll never forget the G-Unit era..it was a paradigm shift in the rap game..we aint never seen buzz as huge as 50's was since the days of BIG/BadBoys in the 90s
and their music was garbage and didn't have any of the substance that death row and bad boy had, thank goodness game exposed 5-0 aka 50 and his crappy crew, he never wanted to be with that crap in the first place.
50 was the only talent and I'd say 50 only had like 2 good albums. Game did have talent but he was an idiot as a person, disrespected Dre and ripped off hundreds of fans, etc.
@@Kintoshi892 game was the only one with talent, the rest of them have zero talent, they are the limo bizkit of gangsta rap.
@@jmjfanss i agree he had talent but he couldn't write hooks / choruses. Plus he back stabs everyone he works with including the hands that fed him. He was two faced and disrespectful to everyone around him. He charged his fans money to get their music promoted, he would take their money and block them.
Lyrically though, game was a beast. Especially if he could just rip bars without a chorus. But as a person he was a PoS
@Afi James game has talent. But he was nothing compared to 50. At least when it came to success. Think about it, 50 bought it g-unot. That's embarrassing.
I still consider G-Unit as one of my favorite rap groups, they were the last group I really followed, once they ended I kind of stopped listening to new rap that came out. Probably an age thing. 50 owned the mixtape scene during that time. Long live G-Unit!
same here
G-Unit build to last...
G unit was always a little lame. Samey repetitious beats and hooks. Music got better since then.
@@hardnewstakenharder who was your favorite during that time?
Stomp went super hard... that Cassville album is underrated af imo
Yayo was always Fifs rappin hype man & never wanted a career in rap & banks went thru personal things (family deaths) that made rap the last thing on his mind for years. 50s work ethic had no time to wait so he kept things movin without them. These 3 ARE g-unit, all the others were just temp/3rd party members
Talk to these dummies 😂😂💯💯💯
FULLY AGREE. which is y i believe they'll eventually make up the og 3 will eventually come bk 2gether.
Buck is G-Unit just as much as Yayo & Banks are. I can understand you saying that about the other additional G-Unit members, but Buck was there when they all became popular household names. You can’t disregard Buck. He’s just as important to the legacy of the group.
@@JohnnyBlaze_616 right i love buck, but the og g unit are fif banks and yayo. if buck had jus chill and took care of his finances and stop messing with ppl fif wasn't cool with, he'd b fine. u cant serve 2 masters, ur either roking with 1 or the other.
Yayo started rapping before fifty, he was the one that influenced fifty to start rapping back when they were still street dudes.
G unit will never die. At least not on my playlist
The whole Beg for mercy album is downloaded on my playlist. I ain’t forgetting that either.
Shitt 🗑️🗑️🗑️
Popping them thangs always made me feel rich. That 50 Cent era was different
Now, Tony Yayo cannot do any interviews without saying big up 50😂😂😂
As he should .. 50 cent got him out the hood and made him a millionaire while he was in jail
I recall back in 2005 when watching the music video for the 1st time “How We Do”, me & my late cousin (RIP Phil) said this is a great epic track but that new guy The game looks like the kind of person that will turn against you. And holy fuck, he was right. No shit 😝
Same feeling, i was like who the hell is the new guy all grumpy in the video, i respect that Game never asked to be in the Unit and didn't want to stay in 50s shadow but at the same time 50 launched his career
I remember my first thought watching How We Do was, "why this dude trying to hard to look tough?"
The game is a clown🤡
@@ILLeeT36 Then he shouldn't have put on that G-Unit chain.
50 cent wanted game to diss fat joe jadakiss and nas he wanted to be a g unit solider and game was like naw
Its almost sad that youth today most likely will never have a "Beg for Mercy" style album. A complete soundtrack of their youth. Each track hittin harder an harder. And Zero Skips
I still listen to that shit all the time
@@keithm11112 Same!
That's such good album
We be POPPIN THEM THANGSS!!!
Beg for Mercy was ok. Those soft ass love songs had to go. What did they think they were 112 or Jagged Edge? 🤣🤣
In college I had all the g-unit clothing and shoes. Got fussed at by my debate team coach (Dr. Freeman, who the movie 'The Great Debaters', was based on), because I came in his office in a gunit muscle shirt which when he considered an undergarment, and had all the mixtapes and early albums. I was such a fan, that my aunt suggested 50 help pay some of my debt after graduation because that's where a lot of my refund checks went to 😂
Me too I had 3 pair of gunit shoes and a gunit hoodie and like 8 gunit shirts I was in high school 9th grade
He should have cut you the check ✅
YOU CULTURE VULTURE…
You're definitely white 😂😂
I had the G-Unit shoes with the Raiders logo on them. I miss em everyday
The G-Unit Wave was some Cheese 🔥🔥🔥. 🎤
😎
50 is clearly a VERY difficult dude to stay friends with. He seems incredibly selfish, but also self aware. He is the star and he knows that.
he can go to hell for all i care.
You might be right but tbh he wasn’t asking a lot from his friends but he helped them out and they basically openly insulted him
The Game was signed to aftermath around the time get rich or die trying came out. He is in the in da club video and the videos for beg for mercy
A lot of background work he was doing lol
50 seemed to see the vision, but others In g unit couldn't.
He was gonna create such a huge revenue stream for everyone.
Beg For Mercy a lowkey classic, almost like an extended version of GRODT
Shoulda kept G-Unit 100% Queens members
Looking back one sees how good G-Unit was in their days, the music was really awesome.
Imagine where all the G-Unit members would be if they simply followed 50’s leadership. He was always wanting nothing but success for his team who helped him win. It’s all about winning. But you can’t expect to win when you don’t practice and participate.
I love how 50 can create a narrative and y’all just go with it. He records Young Buck at his lowest and release the audio of a grown man calling, crying while asking for money. In his own book he mentions how he said some foul stuff to Lloyd Banks after he was dealing with a loss in his family. I don’t think the fall of G-Unit is ALL on 50, but I think it’s ridiculous to act like he didn’t have a part in it.
I'm sure they didn't put their all into all the time but yall just believe the one man story and due to his success you just tske his word for it. Look at Jay z. One if the biggest biggest shares mfs since he came out and he is basic. Never been the best rapper or the most consistent yet they give him title of the goat. They buy do that cuz of Eminem. Jay z is just a good rapper. No more. No less
@@kungfufemafam9216 if you think Jay-z is a “good” rapper, I can’t respect your opinion. If you listen to Reasonable doubt, the Blueprint, Hard knock life and think he’s just a good rapper? We can’t have a conversation.
@@TrueAnakinSkywalker dude. He is a great rapper. Okay sure. But all of his work.. he has NEVER BEEN THE BEST EVER. NEVER BEEN THE HOTTEST EVER. only consistent. That's the facts. He isn't garbage. But he isn't a fn wordsmith genius. They call him the goat but he has never been the best any given YEAR. EVER. LIL WAYNE IS BETTER THAN Jay z and I liked Jay long before wayne..Jay z just been around forever. It's like anyone past the year 2000 saying Tupac or biggie are the goats... they should be slapped
You listed 3 old ass albums that still weren't tier 1 skill
no one ever talks about 50s ego. it’s insane
That's cause he's earned the right to be egotistical. If all those guys did what 50 told them and played their role instead of trying to be the big dog, then they'd all still be relevant today. Instead, they turned into nobodies while 50 is still on top.
I'm not even that big of a fan of 50, either. This is all just common sense. I'm sorry I can't emphasize for people who had a man as powerful as 50 in their corner, personally trying to help them get on top, and then, for one reason or another, just not put the work in to get there. I don't feel bad at all for guys like that cause if that was me, I'd be doing whatever it took to secure my success!
he definitely has a HUGE ego but i think people overlook it because of how much everyone likes him..
@@jamesteegardner2273 Not everyone wants to rule the world like 50... 50 thinks the world is lazy.
The only member that seems to be doing bad, is Buck.... Banks is doing his own thing and seems content, and Yayo will ride 50's meat to the grave...
What ego ? If you accomplished that much success, then what you say is actually just the truth lol.
Was it Ego to put Eminem feature on Lloyd banks album ? Or to give songs like How we do and Hate it or love it to Game ?
Even if they were not as ambitious, It's ego that led the member to end where they did thinking they could do better than the litteral blueprint in front of them.
When someone has actual accomplishements, following his advice isnt a bad idea...
@@kazihiseguy-fernand4637 Got a license to ride that meat?
Im dying of laughter. “Now I’m being compared to milk”. 50s trolling these dudes on the radio show sent me 😂😂😂😂
They offered him to work on their songs? No. Fif financed the entire thing. They were his soldiers. Even back then, he was the man on the block, Rollin in a Benz, gold chain, and helping his brothers put bread on the table.
Yayo says gunit is banks yayo and 50 because they grew up together but buck cemented as an og. He was a massive part of the g unit roll out and beg for mercy
Young Bucks buck the world album was one of the most underrated classics.
The world needs the unit iam 41 and still banging out the unit so get the another album agan ..don't let the fans down
50 was the front liner and founder, Yayo was the hype person and crowd drawer, Banks was the true spitter, Buck was the Spender, And Game the one that could fit on almost any beat for rapping effortlessly.
Except Game can’t rap . He still Raps like he’s new and just learning. 50 taught game everything he knows and that Nigga still sucks
At the end of the day 50 cent made all of them millionaires Sha money xl included and gave them all the opportunity of a lifetime. Talking about biting the hand that feeds you. They should all be forever grateful to 50
Nice edit bro
It's funny how Kidd Kidd doesn't even get a mention as a G-Unit artist! The disrespect! 🤦🏾♂️😂
I don’t care how 50 feels about G Unit but as a hardcore female fan of 50 since How To Rob..I was alll in with G Unit and drove people nuts lol
I bought the t shirts, had the sneakers got all their solo albums and group albums…I really love them all. My bf at the time was down with G Unit too and he got tickets for their concert in Brooklyn…mad hyped!
I feel like Game’s ego and his mouth messed him up. All he had to do was chill for a bit then branch out on his own then build up his crew. I think it was a big lost to his momentum. I will still love his debut album…it’s all fire!
I think 50 just wanted everyone to fly on their own and there is only so much he could do…so I get him saying f it but to say he regrets it…I don’t..as a fan it was a fun time for me and I will always enjoy their music.
Felt 50 when he said I birth yall and y’all didn’t bare me any children…
So Sad How 50 discredit Banks
Banks was always the best one in the group.
Banks told me "go ahead change your style up, and if they hate then let them hate and watch the money pile up."
This was well put together!
I’m glad you uploaded again 🎉
❤️
The “founding fathers” of G-Unit are 50 Cent and Bang Em Smurf. Get yo facts
If the ego didnt came in the way and the group was more united. Probably G-unit would have been more successfull and remembert, unfortunaly the music industry is not about art or talent anymore. People care only about the money and in some cases they are killed for jealousy. Still G-unit from 2002 to 2006 were the best those mixtapes are pure fire.
From all the stories 50 tell I don’t think it was ego it was lack of work ethic lack of vision it became babysitting
Was it ever? Its about selling clothes and making popular music. Hip hop/rnb/rap was never artsy. You have some wrong memories from youth or watching old rap interviews.
G-Unit had success because of 50 Cent.
50 Cent did not have success because of G-Unit.
It's not one man's ego. One man's ego would never have put them on when he didn't need to. The members of G-Unit are not entitled to 50 Cent's success.
50 is just a bitter, bitter man. He got pissed at Banks for taking a photo with Game, he still rides the Ja Rule beef on his gram like it's 2000-2005. He gettin TV money why don't he just move on and grow up.
Game was never truly G-Unit and G-Unit is very remembered and people still listen to it ,it6 20 years later and here you are and everyone on this post talking about them and all their music.

So no mention of Kid Kid? No mention of the mixtapes that G-Unit made after all the beefs? Seems a bit inaccurate….

Not inaccurate at all kid kid came wayyyy after shit he even came after m.o.p the only real honorary member is buck that's it

Big difference dude. KIDD KIDD was just another mooch in the lineup who was handed a couple placements.. Thats it🤷♂️
Kidd kidd hahah lmaooo😂😂😂 I still dont know why 50 signed his lame azz
No one cares
These guys should have not taken things too personal. If you're connected to 50 you should learn to have a tough skin. Because he will push that button. Your ego will be hurt. But everyone is grown and no one wants to hear someone talking them down so yea that wouldn't last.
So many good songs 😢

I honestly think buck replacing yayo was the best thing for the first gunit album

"G-Unit nigga that's what's up" To me the most legendary hip-hop group, still bump that shit on the regular. 50 ego and work ethic made things complicated in the end, but Yayo and Banks never tried to keep up. Wished at least one more album from the crew but it ain't gonna happen.
After 25 years, I finally see the face of Tony Yayo, I only remember the Free Tony Yayo shirts they (and fans lol) wore.
Moral of the story! DONT PLAY WITH 50 LOYALTY!
Man, when those songs off Beg for mercy played I was transported back to highschool.
Young buck did not replace Yayo. He was put into position to expand G-Unit's southern market. It was just a coincidence that Yayo was getting locked at the same time.
Get rich or die trying and the massacre were bad ass albums I still jam them to this day
50 always has turmoil with someone he was once cool with.
Not Dre or Em.
*50Cent is da goat 😈*
Don't regret! It was another era with some cool songs!
G-Unit was HUGE
50 had the bluprint for all of them to be exactly where he is and all of them including yayo didnt want to put the work in. 50 said it he planned for yayo to be the next 50cent but yayo was getting locked up and didnt want to work that hard . 50 still good with yayo but he was definitely disappointed in them not getting as big as they could have even tho they were huge.
None of them were going to end up as big as 50 got
And 50 is overrated. Great businessman, but as a rapper he’s decent at best.

G Unit greatest group of east coast features with 50 cent Lloyd Banks young buck and tony yayo
I was 9 years old in 2003 when 50 cent came out guns blazing. Everywhere i went i heard 50 cent music in belguim.
If 50 never did G Unit
I bet he would simply focused on his own thing. Probably would’ve actually been good for him
Plus 50 is a very sensitive person and he holds loyalty very high
Gotta say, comparing how G-Unit turned out, despite 50's ongoing success, it gives the whole G-Unit vs D Block battles from back in the day a new perspective. It takes away a lot of meaning and conviction from everything Banks and Buck said about Styles, Jada n them, considering L.O.X is still tight to this day and always kept it real with each other
and made better music.
The only thing I don't like about 50 is how he treats Yayo bc Yayo has been loyal to 50 & G-Unit from day one no matter how much 50 puts him down....Much respect to Yayo.
My childhood. So many shirts, sneakers & headbands bought lol. G-Unit is legendary. Banks is the King of the Unit! PLK
They fumbled really really hard the bag instead of just following the formula that was laid before them. The Game may have sowed the seed of distrust that may have put 50 on his guards with the rest

Buck and game it's really unfortunate how wack they behave, because they can both really rap.
And banks can really, really rap. But idk. I think he's just too reclusive
50 acts even dumber hence the situation with his own flesh n blood
Banks just didn't want to deal with the industry.
The Reebok G-Unit shoes got me into Sneaker Collecting
Crazy how I watched this to the end
Don't forget about them 50. Part of that drive you get came from that. It manifested you into a place with no ceilings. Fuel without ever stopping to a gas station. All you did was trim the fat, that little bit of wiggle room you had turned into space. Loyalty is a lesson in truth. The real loyalist are the ones that can tell you why they are doing it
that says something when Curtis Jackson wants to forget his own groups existence
I feel like it was all a bad misunderstanding, 50 thought his team was slacking and wasn't interested in the band anymore but Loyd and Buck just wanted to pace with 50 at that time, 50 back then was at the top and they were fading.
Favorite group of all time
I don't want a reunion. The time is over and I'm not sure if they would make good music. Lloyd Banks and his COTI albums are not to sleep on, he's on fire.
I want to know where they would be today if all these fights didn't happen. Its sad to see how everything happened which was destined to happen. A huge group, great skills and potential, but ego's took it down.
It would be the most interesting to see where The Game would be today. He was such a great addition to the group, but it went down quickly. The Game made many albums that aren't that good and I think G-Unit would have boosted his career in a good way.
the downfall of G-Unit was
1. Game getting kicked out
2. Too many beefs like Jadakiss and Fat Joe
3. Signing too many artists like M.O.P, Hot Rod, & Mase that didn't turn into anything
4. 50 singing and trying to be Ja Rule, signing on every song and duets with Olivia aka his version of Ashanti
5. 50 losing to Kanye
