Very helpful. Doing mine at the moment. In the floor pan restoration when you put in relief cuts..aviation tip..drill a small hole first at the end of the proposed cuts...the cut then cannot extend...David
One of the best videos out there on refurbishing Z seats. Great detail and advice. Also the heated seat component was a great touch. I never thought to include this in my restoration, but now I think I'm going to look further into it. Great job!!
I liked watching you do that so much that I went out and bought a Z with crappy seats so that I could watch you again and recover my seats. Lol, jk! I already had a 280Z, new foam and new leather seat covers. This is definitely the best, most detailed tutorial. I appreciate you taking the time to go through all the minor aspects. I’ll report back in a few weeks!
Seats are done and look great! I should have known it would take me longer than 27 minutes to do each seat! I have a general rule when it comes to projects: estimate the time and multiply by 8. It took me 2 1/2 hours just to do the bottom portion of one seat! Thanks again!
I think it makes the job a little easier if you use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm up the covers before pulling them over and when your are doing the finale tugging into place etc..
Great tutorial, thanks! My first Z was a 260.. just got a 240 and while the seats were recently done by the seller, I plan on recovering them in the stock blue at some point. Your detailed restoration will be a great reference. Cheers!
I only use permatex spray adhesive. I have had the 3m fail on a few projects. Permatex in orange can. I do all kinds of upholstery and I will be doing my 74 260 interior soon.
Very Cool... You can do the Zip tie trick to pull the front toward the back flap on the Seat backs. once they're hooked you can leave the ties or cut them. you did a great job! now I have to go back and watch the other videos you have up.
@@WrenchChill after they were done I set them up like chairs on the floor in front of the stove. I thought about leaving them there. Made nice furniture.
First of all thank you so much for this gold standard tutorial video! I’m following it now for my series 1 240Z seats. Quick q: did you use any wire in the bottom circumference of the seat back covers? My original covers had 2 separate coat hanger wires along each edge. I’m not sure if I need to add that to the new ones.
Thanks for the links! My 240 red seats are all cloth on the top/front and I have no clue what planet they came from as I have never seen this option from Datsun or aftermarket.
Great diy seat repair video! The next time I need to recover a seat, I will try it myself. My datsun seat is at the upholstery shop, $650.00 for this same repair on a 620 bench.
Wait just a minute! You mean to tell me you do not need to wear a thong to get views???? Thanks for proving that there are ladies out there who have some substance and do not need a thumbnail of them arching their back in a thong to get views. Keep up the good work.
Eyy didn't know you have a datsun #coolfactor ✔️ ......came to check out those Omni pro welds 😏.... And you!! Sheeesh😍😅😏✔️ (hottest chick welder on the scene !!! Hands down 😂).....I ordered a titanium to keep me calm for Now
Ok so what do think about the comfort of the new foam and covers. Do you think the money spent was worth it or would aftermarket seats been a better choice.
@@WrenchChill I do like the factory look for sure. I’ve only sat on a squeeshy old seats on all my z cars so I was interested in how the new foams felt. I may upgrade to a full leather cover but I’m not sure on that. Right now I have to find a five speed and I do need springs and strut cartridges . Keep the videos coming I’m learning alot. Thanks
Wow sum feedback buddy. Would it be more your preference to watch a guy do the seats instead? The gal did real great on the upholstery and she even admitted it herself that she doesn't normally do car upholstery so give it a break. Sheesh can't please everybody 😏.
@@WrenchChill well i can say im definitely pleased, your videos are thorough and insightful and just having your dog Lena there is just a bonus as i love dogs. Kudos to her n her puppies 💓💓💓💓. Keep up the good work.
I did leather door panels for my Z which was awesome from those same people they are made in Pakistan but the leather and workmanship was on point.
Oh awesome! Where did you find yours? I may need to replace mine in the future.
I have a 70 240z and the algorithm brought you into my life….you inspire me to go wrench on mine!
Just the tutorial I needed right now. I'm also working on a 260z that was imported from California to Sweden.
Keep up the good work.
Wow, what a haul for that 260Z!! Hope all goes well on your car, and hope this tutorial may help. Thank you! 🙂
Wow Tobias you must love z cars to bring one from the US TO SWEDEN.
Best of luck to you. Show us some photos of your build.
Best regards to you 👍

That's so awesome!! Way to go! 👏 You're going to love having those "new" seats, and feel even more proud because you did them!

Great video- I’ll be tackling this for my 240z in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for documenting and sharing your techniques! 👍🏻
Awesome!! Hope everything goes well :)

Thanks for mentioning Classic ZCar Forum.
Of course! Those forums have come in handy often on this car! 🙂🙌
Loveeeeee the datsun 260z gr88 work keeeeeeeep it up
Thank you very much! 😊
Really nice job Autumn. Great edit too 👍👍👍
Thanks, Jess! 😊
awesome tutorial !!
Hope it was helpful! 🙂
I also recovered the seats in my 240Z in the cold. I had to bring them inside by the woodstove to get the material flexible enough to fit well.
Yikes, it's definitely more of a challenge doing it in the cold!! I had my shop torpedo heater working overtime 😂🥶
@@WrenchChill after they were done I set them up like chairs on the floor in front of the stove. I thought about leaving them there. Made nice furniture.
Beautiful work
Thank you! 🙂 This project definitely intimidated me a bit, but glad it turned out okay!
Me gustan tus videos 😉
Great job and video 👍👍🇨🇱
Thank you!! 🙂🙏
Love seeing your build. Great job and keep it up!
It's been such a fun one!
Thank you 🙂
awesome job!

I think it was money well spent! I love them! Aftermarkets are nice too, but I prefer keeping some of the factory look 🙂

I went synthetic because Lena claws would ruin the expensive leather really fast! 😂 Glad you're enjoying the videos and good luck on your build!
This vid could have been condensed to 20min if they didn’t fool around and had a girl working on the seat.
