USCGC SHERMAN (WHEC-720) Assisting M/V Modern Drive off Cape Town South Africa 2001 With M/V Tracer

Coast Guard Cutter Sherman (WHEC-720) assisting the M/V Modern Drive after she had a fire on board and lost power off the coast of Cape Town South Africa in 2001. Also assisting was the M/V Tracer. At the end of the video you can see some of the vehicles that were burned in the fire.
USCGC Sherman was returning from a deployment in the Persian Gulf and as she was coming around South Africa was diverted to assist M/V Modern Drive who had sent out a distress call.

I'm not sure. We ended up going around Africa, up to Cape Verde, across to the Panama Canal, then up to Alameda California which was our homeport.
