Gotta say, the Subeam explosion in the intro is vasted improved compared to the original. Well done. Only gripe I have with it is at 0:28, where it seems the Gargantuan Leviathan falls back into the ocean faster than it should, unless that was intentional.
@@KarlismiSN Slowing the Gargantuan's descent would really put some "umph" into showing just how massive it is, as well as giving the player time to comprehend what they are watching. Slow burn and all. Also, since I have your notice, I have a question. Do the Gargantuan and the Orbital Gun (forget its exact name) have some sort of relationship? Like the Gun shoots down ships and Big G uses that as a food source? Idk was just thinking of that.
Im not sure, that'd be an interesting dynamic but i doubt ships come so often for that to be a thing that happens. I am interested on where theyll go with the story though
What started as a rough draft and a low textured new creature that was buggy and very unfinished, now is part of upcoming, basically free DLC to my favorite game of all time. Here’s to hoping The ancients return lives up to the hype.
It's wild to me that a bunch of "Subnautica fans" are calling this and the red plague mod "cringe" and "mid" because maybe two or three RUclipsrs actually review them. Like how is it cringe when you're basically getting free dlc with really well made creatures based off in game content!?
@@NiftyACIt’s basically been done for 3 years at this point. No one cares about the story, we just want the creature. But as usual, only popular RUclipsrs are allowed to have it.
I'm sure the devs only animated the Garg jumping 2km into the air to eat two spaceships just for the coolness factor alone. But I am genuinely curious what kind prey the Garg was hunting. Assuming the Garg does not have a nuclear reactor inside its body (which it probably does after eating the Sunbeam), it would need a tremendous amount of energy stored up to make that leap. So whatever it was hoping to catch must've been worth the effort. Does this planet have giant birds, then? Or is the Garg just naturally evolved to prey on spaceships? Light also only travels a few hundred meters down the ocean, which suggests the Garg was roaming around the surface looking for something to catch up in the clouds. That makes the Void Border all the more terrifying to approach. Ghost Leviathans might come at you if you jump into the Void, but patrolling Juvenile Gargs might just patrol the border and give chase even if you retreat from the void. This is not a critique, by the way. I'm just wondering if anyone else thought about the implications to the ecology.
Currently the ghost leviathan won't target the player anymore. It's still a work in progress. Unless they intentionally made it that way so to make room for the garg
@Mozh644 I'd imagine its intentional since being attacked by the ghosts immediately would make it pretty hard to appreciate the garg. Maybe it could be explained by the ghosts being afraid of the presence of it therefore being quiet and less aggressive.
Not to be a hater, but the garg doesn't feel like a living creature. It moves too fast for it's size and is aggressive toward the player when it would be more effecient to eat a ghost leviathan.
The leviathan actually does not target the player unless you practicallu run infront of ita face, unless youre in a vehicle which it notices more.i get what you mean with the speed but its more of a gameplay over realism thing, it wouldnt be good to play if the leviathan was really slow
Cant believe people still post regularly on Subnautica, Based on how old it is. But I am overly excited about this mod, and hope it releases soon, because i am not waiting another year or two.
Do not get me wrong. This mod is hands down one of the greatest accalimed mods for Subnautica and I support the devs fully for their hard work and tireless development, But I would have loved for the Gargantian Leviathian to just be a mod on its own. Its fully fleshed out, and to wait for precurssor modifcations that while unique and cool on their own, are delaying the Garg and its beauty. Just seems really disappointing. I'd prefer the Gatg to be a standalone mod
While itd be cool to be able to play with the leviathan by itself for a bit- it'd get boring fast as its not integrated into any progression naturally and the only way you'll encounter it is by deliberately going to the void to see it. Once the mod is finished there'll be an entire storyline where you'll be seeing a ton of this leviathan. Leviathans become a lot scarier when you HAVE to go near them as opposed to going out of your way to see them
while it would be great to see gargantuan leviathan in our world, if they just take it out, it's going to be something that's only good for an hour or two of gameplay and it's going to stay there. a wasted job. and what they do, is almost make us feel like it's a third game totally dedicated to gargantuan, playing it without guides will be a beautiful experience and will probably last more hours than the base game itself. so, i and i guess many of us agree with what the developers are doing, i still enjoyed reading your opinion. :)
I think the rocket crash would be a neat feature for if you don’t disable the quarantine enforcement platform as it would be much neater than blowing up but I feel like if the Gary was to replace the ending it would not be a good mod to always have on.
@@KarlismiSN there was, Anthomnia did a review on it a year ago and on the return of the ancients wiki there is an egg and baby garg that you can interact with like the cuddle fish
