    The Victorian’s did not need to do much to scare themselves what with their clothes and style of furniture’s with lamplight, They used to frighten themselves with ghostly images. I live in an old 1856 house and love to scare myself with imaginings as it still has the Victorian features. Please keep finding more stories and give more of your brilliant animations. This channel is perfect for us ! 🍷 Cheers!

      Yes indeed. The Victorian era seems a particularly eerie time, and the style of the day lends itself well to the spooky atmosphere brought on by foggy nights and such.👻
      Living in an old house with all the period features must be wonderful. This time of year, particularly so. From Halloween to Christmas and the New Year - Traditionally, it is a time for mildly scary tales (and Dickens🧐), and to enjoy them in the perfect setting is fabulous🍷.
      Thank you for your very kind words and support. I’m working on another upload now and hope to be quicker and more consistent with producing these video stories from now on😊.

      @@scarystoriesbythefiresideOh yes; please do make as many of these scary stories with your equally spooky animations, as you can… We can’t get enough! Most appreciate all your hard work and great effort that it must take to produce these little treasures. We would like to be glutenous and watch/listen to all the episodes in one go.. but to prolong this pleasure, we will partake one episode per evening to make this last but it is taking great strength to limit ourselves. KEEP UP YOUR GREAT WORK Happy spooking.😱💀🗣️ and thank you.

    One of the great things about the Victorian interest in the paranormal is the demand for the stories was so great, it enabled many woman writers to get their works published. I think many more women writers were allowed to achieve publication due to this high demand. That's just how it seems to me. I could be wrong.

    • @scarystoriesbythefireside
      @scarystoriesbythefireside  6 месяцев назад

      That's an excellent point. The demand for this type of fiction seems to have raced ahead of supply. How many short supernatural tales were written in the late Victorian and Edwardian periods always surprises me. This certainly created opportunities for women writers to get into print, which is great because we can reap the rewards by being able to read their work today, which might not be the case had things been otherwise.

      Thank you @gwendolyn2001 😊. I've become a bit hooked on some these dark Victorian tales myself, particularly the more obscure ones written by the less famous storytellers. Indeed, it was a weird and interesting period.

    • @scarystoriesbythefireside
      @scarystoriesbythefireside  Год назад +1

      It came as a surprise to me too. I thought the supernatural writing would be all "realist" in the tradition of George Elliot and Thomas Hardy and then I began reading Rhoda Broughton, Louisa Baldwin, Lettuce Galbraith etc. I am kind of "quirky" myself, so I love the wonderful weirdness 😊. It must have been great to study the literature of the period in depth.
