Thank you for sharing your information. What soil is best for growing papayas and how much water and nutrients do they require? How tall do they grow and how many papayas does one plant produce?
After you cut down a papaya tree to let it regrow, do you do anything to the base; cut it on an angle, cover, etc? The papaya tree I cut down about two years ago has not regrown. Thanks.
Hi. Nice video and good information. However, it does not gain contain the information I am looking for. Lol...none of them do. What is the minimum height the papaya will produce fruit?
Ahhh less than three feet, says a man.. about how to produce fruit early and short. His first flowers are at two feet. But, there is another way... If you have a Tall one, and Top it. The suckers that grow from the trunk can be Air Layered. Those can fruit very close to the ground, as they would do the same on the hacked tree. An air.layered cutting can be put into a large pot, and make fruit!🍀😊 - So, these branches being cut, here.. Can be rooted by Layering. Good luck!!
SO... If you live where it freezes.. Hack one of your trees in summer. Air layer branches that are pencil thickness or bigger. When they root in the bags, pot them up, before freezes come. You will have the first fruit, Early next season!🎰🍻

Papayas one of my favorite fruit trees!
You know how to grow papaya, cutting the branches that steal energy from the plant increases production. 👏👏
Yeah you got that right 💪🏼
Are you saying by chopping the trees and half you prevent them from growing tall and pushing put branches that produce fruit?

How long does it take for your green papaya to ripen and is there any way to speed that process up?
So spring is when you prune ? Mine is like 15 ft tall and 6 inches around and I was going to try and tr it tomorrow. Should I wait ?
Why not removing them before they develop?
Becouse more branches speed up the growth of the plant i suppose right?
Hey I have a bunch of branches with flowers. Should I cut them off or those the papayas? Or the papayas grow on the main trunk?
It sounds to me like you have a male papaya
Can you top them or cut them off while they are flowering so they won't be so tall?
Can I top cut all growth on a lanky plant? The only growth is at the top and needs to be cut back to thicken the stalk
So do you replant the branches you cut off, or do they just get composted?
We replant most, and give them to friends and family
@@TropicalGardeningJimmyandLuiza. Do you have a video on replanting them?
Can you clone those branches?
Can you put those branches in soil and create roots?
Very good information 😊

@2:10 you say you cut it down vs. letting it get tall. Why is that?
Fruit too high to reach. They get really tall.
