It's almost 3:00 in the morning and I'm listening to Millie J and all I'm missing is a Crown Royal and Coke with a twist of lemon!!! I love me some Millie J, no one else like her... The youngins of today don't have nothing on her!!! Thanks so much for this post and bringing back the memories.
@@basimbambaataa9655 Cheers to you my friend. Funny how time slips away, I wrote that 9 yrs ago!!! I still love me some Millie Jackson. Stay safe, happy and well.
@@OakCliffTX82 Something about 3 in the morning you wanna educate me about, cause I was up at 3:00 9 years ago listening to the talented Millie Jackson.
Love this. Very raw version of this soul classic. Her voice reminds me of Gladys Knight but with a rawer edge. I agree with most of the comments. Soul music at it's finest.
When I was a kid, Millie Jackson scared the hell out of me. When she said listen to the clock on the wall I listened. Funny my son was afraid of Grace Jones.
Ms. Millie is totally educating us all about extramartial affairs. It's required listening for all who want to play in that arena. Millie is an old school performer that knows what to do with what she has! You go Millie!
Band is hella tight! They funkin hard man. Millie is AWESOME, a master talent and incomparable performer the arrangement and the "rapping" on this is mind blowing, and to top it off to have a daughter blessed with a beautiful voice as well....
We had to go upstairs when I was a kid when Millie Jackson was playing ("Nasty records indeed!"). But in the projects, we could listen through the vents! And I'm glad I did, now I have a very happy man! LOL!
What an incredible and classy lady. She's one of the great performers like Elvis or Liberace and all the greats who lead the band instead of just being a part of the whole group. She commands the stage.
Holy SHIT this is the first Millie Jackson song/skit I've ever watched and I think I might be in love. She got some killer pipes AND she's got music cues for her jokes. That's a fuckin entertainer right there.
I had a tape of her live performance. I believe it was from this one here. I was 13 when I heard it...she blew me away. I LOVED HER MUSIC! Such RAW emotion.
HELL Yeah! PASSION is serious thang,, it's emotional/mental...If your level of passion is on time,,, that's sexiness in itself. Millie keeps it so 4REAL..
The 'album' version of this,(besides being the version you should use for a fair comparison), is the opening number of the greatest R&B concept LP/CD ever,(& a huge hit in 74-75): "Caught Up", 6 songs that dig uncomfortably deep into the real implications of living the life this song portrays. In the end, Luther's excellent, sensitive reading pales to Millie's fire.
Ms. Millie Jackson is a true ENTERTAINER!!! I had the honor of seeing her live a number of times and the last time was in the Essence Lounge at the Essence Festival and she put on a fantastic performance. She always told the truth. Thanks for the posting.
I remember back in 86 some little sharp dressed Mexican dude jumped on stage and started grinding against her. She lifted up her leg and said, lord have mercy! The audience ate it up, so funny.
esa voz!!!!!enorme, brutal,ya no existen fieras como Millie,la artista negra con peor vocabulario de la historia y a la vez con un glamour descomunal.amo a esta mujer
Aretha had the most beautiful voice in recording history - this is fact - but in 1975 Millie should have won the RnB Grammy for 'If loving you is wrong' - not Aretha's 'Aint nothing like the real thing.' Millie's 'Caught up' album and Shirley Brown's 'Woman to Woman,' were much bigger RnB hits in 1974 than Aretha's output - and they were better material. Aretha had won the RnB Grammy since 1967 and it was time for a change. Millie and Shirley were robbed.
My girlfriend just sent this to me. I am familiar with the original version by Joe Simon but this is the first time I've heard Millie's version. Nice, very nice.
i like your very creative version of the "If loving you is wrong" Lyric Millie..u just have a sentimental angel like voice...hope to hear more of your stuff
Great Clip. Millie Is The Truth. Back In The Day When My Parents Used To Play This Stuff I Was To Young The Get It. Couldn't Understand Why She Always Talked So Much On Her Records, But I Get It Now. She Put It Out There, Good Or Bad She Let You Know What Was Up.
Love the fact at the end she included a Gladys Knight song, in which she says was her favorite singer, and the fact that they sound alike. She always said, if she goes to hell, it'll be because she had to get dirty to get away from Gladys Knight,(she's such a lady).
I love Millie's strong voice. I would love to hear a sing off between Millie Jackson and Gladis Night. They both have the same strong voice. The only diffence is Millie did songs about grimy shit and Gladis did songs about love jones. Just depends on what kind of mood you're in. I love both styles (all about the mood baby!)
The DIVINE Miss Jackson! On record and (especially) on stage, she was outrageously funny and BRUTALLY HONEST. When it came to love & cheating, she spoke on it!!!
I just love it when she breaks into monologue after she sings. Best part of her performances!!
Nobody screams and hollers like Millie. These young kids today sing to pretty for me. Where the real singers at?
Millie Jackson,is the best from seventies to date, her music never dies!!
Taking me back to that good stuff. Thank you.

The 15 dislikes are the women who had their men turned out by Millie Jackson. You go girl. Tell 'em how it is.
You are the MOST sexiest black woman that ever sang on a stage. Forget Beyonce, Mary J and Tina Turner. You are the Queen.
When I was a kid, Millie Jackson scared the hell out of me. When she said listen to the clock on the wall I listened. Funny my son was afraid of Grace Jones.
😂😂😂😂😂

oh my god what a MASTERPIECE...yesterday i've heard the LP version from CAUGHT UP and every time i listen to this song it left me whitout words...
I got addicted to this woman early in the 80s and I can't just off her. I have bought everything she has sung over and over again.
Band is hella tight! They funkin hard man. Millie is AWESOME, a master talent and incomparable performer the arrangement and the "rapping" on this is mind blowing, and to top it off to have a daughter blessed with a beautiful voice as well....
Damn!! She Got A Voice. I was serching to see who else sang this song and stumbbled onto Millie Jackson. This is why I love YOU TUBE.

What a joy to see her excitement for performing. Classic J. Thomas Lounge song in Houston, Texas.

Cause you're the landlord!!!! And the keeper..... Of our love. 🙌
Thas a Gladys Knight song.
That rawer edge you hear is the difference between a true contralto and a low mezzo soprano.
"I know what I'm talking about, because I don't speak on subject, I know that I'm not qualified to speak on..." Welll....
Fierce and beautiful!
A song that was originally recorded by Luther Ingram taken to another level by one of the most underrated artists, Millie Jackson!!
esa voz!!!!!enorme, brutal,ya no existen fieras como Millie,la artista negra con peor vocabulario de la historia y a la vez con un glamour descomunal.amo a esta mujer
thank you Lord.......so true, without the lies....
