I had the opportunity in 1992 to climb a tower about that size for a small volunteer fire department. Went to a safety class, they purchased a fall protection harness for me, and up I went. I am a big man now and was in my way then. At 6’3” and about 245 I was wore smack out climbing up to replace an antenna and coax. Took me longer to get down because I was tired. Just so happen my first was also my last tower climb.

Will we get to watch it dry too? 😂 jk ... really though, if your club films it, I'm watching it because I know I'll learn something.

This is indeed how industrial towers get painted to, by gloves. They paint the upper portion of the tower red, then white then red then white till they get closer to the ground which the color scheme red and white. The red coloring is an international symbol of danger so that airmen in planes don't hit the tower during the daylight hours, and during the nighttime hours red lights are put on the tower marking it again so that airmen in planes don't hit it.

Why is it the amateur radio folks feel the need to constantly chatter, on the radio, on their videos and in person. Rarely is there any quiet where viewers can just enjoy watching the work being done. It’s nice to know what’s being done but seriously, you don’t have to constantly be commenting through the entire video. This is just my observation and opinion and everyone has their own opinion, I’m not claiming that mine is the only one that counts. Thanks for sharing all of your videos and bringing to light just how much work and expense is involved in setting up and maintaining a repeater site.

Maybe I am living on a different planet but you keep saying that the club cleared the trees and rubbish, tidied up, and mowed the grass, but all I see is an absolute mess around the sheds, the guy wire supports, and the area around the repeater looks unkept and a rubbish tip. Don’t you blokes own a mower, a brush cutter, and a truck to remove the filth?

This is a great question. If you get a chance, go back and watch our Abandoned Repeater series. The site has come a long way. We do not own the land, so we have to get permission for some activities. Lot's of work to do, but little by little we make some progress. Thanks for watching!
