That's why you scrape against the sides in a circular motion then remove the wax like you're trying to clean a pipe instead of pushing it further in like you're packing a Raw cone
This is very good advice. A few days after swimming, my right ear still felt "clogged" and itchy, so I used a Q-tip to get the water out. The ear continued to itch, so I used more Q-Tips over the next few days until I realized that I was only irritating my ear and I stopped. But my ear continued to feel "clogged" and my hearing was impaired. After several months, I was still suffering the itchiness and "clogged" sensation, so I went to see an Ear Nose and Throat ("ENT") specialist. Upon examining my ear canal, the ENT specialist found, and removed, an old Q-Tip cotton tip wedged against my eardrum. Immediate relief and hearing improvement! The tip had been wedged in there for months, and I had not realized!
I've gone to four different hearing doctors and they all advised me to use Q-Tips- but to not stick it in extremely far. Nearly everyone has over-waxed ears- so cleaning them with qtips/water/ear drops isn't bad at all.
STORY TIME: I used a q-tip in my ears yesterday. Right after, all sound was completely muffled in my right ear. The muffling has not gone away. No, I did not roughly jab it in my ear. And no, I did not push it in extremely far. I tried cleaning my ear out myself with Debrox according to box instructions, and it is even more muffled. Using q-tips can push ear wax further into your canal. The ear wax buildup is what's muffling my hearing. So to anyone hating, this is a very real thing. I've learned the hard way. Now, I have to go to an ENT doctor to clean out my ear. 🥺
Currently have a sever ear infection due to a tip use. The doctor said my ears are severely red with open sores and this is the worst she’s ever seen. Now everything’s muffled and well there’s is a sharp continuous pain. This is something o don’t wish in my work enemy
I've done as you said in the past; Twice I virtually neglected "care" of inside of my ears. And twice I have to see a doctor because I ended up SHUTTING IT TIGHT with ear wax. I can't hear ANYTHING on that side of the ear. The medical procedure to get it out is not exactly pleasing: You'd have a small, milimeter size water jet gushing through your ear to "carve up" and dissolve the wax. Then the byproduct is placed inside of a container. The worst case I have is a wax lump the size of a small cigarette butt. And the cost isn't exactly cheap either (will differ from country to country). So now I routinely use q-tip to clean my ears, carefully not to push it further inside. Around once per 3 days and I've never had the medical case anymore. And now you're saying don't use a q tip. So, exactly HOW do I maintain it? Can't use the info on the video, been here done that!
I was actually expecting a solution at the end of this video. But meh, guess they don't care :p So sorry bout' what happened to you. Not thinking of ditching my q tips anytime soon!
+toukairin354 same with me. i had to go to the doctor when i tried not cleaning it. end up the earwax jammed in my ear because too much earwax. so how do we maintain it.
The ears self clean. Most people should not get wax buildup inside their ears and if they do, yes they should see a doctor. Removing the wax makes you more vulnerable to ear infections, and using q-tips can irritate the ears, push wax to parts of the ear that can't clean as well, and possibly do damage to your eardrum. If you need to have your ears cleaned get it done properly with a wash. Long and short of it, Q-tips should not go inside your ear.
I havent used q-tips in 25 years. You should not need them. My ears are probably cleaner than you folks who jam the wax further in. What do you think happened before q-tips were invented? If it were intended, we would have evolved to have tiny q-tip fingers.. animals don't need q-tips, why do you think you do? Just say no to q-tips.
ayman aymano Well if you clean your ears properly so that there's no buildup, a little wax isn't bad. It keeps shit from crawling and growing in your ears stupid ass.
+Sam DelaRosa Just by reading your comment, I can tell you have hygiene issues, and your aggressive behavior probably leads to you having a little amount friends.
I've had a qtip in my ear DAILY since I was 7 after a bath/shower. My last physical was last week. My ear canals are clear. I'm now 51. Just because some people can't do something correctly doesn't mean nobody can.
He's not wrong and it's no scam. I had bad ear infections frequently as a kid (20-25ish years ago), and the doctors and nurses told me the same thing, so this is hardly new. All I do is wick water out of my ears with the towel after showering and my ears are perfectly clean. I also don't get infections anymore. Using qtips only on the outside is safe and effective (just don't drive it into the ear canal), as the wax naturally works its way out of your ears.
They say this to get people to come to them and give them money. Listen, using Q tips are not dangerous if you handle them with care. These doctors just say this to get your money. I have been using Q tips since I was a young child and my hearing is superb. I compose and mix music as my second job so I should know.
I see the problem. It’s the way you use the qtip. My boyfriend who has had ear issues in the past digs it way deep in there and makes a really uncomfortable look on his face and says it hurts. When I do it it feels great. I do it 3-4x a week. Small circular motions and not too deep. In the past 15-20 years I’ve only had one bad ear ache. Hearing is great. His hearing is not so great and he has had to go he r it professionally cleaned. Do not dig it in deep and when you insert you start with it pressed against a wall not in the direct middle. I think it’s about learning how to use the proper cleaning technique. I also only clean my ears after hot showers when I feel my ears a little “wet” inside. I can tell the wax melts a tiny bit making it easy to clean.
If you have lots of wax, don't use Q-tips. Instead, use ear cleansing liquid/drop. Q-tips are only suitable if you have the patience to gently clean the walls and not push it too much inside, possibly damaging ear drum.
That’s why I don’t use cube tips anymore because it would push a lot of ear wax back and my ears would have to have baby oil put in them to get the ear wax out😐
Most of this is untrue, while earwax does keep fungus out, q tips aren't really bad. I stopped getting my ears cleaned for two years, and only used q tips. When I just went to my doctor, they cleaned my ears and there was no was in them, none on the drum, and none in the canal.
That's why I use q-tips daily, because there isn't enough wax to where it goes up my eardrum, and that's why you twist it as it goes in so it picks up the wax

i have always wondered if q tips are bad for ears then why and who invented it and how did it became so popular. Every doctor i have seen prohibits its use.
I absolutely love when I get an itch in my ear canal! I’ll allow it to build up more until I can’t stand it & I’ll scratch the canal with a toothpick or scoop out wax with a Bobby pin & it’s feels FKN amazing!
I've been cleaning my ears with Q tips for many years. Never had a problem. Doctors do it all the time. We in the medical field (I'm not and MD, but I am in the medical field) use an ear wax solvent first, then a Q tip to "mop up" the solution turning the Q tip as you enter the ear. It completely cleans the ear canal without ever touching the ear drum.
Alternatives to Q-Tips: 1) get a professional clean the ear out and remove the wax 2) Use a soft tissue or toilet paper to clean the ears from the outside and inside the auricle - do not go deep into the canal, just make it so that you can't see the wax anymore from the outside
Using curettes yourself to get rid of earwax - though not cotton swabs - can also be very dangerous to do yourself. They should only be used by nurses or doctors (ENTs especially) because you cannot see the eardrum even with your own mirrors to use a curette. And curettes can be sharp and pointed. YOU NEED TO SEE THE EAR CANAL OR EAR DRUM TO DO THE CURETTE THING TO GET RID OF WAX THE RIGHT WAY! That is why pros use mirrors to look into the ear when curetting to get rid of ear wax. Trying to do curetting yourself can rip your eardrum so bad that it will not heal easily, or not heal at all, and it can be something like sensorineural deafness - permanent eardrum damage, and you will not be able to hear anymore.
So as someone who's done this and still does it to this day I think it might be an addiction honestly, basically I go to far and start to hear the end of the q tip moving around in my ear because I have perforated my eardrum by pushing up through the wall into the middle and inner ear I've got hearing problems now and constantly get ear infections and thick earwax build up trust me guys it's really not worth it getting the doctor to clean out your ears alsoooo feels good
I use Peroxide on the Q-Tips. Do it at least once a month. Never had a problem. insert one end of the Q-Tip with Peroxide gently, twist slightly, turn to the clean end, turn slightly, clears it.
Miagy 5 I don’t clean my ears and I don’t have any wax gushing out of my ears, infact it basically the same as everyone else’s ears. Too bad you couldn’t get the shit load of money you waisted on Q- tips.
Q-tips spefically says don't insert swab into ear canal. Originally used for babies (originally called baby gays) you actually push some ear wax deeper in than taking it out can induce hearing lose and if you push in too deeply you can even ruptured your ear drum. Earwax protects us from dirt and bugs
Tip: put the qtip's tip into warm water and then twist the qtip slowly in your ear. Thank me later It also feels better than just shoving the qtip up your ears.
When I stopped using Q-tips. my ears clogged and I could not hear as well, when I clean them out with water, my eyes start to hurt. But then again, some people do clog their ears with q-tips. I guess it depends on the individual.
I just punctured my ear drum with a q tip and I now have horrible tinnitus in that ear. It’s driving me insane. The doctor says in my case the ear drum will not grow back and surgery won’t work either. I am so incredibly scared and hopeless. Please, it’s not worth it. It’s really not.
But it feels good.

Originally used for babies (originally called baby gays) you actually push some ear wax deeper in than taking it out can induce hearing lose and if you push in too deeply you can even ruptured your ear drum. Earwax protects us from dirt and bugs
why does my hearing suddenly improve when using a q-tip to clear some of the wax out then?
Still trying to convince my mom not to use them
Tip: put the qtip's tip into warm water and then twist the qtip slowly in your ear. Thank me later
It also feels better than just shoving the qtip up your ears.
The Q-Tip brand themselves say to not use them for earwax💀
Damn I use these EVERYDAY
Aight im keep on cleaning my ears now it hurts as hell
WHAT?! I CANT EAR YOU
hehe
It tickles when i put the Q-tips in my ears though..
a hocu mozda kurcom cistit?
0:01 Excuse me while I put a Q-tip bigger than my elbow into my ear
Use a hydrogen peroxide solution.
Oh I'm threatened!
*moans in satisfaction while using q tips*
I've been using Q Tips all my life. Never had a problem with my ears.
I learned it on the hard way that q tips are not good
Well my parents convince me to clean my ear with a q-tips, what's weird that I regreted that always.
If earbuds aren't good for the ear then why the hell is it selled in the market....
They Are Quality Tips.
Now They Are Questionable tips.
I actually never use any qtips ever again
When I stopped using Q-tips. my ears clogged and I could not hear as well, when I clean them out with water, my eyes start to hurt.
But then again, some people do clog their ears with q-tips. I guess it depends on the individual.
I just take a hanger cut it up, straighten it out then push it in my ear and out the other. ..easy
I just punctured my ear drum with a q tip and I now have horrible tinnitus in that ear. It’s driving me insane. The doctor says in my case the ear drum will not grow back and surgery won’t work either. I am so incredibly scared and hopeless. Please, it’s not worth it. It’s really not.
damn it feels so good tho
