I like laser for phases that have a lot of weak mobs. Like deer station and all around
I usually use bb pellet for the rest. (Normal stage, apocalypse battleground)

I think tower level doesnt make a difference for this.
Since the boss is moving, either try to use "increase hero attack speed" buff on pet's, structures or props so you can knock back more often or try change the ice Spirit for the elementalist

i was try your build but instead of using Frost, i used the box of the new hero, and then i see the boss and mob didn't be knockback by my Ice Spear
