On the cab side of the bed top rail where it meets the side rails there is a fairly large gap, it is on both sides. What did you use to fill that gap? You can see it at the 4:30 time in the video. It looks like you have some sort of rubber plug/filler in place. Can you tell me what exactly was used or if there is a part to fill that gap?
Interesting product. At first glance id be concerned about the hinge setup. Those two small hinged vs a continuous hinge appears weaker and may not be water tight here in the NW.
How good in terms of water proofing? If not perfect (as I would imagine) any suggested mods to make it more water tight? I’m researching for 3rd gen Tacoma atm and I’m very interested!
The RLD canopy itself is going to be waterproof. It also completely seals around the top of the bed. The challenge is going to be sealing up the inherent gaps found around the tailgate of the Tacomas. While it’s nearly impossible to get it 100% water and dust tight, the thick bulb seals that come with the RLD do a good job preventing intrusion. Dust is also kept at bay via the positive vent valve.
You don’t have to have the RLD flat rack to mount a rooftop tent. With the optional RLD load bar kit (cross bars) mounting a rooftop tent is straightforward. You can choose to either straddle the cross bar with the tent’s hardware like you’d see most RTTS mounted or you can through bolt the hardware through the RLD cross bar itself for an easy clean low profile set up. Depending on how long the hardware is you may or may not need to shorten the bolts. Hope that helps 👍
It’s pretty much flush, unless you add the cross bars. No plans that we are aware of for a high top. Yes, there is a long bed version available. Thanks for questions. 👍
The Gladiator units have been incredibly popular. Right now we have some unsold Gladiator units still available on a shipment currently scheduled to arrive around mid May. Hope that helps.
They have similarities however, there are some noteworthy differences. The RSI units are designed to pack and ship flat like ikea furniture. You then have to assemble the cap before installing it onto the truck. We’re not huge fans of that for obvious reasons. The RLD canopies don’t require assembly and come fully built and crated from the factory. Another noteworthy difference is the RSI units don’t have an angled bevel where it meets the truck bed. This does (in my opinion) look less attractive and functionally doesn’t provide protection to the bulb seal. I imagine that was removed because it doesn’t pack flat and would be subject to shipping damage. RLD units can come with paint match options from the factory. Hope that helps 👍
That depends on what your exactly looking for. Custom colored units definitely have a long lead time, however we do bring containers of units in at a time that have the the most popular units on them. Hope that helps.
This is a great video and would be perfect if you didn’t say “ uh um” over 100 times in five minutes. Just want to help you for the future videos. No bad blood
Blood disorder sincere thanks for the feedback. We pride ourselves on product knowledge and getting you set up for the outdoors, not our onscreen presence. We’ll work on the “uh ums” going forward. Cheers and thanks for watching. 👍
should have a model that has a pop-up top for stand up. Would love one for shortbed Tacoma
AT overland does that

As if I needed another reason to make my next truck a toyota. Great video. Thank you.
Awesome thanks -
Glad you found it useful!
would buy this is in a heartbeat if they made them for 2014-2018 chevy silverados
I have a 2020 GMC Sierra with the 6.5” bed. Do you have a cap for this and can it be shipped to Canada?

can you mount a tent easily to the cross bars, or do you need the flat rack on top of the bars to get enough hardware clearance?

Is this flush with the double cab Tacoma or is it slightly higher? If not, will you make a high top and do you make the six foot bed version?

Hello. I have a Toyota Takoma sr model. I'd like to know the price of the camp shell.
Wait times?
Do you guys make one for a 2013 tundra DC with 6.5' bed??
Do you have one for the Jeep Gladiator Yet?

Turn that into a gun or tool rack and you have my vote. Too much space and money for some eating utensils
almost sounds like the american prepper
@@chrisjohnston7608 haha its true though, you pay 4000 to haul dishes? Pretty dumb
We understand that the foam inserts can be customized from the factory to fit tools or whatever you may want.
RLD vs RSI ?
Why only a 2 year warranty for a $3k cap made of steel ?
What’s the difference in this and the RSI Smartcap?
Good question, they seem almost identical in function and appearance. And both from S Africa

@@RhinoAdventureGear god to see someone finally answered this.
Cost?
Do you they come in long bed? what is the lead time?
Yes they come in long beds - check our website for which make and model the canopies are available for. 👍
Lead time depends on what we have in stock.
Nice but holy crap 5k!!?!better come with all those glasses and bottles of whiskey so I can drink and forget how much I spent on it.
Deal! 😂
Where's the test video? The R1T weighs about 6k pounds that's more than all of you weigh together.
What kind of stainless is used to build this canopy?? Cant find the answer anywhere...
great video but please stop saying (ummmmmmm, Yahhhhhhhhhh< )
6 months lead-time? everything is made to order. Not sure you can run a business that way.
