Hi brother, I have a doubt here. We set the templates as default everywhere when we open a new text document. What will happen if we edit the templates on a new document ?

What is the extension of a template in word?

It depends on the application if it's ms-word then the extension is .docx and .doc and if it is open office writer then it is .odt
