If you want to know what alastor is truly thinking, look at his eyes, because of his constant smile, you can’t really truly understand him unless you look at his eyes, they tell you what he’s scheming.
she did a genius move with alestor. he never sings his own song (except once briefly) and he is just imitating what is in front of him. it prevents us from getting a read on him and what he wants.
Even the one "original" song he had in the pilot episode was just a ragtime parody of Charlie's "Happy Hotel" song she said that he saw on the TV. It even starts the same - "I have a dream" vs "You have a dream" - and namedrops the hotel in the same way - "down at the Happy Hotel" vs "down at this has-been ho-" before Pentious interrupts him.
It's always interesting to think about why Lucifer is like he is. He is depressed, made ONE mistake, and was thrown away by his family for eternal punishment. With that you can see the cynicism he has and the differences between Father and Daughter. To Lucifer, Hell is punishment and a daily reminder of his failings while to Charlie it is Home.
A way to get Alastors true intentions listen to his voice. When it gets super radio staticy, he’s lying. When the radio distortion drops out he’s telling the truth.

The songs hold most of the plot in that episode so it's normal to miss some of it on a 1st listen btw! That's also why, after the 1st song, Alastor was like "That was a productive meeting!", cause in 2 minutes he got the whole tea🙌

As a broadway fan I totally get what you mean, but I've seen a fair share of non musical fans reacting to hazbin and only getting some parts of the plot later on, due to the plot being in the songs.

Carmila was singing about killing angel and not telling about this to anyone because she's afraid that information (that angels actually can ve killed) can provoke a rebellion in hell and start a war in which she can potentially lose her loved ones( whom to protect she killed an angel in the first place).

Not to play Devil's advocate (pun intended), because Lucifer really has been a shitty dad, but most of the reason is because of his mental state. Lucifer made ONE mistake, which was giving humans free will, and then he was cast out from his home by the other angels, only to be trapped in hell, where he can only see the bad results of free will (people being terrible and ending up in hell). In episode 1, Charlie herself in the story, tells that Lucifer became disillusioned after his banishment, while Lilith was the one who thrived in hell. Lucifer is disillusioned and depressed, which was probably only aggravated by his divorce and Lilith leaving. There is a pretty good video from a therapist talking about this, how people who are depressed believe they are not welcome and are intruding on the lives of the people they love, that is why Lucifer hardly ever reaches out to Charlie, but the moment she calls him and SHE asks him to come see her, he is extremely excited, and wants to do whatever he can to help her. He even says "anything in my power is yours for the asking". The only reason he says no to the meeting with heaven is because he is afraid they will crush Charlie, like they crushed him, but he eventually comes around and trusts Charlie's plan.
To this day, I find it really funny even a story that should be known rather well, to the point that even the cliff notes version should have some living space in the back of a lot of people's brains, can be misunderstood in show form like this. That kind of characterization for Lucifer actually makes perfect sense given how they are writing him. It's confusing to me how people don't see that. Also careful on that description with his depression. Hitting a little close to home there. :S I'll have to check out more of this show. I gave it too little credit when I first saw it's announcement. Certainly some great writing in there.
Playing devils advocate as well, we learn that Charlie has actually made LESS of an attempt to have a relationship with lucifer as he straight up says she hasn't called him in years, meaning any time they do interact it's cause HE reaches out

Charlie is a true friend for caring about Angel, especially when she sees Valentino as the monster he truly is. we all need someone like her to fall back on when we have a bad day
“You’re A Loser Baby” is one of the most tragic yet uplifting songs I’ve ever heard. Also Alastor keeps proving again and again why he’s my favorite character. He is Chaotic Evil/Neutral/Good all at the same time!

Alot of people are saying Husk and Angel should be a relationship. Im not necessarily agianst it, but I hope they dont do that. And often when I say that people think its homophobic. But lets be real, if you love this show (the gayest show on TV) your not homophobic. I just think its important to show that you can have two platonic male friends who can be so close and so intimate with each other, without it being sexual, and can save each other by simply being there for one another. Its something, especially in our culture that more men need to see. . .just saying
there's not enough solid platonic relationships in shows these days. I'm TOTALLY with you on Husk and Angel ending up just being good friends being the best and most interesting outcome there. It's kind of just lazy pandering if they end up doing all the dumb ships.
OMG YES! This comment is everything! I love Angel and Husk, but Angel needs to heal and find his self worth (without "strings" to someone else). That's were a good friend comes into play, more than a romantic interest. And that's something you barely find in media😭!! I've seen quite a few reactors get away with posting the full reactions to Hazbin Hotel. They just fade the video and/or have a watermark across it. As for the music, some filter the voices, others just edit the instrumental and have it play acapella style, and some have just let it play (but those reaction channels probably weren't being monetized or something). Anyways, just some suggestions.
Fun fact i realized in this and later episodes: Veggie is everything that Feminist consider Bad writing about woman. Think about it, and pretend for a moment that Veggie wasnt a lesbian but instead had a boyfriend: she is constantly only there to help her partner, she has almost zero own agenda, Everything in her own scenes is only about her love partner. AND the only thing why the audience things that this is okay or sweet or Great! is because she is a lesbian and her partner is also female. Talk about double standards.
I find it rather bizarre people can't see someone who's being low key manipulative from the very start. Throw a tiny bit of personality on them and people are deer in headlights. No wonder we have the issues we have today. From one person who's seeing this for the first time to another, I'd not trust Radio man until he proves himself a little more. Just my take, I could be wrong, but given the evidence it's hard for me to think differently just yet. All that said, show is fucking delightful and going over various things that feels like they need to be shown. I held off seeing this for a long while and just decided to give it a look see, and it's actually far more amazing than I initially was thinking it would be. My fault in that regard. I could do without the singing, but they work it into the comedy well enough that I can excuse it.

Alot of people are saying Husk and Angel should be a relationship. Im not necessarily agianst it, but I hope they dont do that. And often when I say that people think its homophobic. But lets be real, if you love this show (the gayest show on TV) your not homophobic. I just think its important to show that you can have two platonic male friends who can be so close and so intimate with each other, without it being sexual, and can save each other by simply being there for one another. Its something, especially in our culture that more men need to see. . .just saying

there's not enough solid platonic relationships in shows these days. I'm TOTALLY with you on Husk and Angel ending up just being good friends being the best and most interesting outcome there. It's kind of just lazy pandering if they end up doing all the dumb ships.

OMG YES! This comment is everything! I love Angel and Husk, but Angel needs to heal and find his self worth (without "strings" to someone else). That's were a good friend comes into play, more than a romantic interest. And that's something you barely find in media😭!! If they end up going with the love interest route that's fine, but a platonic friendship would be much more interesting/ important to portray, at least until he's better❤ (imo ofc)

I've seen quite a few reactors get away with posting the full reactions to Hazbin Hotel. They just fade the video and/or have a watermark across it. As for the music, some filter the voices, others just edit the instrumental and have it play acapella style, and some have just let it play (but those reaction channels probably weren't being monetized or something). Anyways, just some suggestions.

Veggie is everything that Feminist consider Bad writing about woman.
Think about it, and pretend for a moment that Veggie wasnt a lesbian but instead had a boyfriend: she is constantly only there to help her partner, she has almost zero own agenda, Everything in her own scenes is only about her love partner.
AND the only thing why the audience things that this is okay or sweet or Great! is because she is a lesbian and her partner is also female.

I find it rather bizarre people can't see someone who's being low key manipulative from the very start. Throw a tiny bit of personality on them and people are deer in headlights.
No wonder we have the issues we have today. From one person who's seeing this for the first time to another, I'd not trust Radio man until he proves himself a little more. Just my take, I could be wrong, but given the evidence it's hard for me to think differently just yet.
All that said, show is fucking delightful and going over various things that feels like they need to be shown. I held off seeing this for a long while and just decided to give it a look see, and it's actually far more amazing than I initially was thinking it would be. My fault in that regard.
I could do without the singing, but they work it into the comedy well enough that I can excuse it.
