Having recently tried a 29 inch myself…I honestly feel satisfied enough with 26 inch. Most people I know like “bigger” bikes, but from my experience I don’t like how hard it is to reach the ground with my feet from the seat as well as the 29 inch I rode has the handlebars a bit too far from the seat that it’s almost too long for my arms..

Very well explained in the vid. I have both 26T and 29T variants. My height is 183 cm, and I have bikes with a frame size of 20". And believe me I don't feel much of a difference if I "just" sit on both of them. I think it's the frame size rather than the tyres that matters when choosing a cycle according to one's height. Now having said that, one must always choose a bicycle according to one's uses. For instance, if a person with a height of let's say above 170 cm, and if the purpose is only for daily commute on roads along with some occasional light off roading I'd rather suggest a 29T. However, if one wants to do heavy off roading, a lot of steep climbs, downhill rides and the commute involves sharp turns then here I'd find a bigger tyre like 29T to be quite intimidating. I'd rather suggest a smaller one that can be easier to control, like a 27.5T or a 26T. Again these are my personal preferences and I believe that it's the biker and not bike that make impossible stuffs possible.
When I first bought a mtb, 26" wheels was all there was. I'm 1.8m.. I was used to a larger road bike. A lot of the trails here have really tight sections, and I'm a small person, so 26" makes sense for me. Trying to find something with modern geometry in 26". Getting tired of elitists saying "save more money and get a 29er" like I don't have enough for a mid range full sus 29er already lol. I'm also 6ft (183cm) and I ride 26 with a 90s chromoly frame, I don't ride for long distances and I don't do trail, just commute. to me it works pretty well Your height got more to do with the saddle and handlebar height adjustment than the frame or wheel diameter
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess Well of course that would work for short commuting. Anything would work for that. I disagree that height doesn't play into frame size. It literally goes hand in hand.
Im 5"5 and just started, wont be doing anything crazy except for a pump track. I would mostly be just cruising around with my mates around the city. Would a 26" MTB be good?
With being 5'9" you're kind of in the sweet spot where you're able to fit pretty well on any of the 3 wheel sizes. It really just comes down to your riding style and how you want to ride, on which one would be the best fit to that.
I have all 3. If I ever had to keep just 1 it’ll be 27.5. I’m 5’6 (168cm) so 29ers seem bit of a struggle for me to maneuver even though my 29er is the lightest of all at only 19lbs with pedals & suspension fork. 26ers are fun but don’t tackle obstacles as well as 27.5.
I just got a large GT frame with a 29 inch wheels and it feels like im riding a Horse. 27.5 seems like the sweet spot. It rides smoothly and effortlessly with 29 but i feel id be in trouble on the trails. I dont ride trails often. And thats usually just parks and the Beach. Im usually riding around local from A to B in the City. I like mountain bikes because im not limited to the street. Its the best of both worlds.
I had a little trouble getting this delivered ruclips.net/user/postUgkxn_jUDSlprMIeubd9rHdEAnv59nKfjcKv and eventually had to pick it up from local UPS location, but customer service was really nice and helped me get it before the estimated delivery date. They even gave me a partial refund for my trouble. Thanks Paige! The actual bicycle is just as advertised, and had no damage or scratches. This is an excellent commuter bike for most people. I did a few modifications to make it even better for me personally. I added fenders from my old bicycle. They weren't for disc brakes, but after adding longer bolts and about an inch of spacers the supports no longer interfered with the brakes. I like to pedal HARD and go FAST, so I switched the chain rings to Vuelta Corsa Pro Crankset, Black, 175mm 53/39T Square Taper. This has longer crank arms too, so its kind of 2 upgrades in 1. The front derailleur had to be readjusted so it would stay on only the 2 chain rings until I get a different shifter. I also switched the cassette to one with 11T high gear and a larger low gear. With larger gears on the front and back I also had to get a longer chain. I probably couldn't race this bike unless i got a different cassette with gears closer in size relative to each other, but I can still go plenty fast on flats and downhill while still being able to climb steep hills. For going to and from work and the grocery store this is a great bike. It even looks good. I also added a rear rack and panniers for grocery trips. Now it has great storage capacity especially paired with a backpack. Very happy with my purchase.
18 inch? That's like a small kids bike size. I made a whole other video about all the different sized wheels out there, this one was just about the 3 main mtb sizes. ruclips.net/video/llcJYbVN98s/видео.html
29 for city use because of comfort and stability on the roads that’s assuming that you aren’t going to be doing jumps and riding anything other than city, if you are go for a 27.5 as it’s the most common and the medium
First of all,26 is now cheaper if bought used, new are crap.Used high end bike in perfect condition is better than most entrylevel 29s.You could find xxl size if you are tall and want big bike.Everything is just more economic than in case of new high end bike and performance in case of 26 isnt far back in comp with new 27 or 29. At least it doesent matter for recreation or adventure.
The frame has to fit the rider size, wheelsiz ehas to fit with the size of the bike, these days this now is less of an issue. More sizes and larger reach, better geometry, sizing, and wheelsizes that fit the sizes of bike without compromising handling. I'm 181cm average arms, legs, torso, I have a large Geometron G1, big wheelbase 62deg head angle,515mm reach, have a high riser bar. Big wheels long wheelbase. There are some misconceptions about a big bike like this. No it does not make turns harder. No the slack head angle does not make it harder to claim, it actually does the opposite due to more weight on the front longer wheelbase making the bike more planted. No larger wheels don't make the bike harder to turn, that came from bad geo, sizing bikes where they had big wheels in tiny frames, and horrible geo. So when people rode better riding bikes they tried worse geo 29ers, and possibly bad tyres too.

In 5'8 or 5'9 which size would be best for me?
29"😂
im 6”2 15 years old should i get a 26inch or 29inch????
29er will probably feel better
I was wondering is there a professional racer who still uses 26er and if yes is he anywhere between first positions.

26x 27.5 Mini Mullets have been working very well for me, fun in the tight and chunky stuff. I am quite short and this has been the most playful set up in the gnar gnar. Cleaned out all of my 29er stuff from the quiver a while ago as it just felt gangly , dead and boring in anything but a straight line in the flats. Find out what suits you and go with it, there are no rules.
What about the 28" wheel?
Rim diameter actually the same as 29" wheel.Only difference is the tyre size
So im 5’7 what size do you think would be for me?
Depends on your needs mate.
I've wanted to get into biking for ages but couldn't afford a bike, recently been given a saracen tufftrax hardtail with 26 inch wheels, is it the best bike in the world? Probably not, is it a bike that has, in three weeks got me from blowing out of my arse after 4 miles to having great fun on 7 mile trails? Hell yeah! Loving it and loving getting into the sport, as well as better fitness for my very active job 👍👍
🤘
So if my bike is documented as 26 inch. And i measure the rim it it 22 inch..
Please let me know if you would how to know what a 26 inch wheel/rim/ with tire, wtf ?
Subscribed to yah to help, can yah help me out? Rim size tire size. Damn confusing

I am 180 and can by a Trek 4900D with 26" Tires. I would like to drive on a road with hills and roads with loose sand. Would this be a good bike for me?
Yes
Yes, absolutely
My First HT I Put over 6000km on 26in Tires 😎
I prefer a size 29 or 26. I want to use a bike for normal roads, and sometimes I use it on roads that have dirt and stones. My height is 183. What is best for me?
A 29er would be nice for road/gravel riding. They roll faster than a 26 and roll over road imperfections nicer. Not to mention it would fit your height pretty good.
I'm 1.84 cm can I ride a 26 " bike ?
Yeah you could, you would probably want an XL frame being that tall.
@@YourFavoriteCyclist 190cm, 26 with L frame - perfectly fine for me 👌🏻
As a city bike on tarmac and no hills; would a 26 be fine on a single speed bike? I am just under 6 feet.
Completely adequate.
Should work fine!
thanks for showing a side by side comparison
Glad it helped!
I'm 178cm and I've had a 26T hardtail mtb for 3 years now, I was wondering should I keep or change, I travel short distances because I live in a village between two cities and I like going for a ride around one of the big local cities,
I've never tried a 29T and I see plenty of them people riding them around the city
If you like what you have, keep it
I'm 6' tall but the bike I want is a BMW 26". I want it to match my car, but I am hoping I don't regret the size..
As long as the frame size fits you fine you will be ok.

Still ride my Gaint Faith 0 mullet 26 27.5 front with -2 degree angleset and a marz 888 rc3 evo coil triple crown (still the best fork i've ever ridden), and a ohlins rear shock. i have a mich dh22 front and dh34 rear. Still rides like a dream. will try 27.5 29 mullet once i get my custom 650b dropouts.
What's the advantage of mullet bikes?
@@joshmanwaring3848 tried 29 mullet with rockshox zeb 190. Makes the bike more of a plow machine without sacrificing corners
A lot of the trails here have really tight sections, and I'm a small person, so 26" makes sense for me. Trying to find something with modern geometry in 26". Getting tired of elitists saying "save more money and get a 29er" like I don't have enough for a mid range full sus 29er already lol. Think I might just get a custom frame, modern geometry built for 26", but leave room for 27.5 if I decide I want to go that way in the future.
My height is 5'6 ft so is 26 T is good for me .
Im like 163cm and im 14 which size do you recommend
A 26" wheel will probably fit you the best
@@YourFavoriteCyclist I'm 170cm and 15 which size would you recommend
Question please? I'm 35(man) 5'10 180lbs. Anyways I use to bmx in teenage day, ramps and street. My 10year old son rides bmx and I want to ride the ramps with like half pipes and bowls and what not plus like around town. Is a 21in top tube with 20in wheels bmx bike to small or should I look into like a bigger dirt jumper but still ride quarter pipes and bowls and what not. Thanks man...great content...it's been super long but want to join in the fun with my son ✌ ☮
The BMX bike is going to be more nimble, I prefer the feeling of a dirt jumper myself, it just feels more comfortable being a taller adult.
6ft 210lbs should I go for Large 29er?
Usually go for long rides
That should fit you pretty good!
I'm also 6ft (183cm) and I ride 26 with a 90s chromoly frame, I don't ride for long distances and I don't do trail, just commute. to me it works pretty well
Your height got more to do with the saddle and handlebar height adjustment than the frame or wheel diameter
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess Well of course that would work for short commuting. Anything would work for that.
I disagree that height doesn't play into frame size. It literally goes hand in hand.
I've been riding 29 my whole MTB life call me stuck in my ways
Im 5"5 and just started, wont be doing anything crazy except for a pump track. I would mostly be just cruising around with my mates around the city. Would a 26" MTB be good?
If thats your plans a 26" wheel would be the way to go.
Can’t find 26 in racing rims
ruclips.net/user/shortsWhVagukjEBs?feature=share
Say...i have an vintage mtb bike. The wheels is 26 but the frame is quite large soooo is it okay for a 179cm ?
Its going to depend on the size of the frame and if it feels comfortable for you to ride.
I’m 5’9
Which one do you recommend me ?
With being 5'9" you're kind of in the sweet spot where you're able to fit pretty well on any of the 3 wheel sizes. It really just comes down to your riding style and how you want to ride, on which one would be the best fit to that.
Im same height on a medium 29er
I'm 6'3 can a 26 inch bike fit me?
You'll be looking at either a XL or a XXL frame size but it should be fine.
@@YourFavoriteCyclist thank I appreciate it
I have all 3.
I don't notice difference between 26" and 27.5" it's only half a inch difference
@@coin6625 1.5 inches. It matters.
@@gary7vn with tyre it's only half a inch difference
Think a 29er if you do lots of RoadWork Or DH
29er For a DH Bike Forsure or HardCore Enduro Rider . Im 5.7 and Put 6000km on my first HT with 26s 😎 i have 26s Now But Want 27.5 i see the Reality
I love your enthusiasm and personality
Thanks! 🚲
I'm 16 an I'm 183 tall which size is for me?
Whichever is most comfortable for you. Recommend heading to your LBS and trying out the different sizes!
What about 18 inch are they dead or something?
18 inch? That's like a small kids bike size. I made a whole other video about all the different sized wheels out there, this one was just about the 3 main mtb sizes.
ruclips.net/video/llcJYbVN98s/видео.html
I shred that on 18 inch
I'm 165cm age 24 which best one?
A 26" wheel should be a good fit for you.
@@YourFavoriteCyclist yea I was using 24 for long time but now 26 is great now I will get 27
26"x 27.5+ Mini Mullets for the win. Particularly for the shorter rider.
Hahaha I am 5' 3 but I am using 29 ers.its fast. My MTB Frame size is medium..
I am 170cm and i just got a 29 bike
Hi can you recommend me a size for me. I want it for city use. im 184 cm and 200 lbs guy.
At least it doesent matter for recreation or adventure.
my height is 5'6 should i use 26er bike?
A 26" bike would probably fit you the best
@@YourFavoriteCyclist thanks

A 26" wheel or a 27.5" would probably be the better fit for you.
i’m 5.5 5.6 and i’m going to get a 29. does that sound suitable to me?
hell no,im 5,7 and i have 26,it is a perfect size i recommend u 26
The 27.5 plus is a sleeper.
My height is 5'8'.but i have 26 inch mtb. This is suitable for me...
Yep! Should be a nice fit for the wheel size
I'm buying a 27 inch mountain bike rn for $80 ima change the steering wheel out because it too far from the seat I believe I haven't got it yet lady is 10 minutes away on her way rn I'll update my comment on how fast I can get it to go lol 😂I plan on turning it into a ebike 😂 1500 watt hub and 42v 20ah battery 🔋 can't wait to go 30-50mph lol 😂
