Putting in the "blood, sweat, and tears" in a spot that feels like there's just nothing is exactly right. I just get lazy sometimes. Great reminder to work that creative muscle.
I think everyone gets ups and downs with creativity. If I'm in a rut I like to go out with a single prime which will force me to try some different angles and hopefully get the creativity flowing again.
I think your videos are probably my favourite. Informative, casual but also well edited. Sometimes youll say something and then I'll be like "hmm but what about ____" and then you cover that haha. Fantastic content mate. I also love the fact youre open about how much you Sometimes struggle to get the shot without perseverance etc. Makes me feel better about the fact I dont get a banger every time I go out with my camera.
Thanks so much for your kind words. I am putting a lot of time and effort into them so great to hear it is working! I watch a lot of channels that give the impression that they go out and get amazing shots all the time, so I'm also trying to keep it real ... and at the moment, I am really feeling that ... we've had overcast conditions for such a long time now where I live and I'm starting to get cabin fever!! 😆🙈 As always thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated 😁👍
Absolutely love this mindset. Need to get myself away from the idea that "some days I'm going to be creative and others I'm just not." Great video Mike!! Love the style you're developing
Thanks so much Ian! I'm having a lot of fun writing, shooting and editing these videos ... they are developing a bit like my old tutorials used to be, just outdoors. 😀👍
This video was, well..., inspiring. It was a somewhat dreary snowy day here in Albany NY, and I didn't fee like cleaning the snow off the car. So I went down just a few houses to the corner intersection and got some shots I was satisfied with by getting creative and seeing some the same old things in a new way, including of the city snow plow just as it was coming around the curve, and right at me. If I wasn't there, I wouldn't have got the shot.
Great to hear Robert!! And that is exactly why it is great to just go out and shoot, as much as you can. If you're not there, you will never capture the moment ... unless you have a remote camera unit that is ... 😆 Thanks for watching 😁👍
Excellent video, several times I've looked at other photographers photo's and visited the place to see it for myself and come up with different idea's, so many stunning places to visit and see here in the UK. I will admit a few times I've looked and thought I'm not climbing that today and found another shot nearby
Haha I know what you mean! There are always shots to be had, and they're not always from the highest point!! 😆 One thing I find fascinating is when you get to a place you've seen lots of photographs of, and it looks very different to what you pictured in your mind. In this video ruclips.net/video/B-VofMQO5a0/видео.html I didn't realise there was a huge rocky outcrop behind the point at which this photo was taken ... and I found a load of other compositions and potential locations for foggy conditions as well. Thanks for watching 😁👍
Great tips, Mike. Creativity is definitely something that I, like many others, struggle with. What I have come to realize, is that opportunity (just having a camera and the ability to use it) is the most important step in the creativity process. If you go somewhere with a specific shot in mind and the conditions do not work out, you get frustrated and don't allow yourself to take advantage of the hundreds of other opportunities to be creative. A friend of mine told me once that if you go somewhere to get a shot of the mountains but the light is illuminating some weed patch better, shoot the weed patch. For whatever reason, that has just stuck with me. Hope you guys are doing great, brother. I will look forward to next weeks video.
Great advice, Mike. It is so hard to tell people to put in the work. My photography started with my fishing adventures. Some breathtaking views and sights out there on the water. Sadly, most fisherman are not photographers and most photographers don't fish. Each have a different eye on things. Stay safe and warm.
Thanks so much Lance! It really is! And not many people want to hear it ... including me sometimes ... 😆😆 I bet you see some amazing sights at times. It's sometimes the things we do outside of photography that get us to those amazing conditions! I used to have a dog and I walked him every morning, I saw so many amazing sunrises because I was just out all the time ... As always thanks for watching my friend 😁👍
Thank you, and great to hear you have noticed! I'm really thinking about what I am putting in the videos this year with information that will hopefully help, instead of regurgitated lists. thanks so much for watching! 😁👍
Thank you Mike. Luckily we live in an area (Arizona, between Phoenix and Tucson) with many opportunities. Every time we go out we find new, and surprisingly good areas for photography and sometimes in the least expected places. I agree: curiosity and creativity are key.
That's great to hear Reno! It is sometimes easy to keep going to those same places, but if you make a habit of finding new things, you'll be amazed at what you find! As always thanks for watching 😁👍
Was going to do some street photography today but when I got out i didn't feel like it at all! For me i just went home and recharged my batteries (not the camera batteries) 📷 happy weekend, Mike!

Nice one Mike, enjoyed this very much. Been scouting a new location today as it looks as though we are about to get a good dusting of snow come next week. No worthy keepers but a few ideas for when the snow arrives. Have a great weekend 👍😊
Thanks very much Barry! Scouting is such a great thing to do ... And I've definitely got my fingers crossed for some snow next week!! 🤞 Great to hear you liked this one. Heading out for a sunrise tomorrow morning so hopefully I'll get some good light ... Although probably jinxed it now!! 😆 If all else fails, it'll be a scouting mission. As always thanks for watching 😁👍
Sometimes for me, the camera is really also just a good excuse to be out and about. Like, I take 100 pictures, and none of them are really that good. I'll keep some as a memory, but also, it was probably a nice day out walking or visiting a city.
This is why photography is so good! I sometimes am the same... getting bogged down with the business and spending days in front of the computer can be a grind so having a camera is a way of getting out and about... and having those memories recorded is even better. @@mikesphotography Wow! I am, very much looking forward to your lens findings. I like the Tamron 28-200 very much for it’s size, weight, and focal range. Effective thumbnail; question mark in title is more diplomatic than a negative assertion, IMO. Mike laying down on the job??😊 Solid advice for getting better images overall. A photo of a sheep on a hill, perfectly composed, exposed, timed, and rendered in post can make for an impressive image, but not “creative” if the “improbable” element is missing. By contrast, an image of a sheep taking a pic of Mike would be creative. Build on that for even more creativity; have the sheep with a camera surrounded by the rest of the flock - all wearing cameras, too. You get the idea. Simpler landscape creativity might include zoom motion blur or other intentional camera movement, or special treatment in post. Again, have element of the improbable. Disappearing hand in vid is creative. Hope that makes sense.😊 Yes, nice house on the hill, but I wouldn’t want to live there (long hike to roadside mailbox, treks elsewhere. Road blocked and you’re out of luck. Septic system, spotty Internet, slow Amazon delivery😊). Cheers!
Haha! Good point about the house on the hill ... although I went up there today and it was a damn good view ... I think the internet would be great as there was a mast right next to it!! 😆😆 You make a good point about creativity, I suppose I should have called it How to get your mojo back ... 🤔 I was trying to be creative in the thumbnail though. 😆
i bought a cannon RP last year and this new year i bought a DJI mini 3 pro. however, i never use them before... i bought them because i wanna be narcissistic on Instagram. however, i dont know take photos nor videos lol

Simpler landscape creativity might include zoom motion blur or other intentional camera movement, or special treatment in post. Again, have element of the improbable. Disappearing hand in vid is creative. Hope that makes sense.😊
Yes, nice house on the hill, but I wouldn’t want to live there (long hike to roadside mailbox, treks elsewhere. Road blocked and you’re out of luck. Septic system, spotty Internet, slow Amazon delivery😊). Cheers!
Haha! Good point about the house on the hill ... although I went up there today and it was a damn good view ... I think the internet would be great as there was a mast right next to it!! 😆😆
You make a good point about creativity, I suppose I should have called it How to get your mojo back ... 🤔
I was trying to be creative in the thumbnail though. 😆
i bought a cannon RP last year and this new year i bought a DJI mini 3 pro. however, i never use them before... i bought them because i wanna be narcissistic on Instagram. however, i dont know take photos nor videos lol
The best thing is to go out with your camera and learn how to use it properly. A chef can have the best pots and pans, but if he doesn't work at his craft, he'll never make a great meal.
Thanks for watching 😁👍
Did you see the jupiter/venus conjunction?
I didn't see them at their closest because of cloud cover where I live, but looking out of our window now I can see how close they are. 👍
@@mikesphotography it will happen again in 2039 or 30 something 😅 so good thing we saw it now 😊
And you dont ned to go to fancy locations.. Opportunties are all around.
