He's unbelievable. I don't recall another 19-year-old defenseman that has been THIS solid, THIS physically mature in all of my years watching hockey. Yeah, he's not going to get highlight-reel goals like Makar and Hughes. But, as far as straight-up defensive prospects go, he's got the potential to be the next best defenseman in the NHL. Nicklas Lidstrom agrees with me, so, you should too.
Exactly. Don't have to worry about him in his own end like Makar or Hughes. Can trust him in ALL situations. That's priceless to have in a young defender. He's got it all man.
He is going to struggle. I know you red wings fans think this guy is going to be a Norris trophy winning guy but temper your expectations. He is going to have a few very rough years. Many of these plays simply would have been broken up in the NHL. He looks like an amazing prospect. That that is the guy term Prospect. I think he will be a solid NHL defenseman but the over hype is real.
@@davidkruse4030 lol whatever you say man. Ranked number one prospect in the world is going to have some tough years huh? No doubting he will be tested and might not get away with some of the stuff he does now but he's a Norris trophy winner next season. I've never touted a prospect in the Wings pipeline as much as Seider.. he's incredible.
I was all for that Bryson kid(crazy I don't even remember his name anymore)that Avs picked who I thought was by far the best dman in the draft and the perfect fit for us. When Stevie was at the podium I was OK with settling for Cousins. When I heard the name Sieder(for the first time in my life no less) I couldn't believe it. I was shocked and pissed. I will NEVER question our Captain again.
@@vmi4172 I think alot of people learned that lesson 😂. But there are still folks out there that question his every move, which is extremely annoying. I thank God every day that fans aren't allowed to have input for this organization lol. Some other orgs like Buffalo and Vancouver maybe.. but we should just enjoy the ride while Stevie mans this ship for us.
I must have watched these highlights like 50+ times in anticipation for his rookie season in Detroit, and now he just won the Calder. It's so surreal that after all this time obsessing over the next steps for him, he ended up getting recognized as the best rookie in the league.
I'm so glad you highlighted his actual defensive game. It's annoying how highlights rarely include good, solid defensive plays. It's usually offensive plays and hits. It's like the defensive side of that game doesn't exist usually...
I could watch this kid play all day. His particular way of playing physically is so satisfying to watch. Really wish the team I cheered for got a chance to draft him.
I can just imagine Stevie and Drapes sitting in an office in LCA just watching some of this stuff on a big screen and breaking down the little minute details and just smiling at eachother knowing what they landed at 6th overall lol.
Imagine getting into a fight with him. There are probably only few people who would dare to fight him let alone have a chance against him. He is such a beast yet also very disciplined and most importantly not dirty. He is basically a new Kronwall :)
@@vmi4172 yeah that actually seems like a good comparison to me. Although I was mostly referring about his physical plays. Obviously he has a huge offensive upside and is a great, physical playing, two way defender and some day could easily win the Norris trophy.
As a rögle fan, this guy is already worldclass and the only knock on him is that he is gonna need a veteran beside him. When Gelinas was injured he looked a little lost
@@russtty It's crazy because Buffalo picked right after us lol.. i would feel sooo bad having an elite talent like Seider being condemned to the Sabres 😂. Luckily he's with the best original 6 franchise for the duration of his career 😁

Can never say never, sure penalties will happen when you play physical. But in the SHL he has rarely gotten penalties and everyone is praising him for how clean he hits. Hopefully that will continue to the NHL!
I dont know. Most of these plays in the nhl would have gotten broken up or he would have gotten his pocket picked. It looks like he has a lot of work to do. You guys are over hyping him a bit.

I didn't realize he had been paired with Gelinas for most of the season. That's great experience for the kid. Likely the best D pair in the SHL.
Damn son.. can't wait to see him again in Detroit

that’s why Stevie picked him first round he knows potential when he sees it 👍
One of the best highlight videos I’ve watched, love how it was so organized into the categories and facets of the/his game.
Fantastic video, I can't wait to see how he does in the NHL
I knew there was hype around him but now I see why. Great video he looks like a perfect top dman. Just love his physical game 😂 4:00
More hits Seider 😎
Oh yeah!
p(h)uck yeah!
He doesn’t let you stand ground, period!
I mean he’s just a big, mean, German Machine isn’t he. Just straight ragdolling what I’m assuming are grown men like their five year old children

I love how how he plays with an edge, going to have clean it up for the nhl though. They sure do let them play in the shl. Great video
The last young d-men that was this good for the wings was jiri Fischer and seider is better comparing same age.
good comparison. And Fischer was a solid Dmen. Nothing overly special.
Dude. This is one of the best junior players ever in SHL. Up there with Peter Forsberg and Elias Pettersson.
I mean Dahlin certainly is up there lol.
Mo-Town Seider is the best Cider 🍺
Definitely see him cashing in on something like that lol the most purchased drink in Metro Detroit 2026 😂
