Septarian is that rock with the veins. The Native Americans call them lightening stones
Wrong location for it to be that
Its actually quartz in rhyolite
I found some near Seaton Sluice (NE England) and it looks more like Septarian from Google images than Rhyolite.
It is septarian Rock. I found some just north from this location and had it identified by a geologist in Edinburgh.
Reminds me of kintsugi
No matter what my day holds, you both bring me such lightness and joy! Thank you so much for taking the time to search beautiful beaches and use your skill with jewelry techniques to bring us these videos. Such a labor of love from you both. Thank you, thank you, thank you. They are beautiful!
Same here !
I love relaxing and watching a mud larking episode. Thank you for sharing your finds with us. 💜
Just finished with Tom Burleigh's latest vid and yippee! Northern Mudlarkers drop a new one! Life is good!
I’m holding down my couch in Lacey, Washington State and yet able to enjoy your many finds in Scotland - what a treat! Thank you 🙏
Wish we had old stuff.
I'm in Tri-Cities, Washington & I love to imagine I could find any of these items here.
J. K. Rector, Same here in Nor Cali. It's so nice to have their vids to look forward to.
@@AnxiousKoala Petrified-agatized-opalized- wood, Yakima and Columbia River agates, fossils, artifacts (9000 year old Kennewick man was not alone)....
@@ras2084 I've been learning about lots of these things recently (haven't lived here long) and you are correct, he wasn't alone. Thanks for reminding me of the awesome stuff around me though, sometimes I forget to look where I am. :)
Wow that ring turned out great
I have a new appreciation for handmade jewelry and the effort that is put into it.
A rock hound here, I just love Carnelian. I rejoice every time I have found them in the rivers of Oregon and Washington. I love agates as well, my favorite. The oranges and reds are my favs. I love every piece of jewelry you make Gail. This ring turned out so pretty. There are silicon and rubber finger guard thimble thingy's you could protect your fingers with whilst filing and sanding. Thanks for sharing!-C-
You can't feel with those things on your fingers, me and Gail are to old to teach us a new trick
Christina Simpson, I live on the border of Washington & Oregon, are there really Carnelians around here? I find agates but usually nothing as brilliant as they found in the video.
Tara Hansen yes, you can find them in most of the coastal streams and beaches here in Washington and in Oregon. It’s just a matter of looking. I was camping earlier this year and was able to find lots of them along the beaches in Long Beach and Westport, Wa, and in Warrenton, Or.
Alex says they're beautiful and they are going to look really juicy when they get wet. I had just been thinking how much they looked like butterscotch, caramel, orange, honey and lemon drops.
As always, Superb craftsmanship from you both! Cornelian is one of my very favorite stones. The Shwoos gave their stamp/nibble of approval. : ) You have Blessed my day. Thank you both and your tuxedo purr purr.
Wow,thinking the same thing !!! They all look so yummy !!! Lolol 🥰😇👍
@@muffintuffler, Sure do ! : )
Gail you do a great job on your designer jewelry.
That shot with the ring and bead together in the moss was absolutely breathtaking! A lot of work but, wow, they are gorgeous. Love your videos, thanks for sharing
First of all, I LOVE carnelian. It is one of my absolute favorite stones. So gorgeous! And I'm so jealous you can just go down to the beach and find them on the ground all over the place!! Second of all, not ONLY do you mine your own gemstones, not ONLY do you polish your own gemstones, not ONLY do you hand create exquisite pieces of jewelry to showcase them, and not ONLY do you make videos about them, but you ALSO train your own bees to act on command!!! CUE THE BEE!!! That was PERFECT!!!!
Your work is exquisite. My goodness it is gorgeous. My word it's fantastic.
That bead is so beautiful Alex! The apple hasn't fallen far from the tree has it, you are both so talented! x
That big chunk of carnelian looks like a sugar dusted piece of Turkish delight 🥰
Spittal beach is one of my favourite places. I was taken there on day trips when I was wee. I was there just over a week ago, first visit since before lockdown. Tide was almost in though. I found a few agates. I think there was something on the notice board on the path near the chimney about the vaned stones. I found out the chimney was part of a huge fertiliser factory. The chimney is all that's left now. Watch out for dolphins near the lighthouse next time you are there. And diving gannets. You got some great finds there. Another super vid, cheers.
I enjoyed watching the process of turning the glass into an ornament. You give me so many ideas. Thank you.
That necklace is beyond awesome!!!!!
SUCH REWARDING PERSISTANCE
FOCUSED BEAUTY ....MMMMMMM.
UTTERLY BEAUTIFUL 😍
Such tiny things that are bypassed by most travelers...such true wealth and beauty. How magickal. The resulting ring and bead, the products of such focused work, on two little surf-weathered pebbles - amazing. Thanks for sharing.
your mom is very talented jewelry maker that ring is gorgeous
Thanking you both for taking us along as you gathered your stones/gems on the beach it was lovely!! Another beautiful ring Gail as we’ve become to expect! You’re very talented!! I look forward to your next video! 👍🇦🇺🌻💕
Gail its fascinating watching you make jewellery and that ring is stunning. And Alex you did realy well to make that bead your poor fingers must be so sore so well done you. What a lovley day you had there.
Twenty or thirty years ago, I had a obsessive interest in “rock hounding” as it is called in North America. One thing I learned in my research was about polishing a “window” on a stone to see what is inside. It is especially useful for those without large cutting wheels for dividing big rocks with deceptively plain exteriors, but hidden beauty inside. The process let’s them “see inside” the stone to discover if it is worth it to have someone cut it up for them. I was thinking, on some of the wee gems you have found, where there is banding, etc., you could take just one face (or two) of the stone and grind/sand it down ‘til it’s flat, then polish the face ‘til it glows. I think the juxtaposition of the polished face and the raw stone would make a lovely “statement” in a pendant or earrings or a bead. I can see it in my mind’s eye. It could be quite lovely with the right stones. I love your videos and look forward to more of everything you do, especially the bead-making & jewelry crafting. Truly amazing.
👵🏻🐾💕🇨🇦
What a interesting person your are ! I’d love to know more about the adventures of rock hunting. I just stumbled across this channel today. It’s addictive
Beautiful video, such fun finding all that treasure. Awesome job on the ring Gail and the bead Alex. Thank you so much for sharing.
Amazing beautiful jewels! Wow, so many 😳 you're so lucky to go to these great places. I am lucky that I get to share in your travels. Thanks so much 🙏
The ring is beautiful, Gail!
Stunning -artistry of jewelry and photography! Alex your bead is beautiful -but yes, proper tools would help; still the outcome is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for bringing so much beauty to all of us.
Thank you, Gail, for showing us all the steps in your process.
Amazing work & very nice afternoon beach walk with you - Thanks
Those brown stones with the veins I believe are Septarian. We have them in Michigan that look just like those and we call them lighting rocks.
no, septarian is completely different, they are yellow, brown, gray colors
Enchanted Reveries I think it comes in different forms in different places. I know what your talking about but in Michigan we have septarian nodules that look exactly like those brown stones on the table.
Septarian is also found in Utah.
They are actually quartz in rhyolite, as seen here www.sciencephoto.com/media/669923/view/quartz-veins-in-rhyolite-rock
In Michigan, we do call them lightning stones. They are Septarian nodules. I don't know what the other lightning rocks you are referring to is, Enchanted Reveries, but we do call them lightning stones here in Michigan.
Beautiful ring & bead. Love the history behind the stones.
Amazing finds! I recently received an amazing treasure in the mail: the most lovely hag stone! It was beyond generous of you to send it to me, and I appreciate it so much! I’m going to have to make a necklace or bracelet worthy of it, possibly with leather. Again, thank you, ladies. This is a great episode, too
Lovely storytelling from start to finish. The pair of you are a wonderful & hardworking team, bringing lots of joy to your faithful subscribers. Thank you.
Bravo, Bravo beautiful ring and bead, excellent work ladies
The Orange and the yellow and white would make such a pretty necklace.
The ring turned out so pretty. I thought you would lay the stone flat. But I love the way you set it!
It catches the light so beautifully!
You both find beautiful stones and the jewellery you make is really beautiful it just really shows what you can find on the beach
That ring is so beautiful, you both have so much talent. Thank you for you videos. I really enjoy watching
Such beautiful souls Thankyou for sharing your passion. Of history., knowledge, historical finds and recreative of past crafts. You are a joy to watch. Thankyou again.
Alex * your photography captured a lot of emotional feelings, especially the tide sneaking a round and about the sand, almost as if it were quietly crawling in on tiny fingers, like a Sea star would move about.
6:38 I once thought I found such a stone, but I held it up to the light and it was... half a dried out gummybear... lovely colour though!
Haha! Oh no 😂

Something so simple as "we now" think of a bead is actually an amazing feat! As I watch you and think of my love for stones and finding little treasures as you do, I realize I think I missed my calling. But I do so enjoy watching both of you, mother and daughter doing what you love!
That ring is stunning!
Good to see Barbie and she has her Mudlark outfit still on! LOL Love your videos.

Another absolutely lovely lovely video. So beautifully well done. Thank you for the moment of peace.
What a beautiful, relaxing, tranquil video. Thank you Gail and Alex! 😊💕
Gorgeous
Have you ever considered getting a rock tumbler (rock polishing machine)? They will make any kind of stone have a high mirror shine. When I was little, my family & I would go to the beach & collect agates too. My dad would then run them through the tumbler & we made a few bit of jewelry, but we never took the time to file them down or put bead holes in them. You would love a rock tumbler, they are amazing. Nice work on the ring & bead! They're so pretty.
They look like chunks of peaches 😊, the ring is stunning.
Oh yummy! Thank you so much! xx
Woah this beach is so cool!! I hope you guys go back often! So many cool treasures 😍

I so enjoy your searching and creating. Seeing you craft such beautiful things from your treasures is the highlight of my week. I have been a professional artist for years but have only been making jewelry for a little over a year. Thanks to watching you, I asked for a tile saw for my 70th birthday and have begun crafting some stones to make into pendants, I hope. Thanks for sharing your gifts with the world.
