    You can easily rig up a black plastic 10 gallon water container on the roof of your van. The sun can warm it. Just use a siphon to feed a nozzle that sprays you. Walmart has a 5 gallon bag for camp showers too. Carry a cravat and learn the old Boy Scout way to tie up an ankle. Good Luck, Rick

    Just to be clear, you're going for THE FKT on the Appalachian Trail, as 41 days on the nose would be faster than the any of the four categories of FKT's on the AT (Male Supported, Female Supported, Male Self-Supported, and Female Self-Supported). Wow, that is amazing, and I will certainly be following along. If I had any advice to offer at all, it would be: use as many pacers as you possibly can for every single section--ideally, trail runners from the area. Good luck!

    • @taratreks

      Yup! The FKT!

    Good luck! You did not fully answer the hours of sleep question but it makes sense that it will decrease as you get closer. I start my thru hike soon so happy trails!!

    • @taratreks
      @taratreks  7 месяцев назад +3

      Hey, good luck on your upcoming thru hike! Some people during these types of fkt get a full night sleep, depending on their pace throughout the day. I’m not sure how my pace will lineup, so I’m apprehensive to give a number of hours. A lot of people who have completed Appalachian Trail fkts have mentioned that they felt like they slept too much. I want to be open to whatever I need to do to complete the FKT .

      @@taratreks I have heard some people in ultra marathons sleep for like 20 minutes and are just fine. It definitely can vary a lot; I get that!!

    • @taratreks
      @taratreks  7 месяцев назад +2

      @@sticktheeagle yeah ultramarathons have people that sleep none and like you said 20 minutes. For the AT it’s necessary to get at least 5 hours of sleep a night I’d imagine. Its hard to keep your body running for that long with little rest

    For what it's worth, I learned years ago from a chiropractor how incredibly helpful massage is for a sprain. I sprained my ankle bad once while running. I heard the "pop" and immediately went to the ground. I hobbled over to a bench and immediately started massaging my ankle and doing ROM exercises. My ankle swelled to baseball size but I kept at it 4-5x/day. I was running again in a week. (Note: I am not a doctor. This is not medical advice.)

    just a thought, the people I have seen doing this have a second vehicle , just in case . The other option is to have a very long list of people along the trail to call on , its a game of minutes . i will be able to help if you need , think of this as nascar on foot. Allen

    Hey Tara, sorry to hear your ankle is still bothering you. A bad ankle has affected my trail running for months. Perhaps a video of the PT you are doing to strengthening your ankle would be a good idea.

      You don’t need 25 hours a week. Around 60 ish mile weeks should do it. Its all about running economy and quality time on feet
