Fiats have always been an unreliable vehicle combine that with Chrysler which has for years been at the bottom as far as reliability now combine that with three French car companies and you have a poor combo at best. All unreliable brands and have been for years. Perhaps you are the one who should do your research. JEEP just empty every pocket. remember that. class dismissed.
In India the compass is a super hit. Probably because of the 2.0L Multijet Diesel with 6 speed manual gearbox. But the indian build quality is top notch.85% of the car is made by automated robotic arms. So it really feels solid. With in just 1 month of launching it got 8,100 booking and over 40,000 enquiry/half paid booking and still rising like hell. I don't know about FCA USA but in India it's a dream to them. It almost have 3 months waiting period!!

You can see the build quality by just looking at the crash pictures, FYI the Compass is a reject worldwide, the only reason Indians are buying this car is because it's got a 'Jeep' tag and it being an American company - the logic is that most Indians perceive it must be safe just because its a foreign company. www.drivespark.com/off-beat/jeep-compass-first-crash-in-india/articlecontent-pf74110-023455.html

Compass is built on FCA's well-sorted platform (stretched version) that is doing duties in Renegade and such. The overall package is way better than Tuscon and CR-V anyday. CX-5 though is still the best-in-segment, may be even better than some of its rivals from a segment above.
The KBB Producer says, "Zach, wake up...wake up! You have to review the Jeep Cpmpass, now." Zach says, "Huh?...sniffle...What?...snort, yawn...okay...roll 'em." Zach sure did look sleepy when the film started!
If the current Compass is considered a "subcompact" then what is the Renegade considered as? I would consider it a "tweener" It's in between the Renegade and Cherokee, it's not quite subcompact, but it's not quite compact either.
ManyRadomThings haha. So does every other big maunfacturer lol. Bmw , audi, toyota dump shit tons of cars in fleeets. Pretty much every big manufacturer dumps tons of cars in fleeets, except honda.
I wanted a Compase review and didn't find many so i thought I'd have to settle for George Kennedy from CarGurus staring into my soul. Then i found this thank god.
Okay Zach, been thinking of who you remind me of in your reviews and it finally hit me: you remind me of an old (bald) Jewish man from Long Island: "Honesty is such a lonely word, Everyone is so untrue, Honesty is hardly ever heard, And mostly what I need from you" - Billy Joel is the gentleman's name my friend, and this review confirmed my suspicions; you and he are one!
You are wrong there. A turbo is just something else to go wrong. It also puts more heat in the engine oil because oil is used to cool it and it is powered bt the exhaust system more heat ubder hood as well a loose loose situation for sure.
Well I own a Jeep Compass. The Dash board lighting does not auto turn off at night. If you are able to shut it off it has a great chance of coming back on. I have a case going on one now. My Jeep will not be in my hands for they say 45 days as the Programers figure a way to fix this issue. Until this is fixed I can not recommend this Vehicle!
This isn't the first review I've seen where the fact that a single off-roading jaunt didn't fuck up the alignment and tracking was lauded. Call me crazy, but that's a pretty low bar to clear. Is the expectation that you have to get a new alignment after every mountain trail? Whatever, I think the Compass does fill a niche pretty nicely, albeit a pretty narrow one.
i bought one brand new in february and now there is a loud grinding sound when you accelerate around 35-40mph some people are saying its in the differential or the transmission and when you turn the traction control off it stops but i new car shouldnt be making this noise like this...
Slow in the US? Buy one in Brasil like we did. The motor is a 2.0 with only 160HP. Total deception for us. We had a GM Captiva with a 2.4 motor 185 HP that was a hole other story!
My neighbor's Jeep Renegade fog lights turn on and off depending on which way she is steering. So I guess this has been carried over to the new Compass.
I got the trail hawk orange which I regret.. The engine is sooo sluggish. There are lots of gremlins with Uconnect , auto e-brake and speedometer lighting cluster issues. I have also noticed some poor construction on driver side carpet connecting to center console. The gas mileage is very poor with a 13.5 gallon tank coming around 20 mpg. For the price there are far superior selections available. I do NOT recommend this vehicle
So, it sounds like it has none of the space and comfort of a compact, and none of the efficency, low price, and ease of parking of a subcompact. I can't see where it slots into the market, unless it's intended to be like a Buick Encore or Mazda CX-3 for people who don't want to drive something so ridiculous-looking. But then why wouldn't you just get the increased space, better looks, and better value of a regular compact crossover that can still do some things offroad, like the Jeep Patriot, Toyota RAV4, or Subaru Crosstrek, since you're not getting any of the benefits of having a smaller car either way?
Hi there! Personally, I'd go with the Discovery. Here's an in-depth comparison for reference. www.kbb.com/compare-cars/features/2017-land-rover-discovery-421747-vs-2017-jeep-compass-420675/

im having the same problem i bought a 2017 new back in february and the noise started happening almost right away and now between 35-40 mph it makes a loud grinding noise people are saying if you turn the traction control off if stops the noise but it sucks when there is a noise coming from a brand new car

Man, they could have at least TRIED to make this look different than the rest of the Jeep lineup. It just looks like the body of a Cherokee with headlights from a Grand Cherokee. Not to say it looks bad, because it doesn't, but I can imagine how many owners of these will have to tell their friends that "No, it is NOT in fact a Grand Cherokee".
hahaha yeah their selling like crazy in india. The main advantage is the low price point. Number one...no it's not mediocre it's reliable and excels in ease of use, cargo room, fuel economy...things the matter in this type of vehicle. Compass blurs the line between compact and subcompact so there's an argument there. And Number two, styling is always subjective. I think the updated rav4 looks handsome. Your opinion is otherwise but that doesn't make it right.

why does he and the other host of kbb sounds the same when talking
The one I rented was great. No issues at all.
Compass is built on FCA's well-sorted platform (stretched version) that is doing duties in Renegade and such. The overall package is way better than Tuscon and CR-V anyday. CX-5 though is still the best-in-segment, may be even better than some of its rivals from a segment above.
it might not as sensible as the other offer from Japan but i kinda like the grand cherokee look

great review guys
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
so where does the compass fit in? sounds like it needs a compass to find its way wan wan...
It's only main competitors now is the Nissan Rogue Sport and the Subaru Crosstrek.
If the current Compass is considered a "subcompact" then what is the Renegade considered as? I would consider it a "tweener" It's in between the Renegade and Cherokee, it's not quite subcompact, but it's not quite compact either.
Charles allen jr I consider the renegade to be the replacement Cherokee. Since that car is a dud.
@@orkutfinance I look at the Renegade (Subcompact) Compass and Cherokee (Compacts) and Grand Cherokee (Midsize)
Weird size, crappy interior and bad reliability but I still want it...
It needs a Pentastar V6 .
since I know that the 4 cylinder in my compass is slow, most of the time I just floor it all the way.
And then it gives me a cute roar
How is it on the highway?
Remember how you drive it determines how long it will last. My guess is yours will see an early grave.
Excellent.
Nice review
Thanks for your support!
Kelley Blue Book ur welcome... Keep it up
I have one. If you don't care about fuel economy, this is a great car for the wife.
Despite this review, they'll sell a billion.
ManyRadomThings haha. So does every other big maunfacturer lol. Bmw , audi, toyota dump shit tons of cars in fleeets. Pretty much every big manufacturer dumps tons of cars in fleeets, except honda.
This new Compass is significantly nicer than the original Compass or Patriot. They offer adaptive radar cruise in other markets but not in the U.S.
Can you test drive the 6spd manual?
No comment KBB?

Throw a 1.8 turbo with like 210 hp power would be decent that's the only thing this needs for me to buy one.

hahaha yeah their selling like crazy in india. The main advantage is the low price point. Usually in India cars selling for 3X the US DOLLAR MSRP... for example a BMW 7 series would be $100K in America... but in India the same car is $300k.
But the compass is literally the same price India or America. Just converted currency. Jeep is taking a huge short term loss with this move trying to build their brand.
In India excise taxes increase the price 300%... so car manufacturers bring that cost to the consumer. Which is why the 7 series in india is $300k
Jeep is either taking on that cost themselves, and "subsidising" the customer to build their base so they launch their other models at the 3x normal price point eventually. If the Jeep compass was selling for 47 Lakhs Rupees or $75K no one would buy the car beyond the rich.
