  • One of the best and most effective exercises to increase speed and endurance in sambo or any combat sport. I don’t think it matters if we call it hammer or sledgehammer, it’s weight is more important. In this video I show you two options of work load: designed for endurance or strength.

    Sambo is a versatile sport because it has large amount of techniques in standing position as well as on the ground. Why can't you throw an opponent who's equal or stronger opponent? There are two main reasons. First - you're setting up and doing the throw wrong, and the second you're predictable and everyone knows your moves. In both cases your technique is flawed and something has to be changed. All progressive MMA fighters are incorporating sambo submissions. It's easily explainable due to limited time on the ground ( 2-5 seconds to catch and another minute to complete ). Sambists research the fastest and most effective ways to finish for years. Why does everyone want to finish fast? It's an opportunity to finish in style and preserve your energy. I know the taste of quick finishes like no other. 25 years in sambo, 13 World Championships in which i earned 2 golds, 4 silvers, 1 bronze and most importantly 90% of my victories happened before regulation time expired. I spent 20000 hours

    I built up to working with a 59 lb hammer (epic sledge from Stronger Grip) and I love the training and benefits from it. My best was 1000+ Reps with it and never experienced injuries or lower back issues. Granted I used a swing similar to what Bud Jeffries uses if you guys ever watched his videos on RUclips or on his Facebook page but that's what actually kept me from getting injured. The pendulum swing with a heavy ass hammer should only be used for strength purposes and more of a test of strength and not for pure conditioning style training. This hammer, I wouldn't do more than a few reps of no more than maybe 100 maximum if you're a pure strength nut.

      @@funkrates4778 look up Ryan Pitts Stronger Grip. on his website it's called the Epic Sledgehammer. it starts out at 26 lbs empty and with lead shot can be loaded to 100 lbs. mine now is at almost 73 lbs and have done 20 reps in 51 Sec with it.

      I don’t get it , you said your best in one session was 1000+ reps , then at the end you said you shouldn’t do more than a few reps at a time

    • @PowerAndMight1984
      @PowerAndMight1984 Год назад +1

      @@BeenDeliveredToday it's because at the time I wanted to test myself and see what was possible with it. I accomplished it and haven't even touched that number since with a hammer that heavy. The reason why I said to do no more than a few reps in comparison is because for most people, that's more than enough to even prove to themselves that it's possible. For me, it was an ego thing but in reality an extremely small percentage of people would even attempt a hammer that huge in the first place, even smaller percentage able to do reps. So the point is, unless you have a specific goal, it's not something one should do on a whim or frequently. I was lucky to accomplish that but I have no desire or the attention span to do it again.

    I started with a six pounds sledgehammer as a beginner. Four sets of twenty five fast reps each hand,rest for couple of minutes and one more round of 25x4 sets each hand. Then you can increase rounds slowly each week or more. I recommend for beginners, to start with a fairly light sledge to avoid injury. Don't start with more than 8 pounds sledge if you are a beginner

    ........ Idk, I have been chopping wood since I was like 11 and that is an improper way to swing a hammer, axe and ect.
    Now if you are swinging it that way to work your muscles a certain way which I hope, then please ignore my comment. Only problem is if you are doing it to work your muscles, that it can be bad for your lower back.

      @@CHUKDEPHATTE don't need to, you go purchase a 4 pound axe and try this and see how long you last.

      @@DMalenfant1 i reread my comment and it comes across as rude, it was not my intent. my point was I have recently purchased sledge hammers to tyre smash as part of my home workout. obviously i do not know the "proper" procedure hence watching videos and as far as i can see most videos the stance is like this, standing square on to the tyre and swinging the hammer down.

    I noticed he doesn't do the "pendulum" method, his method (without the "pendulum" swing) puts a lot of stress on your back, him not moving with the swings also another stress-factor, you need to be fluid & MOVE with each swing. A man's workout should also include common sense & taking the best care of your body. One aspect you need to consider when you workout for today is to remember YOU WANT TO COME BACK & WORKOUT TOMORROW, not be in pain. (I've learned that the hard way)

      Slight disagree. It seems like you reference macebell. Yes, I agree, rigid straining and moving like a street sign not well planted is overkill. But swinging with the weight can take out all the benefit. I say a weight you can control ALMOST perfectly. A stiffness, but a stiffness you don't have to kip in any part of the swing.

"Мёртвые души". ивошнее творчество литературное. вот для меня так же и спорт.
