  • No one should be incarcerated for being in a coma. 😡
“I got a technical violation for being in the hospital after getting hit by a drunk driver.”
Pennsylvania has the 5th highest people on supervision in the country. We’re working to change that.

There has to be a complete reform on our judicial system. The amount of recidivism is incredibly high. The amount of people who cannot obtain livable wages in a legal and safe manner is ridiculous. The fact that there is 21 male state prisons and 2 female state prisons in our state speaks volumes. There were more at one point, so it's good to hear the number has decreased, but still insane! Technical violations, such as failure to report, should not validate going back. There should be a plan in effect to rehabilitate back into society EFFECTIVELY, and should a MINOR violation occur, a program be put into place. Sorry this happened to you.

Something similar happened to a man I loved BILLIE WILLIAMS III and he passed away unexpectedly in prison at Sci Laurel Highlands on 10-1-2021. He was on probation and he Violated for not reporting. He didn’t report to probation because he had a pulmonary embolism and was sick and hospitalized. When he went infront of the judge in Lackawanna county, he penalized him for being sick. He had legit medical conditions. The judge sentenced him to 6 months in state prison. This happened in Lackawanna county, PA. He was sent to state prison. He went from Lackawanna County Jail to 2 other PA state correctional facilities ( for processing) & then he was sent to SCI Laurel Highlands. He had just gotten his green sheet and was waiting to come home.He was only 46 years old. He was also African American and now he’s dead. The warden called me on 10/1/2021 to tell me he passed away from a blood clot that went to his brain. He also had an underlying issue a brain tumor. His death could have been prevented if he was takin seriously and not sent upstate for something he could not have control over. He would write me letters saying if I don’t get out of here I won’t be coming home. It’s something I have never been able to get over. My only sister passed away on 3/31/2021 unexpectedly and then as I was trying to deal with losing her and only speaking to him on video chats and via phone call he passed away just a few months later.
