He could very well have been one of the many GI’s that would frequently hand out Chocolate bars to filipino children, including my dad who was just 6 at that time, I thank you for your service sir.

The US Army and the President wanted to bypass the Phillipines like they did many other Japanese held islands but McArthur talked Roosevelt into invading. He had made a promise to the Phillipine people that he would be back. At the cost of thousands of American lives..
While there is most definitely a argument to be made about a couple of islands that should have been by passed. Actually with out a doubt! The Philippines was not one of them.

Eternity will not be about any of us or what we have done. It will all be about Jesus Christ who died on a cross to save us from our sins. We all deserve hell and then the Lake of Fire that burns with sulphur and fire on Judgement day.
