This is the kit I used that I bought from amazon.com: www.amazon.com...
Just wanted you to know how much I and everyone else appreciates you and other people like you making these videos. I'm retired and live on a fixed income and I have saved a small fortune in repairing things myself by watching videos like this one. I replaced the tag lights on my 2009 E-320 Bluetech in less than an hour because of your video. Thanks again! And I'm a new follower!
Thank you so much for this video, I just did this on my 2009 W211 e63, the new LED ones are super bright, gives the car a more modern look at night!
Awesome, glad I could help! Keep making these cars we love looking good!
No way I would have figured all this out on my own. Not without breaking something. Thank you so much! This video helped me swap out my liscense plate lamps in under an hour. I kinda regretted not just getting bulbs when I was tackling this job but the end result is 👌 so I'd say it was worth it
Same LED light are working in MY2003. Installation process is exactly like in this video. Many thanks, it make my life easier ;-)
Pawel Lis Awesome! Great to hear, that’s why I make these videos. Side note: these LED housings are still to this day working.
I have bought a couple of brands of LED bulbs and they to start to blink after a couple of months and im tired of that, so it is more work but i think is worth it so i just bought this exactly model and i like that are more bright. I have ALL LED lights in and out of the car and i rather have the license plate more bright and my car looks amazing with better lighting that the newer models. I even have LED in the small mirror lights. Great video, really helpful!
Y IZ Y IZ Thanks! Yea, I haven’t had the best experiences with LED license plate bulbs, I always wanted to try these housings. They work great, hopefully yours do too!
How the interior look with white LEDs and the ambient lighting?
Awesome video! Thanks man. I couldn't figure it out and this walked me right thru it on a 2008 E350 sport. 🐐
I would have struggled for hours if it werent for this video. Thanks so much!
Very welcome! Glad it helped!
Appreciated, so helpful and detailed video. I replaced by myself, now they’re very bright.
Thanks a lot
Thanks for the install video, I'm going to do the job today. BTW, I noticed the Marlow Mercedes Werks frame. I have the same one om my car and have visited that shop also as I use to live on the peninsula. Thanks for the vid bro.
Awesome, glad it helps! Yes they are dear friends of mine I’ve know for many years. 👍
Dude you are awesome i saw youre video and it helped me alot ! Just finished replacind and it’s great ! Thanks for the video .
Your video helped me a lot! I just did this myself right now. Thank you :)
Blaž Režek Great! Happy my video could help!
I owe you beer Mercedes Tech. Thanks a bunch.
No problem! Glad I could help.
I drilled that plastic conver on a trunk to allow water to drop out , not sit and when you open trunk after rain no extra water dripping inside the trunk.
Ive a E320 2004 Wagon I want to change all bulbs to LED whats the advice mate? Can I also get the led fog lights?
I'm in the process of finishing up the editing for a video of full LED interior conversion on my sedan, should help you a lot with your wagon though. The videos I've already posted for headlights , parking lights and fog light for w211 should help a lot for the exterior stuff! Stay tuned as I will have this video done in the coming days.
Is this compatible to the Clk w209? :)
Thanks for the tutorial man ! that was helpful 👍
Glad to hear it! Your welcome!
Great lights...are the bulbs still working?
Danish Awan yes! They are still working as good as the day I installed them.
I just watched video today because i want to install them on my w211 i looked it up on amazon by your link and its only for merc C and B are the c class the same for E size and everything?
H7 bulbs are used for many different models of Mercedes
those LED license plates light fit also on E class models
@@mzee5533 The ones I put a link to are the exact ones I installed. Im pretty sure they said they were for E-Class when I bought them, but I wouldnt hurt to get a different pair on amazon that says is for E-Class.
Thank you from video
What did u use to counterhold the licence plate bolt??
You should be able to just press on the smooth head of the bolt with your thumb or something and screw out the nut on the back side. It should hold itself from spinning if you press on it because it’s in a square hole
@@MercedesTech mine spins, idk what to do anymore i’ve tried everything
@@banaani2249 that’s strange. If it has a smooth head then the hole may have gotten deformed. I’d probably try to do some sort of cut in the head with a dremel, saw blade or similar to make it resemble a Phillips or flat head screw I could then grab onto with a screwdriver to counter hold
are these normal good brightness or ugly overly bright like most cheap leds?
They’re pretty bright, but still working strong. Nothing cheap about them. Then again, I have no idea what they look like from the back because I’m always driving
Did you find a normal brightness version? I too am afraid the options available are going to be too bright and look bad
@@RWallyb No, But I put 2 layers of 35% window tint on it and the brightness is perfect. I guess 20% tint would look good too with 1 layer. It looks OEM and its so nice lol. Without it its just too bright. You could also search for canbus led sv8.5 bulbs at 37mm, just make sure you dont break the plastic holder.
Shit that’s a lot, would you have preferred to just change bulb afterwards or whole housing?
Allen 216 The bulb is definitely the recommended method, I just did this to see how well they work and show what’s involved. I’d recommend just changing the bulbs
@@MercedesTech it's not necesary to change all????,just changing the bulbs yes??????? Please tell me
Thank you so much dude!
No problem! You’re very welcome!
@@MercedesTech i was trying forever to get it out the hole, so you explaining taking the license plate and panel off came in clutch! My other lights in my car i just swapped bulbs. But you helped save me a bunch of figuring out time lol! Thank you again sir!
Hi, did you get any error message with these?
No
Thanx , job done . But germans from Mercedes chose the hard way to build it. IT was very simple just take out two scrue and thats It.
How do i remove this with a s211 (kombi)
From what I can see I don’t think it does come off. I have never removed one from a liftgate, only truck lids. It would probably be easier to just replace the bulbs on that model
Where did you ordered them from send me the link pleaes
Link is is the description and still works. Its on amazon.
Is it the same for the CLS w219 ?
I wouldn’t be able to say for sure, but very possibly similar. They usually all come off in this kind of way.
Nice video. Are these bulbs still working on your vehicle?
Albi AD yes they are still working as of right now
No error messages?
MAN UP no error messages
You didn't have to do all that, you can pull out the housing with a small phillips screwdriver and replace the housing in 2 minutes tops. Unless they changed something in 08, that's how it is for 03 to 06 w211
Yea ‘08 would be the facelifted version of the w211. Definitely different inside and out
@@MercedesTech But I swear the housings are the same.. hmm
@@anythingbenz4005 I honestly don’t know what a pre refresh looks like so I couldn’t say
Mine is late 02' model and I had to pull the license plate and the panel down to be able to replace the housing, all is exactly as in the video, weird stuff ...
yeah its a stupid design but worth it, the less look much better. @@siveric32
Nope fuck that 🤣 im doing the bulb route sending mine back too much work for nothing very informative video though 👍
What a pain in the ass. There is no other way to do it. I tried it myself on my w211 2007, they are exactly like yours. One thing to consider is that the warning triangle holder is removed by pushing the small plastic bracket in the middle which is pointing left and then you have to push/strafe everything left.
Just fit an led buld and don't damage the car 😉
And the point of all this work is that your license plate is lit up. Why bother? Do you want to make it easier to receive speeding tickets?...
J Hettema I don’t enjoy the yellowish/ amber light color, so I wanted a full led conversion for my cars lights. These especially aren’t much of a problem since they only shine down. But you are right, it probably makes it easier to see your license plate. But then you could just get a custom plate that look like “NMNMMW” 😂
Два часа свет меняет индеис
Lmao u can take out four screws in light covers n strait head n pull them out in five mins tops
For some unknown reasons,Merecedes just has to make everything so difficult.😖
This model was released in 2002. I don't think they were thinking 20 years in advance about how they are going to make it easier for users to be able to change the housing, let alone convert to LEDs. Mercedes designed it perfectly for them to be able to efficiently install them on the production line. They weren't designed to be easily replaced. What was designed to be easily replace was the light bulbs. After owning and working on my own w211 models for years I've realised how easy it is to replace most things on the car because of how mercedes designed the car
Too much work
pgsboy exactly why I recommend just doing the bulb swap
Mercedes Tech I ended up doing it anyway thanks to this video . Best video I watched ! Also because the led s are too bright and wanted a more natural look I blacked out some of the leds so it’s not as bright and looks more oem
pgsboy In glad the video helped you. I might need to do something to darken mine a little. Definently looks aftermarket due to how bright they are. But I will probably just keep them like this for a while till I get tired of it.
Mercedes Tech since they are already installed you can just use some plastic and frog tape and a spray can of black paint or even easier yet take a small brush with dark paint and just paint them that way . I’ll see if I could post a picture of mine at night I haven’t checked them out last night yet as it was raining
@@pgsboy I have some spare window tint I might throw on mine
