Hey Tom, I heard you have a Cycad at home. Be aware that they are highly toxic to Dogs if they eat them. My sons Husky, when it was a pup, took a liking to the fresh light green fronds when the plant was having a growth spurt. A weekend Vet stay, and $1500 later the Dog survived, but it was touch and go for some time. I never knew this, and Ive had them all my life at various places where I've lived. Hope this helps someone.
So when drunk around the fire, carrying on, the Backpack wasn't misplaced, instead the "Dingo did it". C'mon mate I think I've heard that one somewhere before. 😜🤣
My wife always gives me a VERY hard time for keeping EVERYTHING I value most on my person, when I am out. Not in the car, not on/in the bike. With that said, I never have anything of significant value stolen or lost.
@Bob Sacamano No they do, they just don't chortle a business balls for selling an inferior product. You don't spend $200+ on a piece of kit to then have to repair it the first time you use it...
10 years living in the NT mainly Alice Springs, yeah basic rules camping. Yes if it's not the wild dogs/dingos or bored kids in town. You gotta keep an eye on your gear 24/7. Sad as it's become, why we moved away.
Donkeys wild all over the NT. Got a place in Katherine called donkey camp where there used to be donkey yards. A couple break loose don't take em long to breed like rabbits.
There’s no room for pc bullshit when things are taken at two seperate camps. Someone’s gone through your bags and taken the back pack. But we’ve seen the trip up until now so spoiler alert you must get it handed in right? Another great vid man
Hey Tom, due to its light weightness, would you buy a husky 701, if the 250 died, I have seen you ride with the guy on a 701, how is the reliability, realise the maintenance intervals a little less. Appreciate your thoughts.
That sucks major balls, but seriously though, didn't you have some sort of tracker inside, and also some dingo deterrent, like wolf/lion piss or something...
Its sad the times we now live in that you can't even ride n camp and leave ya gear at camp have some dinner with beers because some low life seems entitled to go though people's property. The dingo now thats just upsetting possessions come and go but memory's cards last forever.
Airtag won't work out in the middle of nowhere, it needs to connect to a phone (any phone), so someone will have to walk close to the backpack for it to ping a location. Of course it can help if you're close by it and you miss it, but if it's taken more than a few meters into the bush, it's toast.
Yep, dingo stole my sausages on Fraser Island in the 80's It literally opened a latch on the esky. The same trip I saw a dingo bite a girls leg. Bastards...
Haven't read all the comments but did anyone tell him that his backpack was more likely stolen.. his time would be better spent taking a look at the other people staying at the camp site.
Yeah but other people won't necessarily steal your pasta and drop it 30m from camp. Tom states in the video that the ranger also mentioned dingo's taking stuff so you can quite confidently say the dingo's have taken it :)
Unless the dingo has an apple device.. no.. they require apple devices near them to send their location. And even then.. That apple device needs to be connected to the internet in order to send that location.. in the outback... so even if you'd stick an iPhone in the backpack too, it wouldn't necessarily work. Only within xx meters would the AirTag be findable using bluetooth, perhaps 10 meters or so.. so again, not the most useful.
Surely a dingo wearing a backpack would be easy to spot
Deserves to be pinned
Or a dingo wearing a backpack carrying a baby.
Multiple carriers
🤣🤣🤣
Being that this is part 12, that dingo must have dropped the backpack back at Toms house and claimed the $500.
I´m glad the dingo uploaded the first 11 parts of the Great Northern Adventure :D

So sorry about the back pack loss, you put a lot of work into entertaining us. You’re attitude to it was a good lesson to us all, cranky but calm😢😊
So when drunk around the fire, carrying on, the Backpack wasn't misplaced, instead the "Dingo did it". C'mon mate I think I've heard that one somewhere before. 😜🤣
Well, considering we already watched the start of this its safe to say that you did get the backpack back which is good
Probably found by someone and returned later.
@@HRRRRRDRRRRR maybe the dingo saw Tom's note and felt bad and turned itself in
"Witch or Which" 😁Yes maybe it was the good Witch that used a spell and got the backpack back. 😂
the dingo took over this RUclips channel, and has been pretending to be Tom all this time

Good video! Dunlop’s D606 is my go to on all of my single cylinder bikes and the 903RR for my twin cylinder bike.
Running D606 rear and D606f front, road legal and are perfect for my Wr450f, im doing
30% road
70% dirt
The front D606f is better than expected

Go further north in the NT on the HWY U stay in locked compounds. Some interesting places. Lived up there for 6 years.
So whats the story with recovering your footage? How'd you get it back?

"A Dingo took my backpack!"
The next minute you are the scenery🤣
Dingo must have stolen Nerb's last 14 days of memory cards too!
I just love that joey in the intro! I didn't know they made a noise like that.
did ye give the drones a go at searching for the backpack?, understand it's all in the past now...
Yes we did!
Welcome back to riding with friggin’ Tom
Love the content mate keep up the good work in 2023 🍻
Rather than look around trhe scrub I would have focused on the small caves in the foothills. Did it get returned ?? A Dingo with a conscience maybe ?
Na dingo just holding out for the ransom money
Had stitching come loose on a brand new Nelson rig bag when installing it for the first time, they replaced it no dramas with the new one 11:15

Considering his history with the KTM 690 I'm not sure he'd be keen on getting a Husky 701, but who knows.
I just realized even though im sure he found it, wouldn't the garmin show the backpacks location?
That sucks major balls, but seriously though, didn't you have some sort of tracker inside, and also some dingo deterrent, like wolf/lion piss or something...
I bet you have found your backpack since we saw the footage from the beginning of the trip.
I can tell you that he didnt start editing until we got back to melbourne!

Hi Tom & Crew
What a piss off I feeling for you Tom.
Stay safe Love the videos
As an Aussie I've tried to like motoz but the big GSA destroys the rallz in less than 3k. MT21 and d606 are my go to on the WR.
Surprised the petrol wasn't stolen at the campsite ahaha.

Tom bought a Ranger
Not just any ranger!
@@RidingWithTom a blue 1 with a petrol donk
Wasn't a 2 legged one was it ?
In Theory if the inreach is in the backpack, garmin or the person you put in as emergency contact, could ping its location
Only if its turned on
Should have used the drone to look for the bag.
The dingo ate my backpack
Keep some large bricks in your backpack so it's too heavy for 'em to carry.
I don’t understand why you are not tracking the I reach. Surely it is powered up!
He said in the video that he doesn’t turn it on until he needs it.
Time to hide an Airtag (or similar makes) in the important luggage for dingo theft or an accidental drop during a single track.
Airtag won't work out in the middle of nowhere, it needs to connect to a phone (any phone), so someone will have to walk close to the backpack for it to ping a location. Of course it can help if you're close by it and you miss it, but if it's taken more than a few meters into the bush, it's toast.

I trained those dingos well. Making so much money on eBay! How insane that they steal bags and walk off with them.
Dude you’re a beast
I havent done it with mine yet, but could you have tracked the location of the inreach?
I always leave mine off :(
does any guys u ride with have youtube?
doesnt help now, but perhaps put an Airtag or similar in ur backpacks in case happens again :(
Surely Garmin can locate the Inreach assuming it's switched on?
Sure it's not on your back Tom...... Just saying 🤔
A dango ate my baby....
Apple Airtag or something similar would have helped .... maybe?
I have AirTags on EVERYTHING now

This! It's well known that the Australian outback is full of Apple devices, shit, even the dingos have iPhones.

The second lot of dingos that opened everyone's language were clever to do that
