Ambush Bug is one of my favourite DC characters and I would love to see more of his adventures, he has yet to receive his proper time in the spotlight. DC released several T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents series between 2011 and 2013 (not the original Wood team) and then IDW took over for a few years with their own titles. But the 1984 five-issue series by Deluxe Comics, with writing by creators like Roy Thomas and Keith Giffen and art by such greats as George Perez, Jerry Ordway and Murphy Anderson, is the stand-out for me (other than Wood's originals). That 1st Issue Special's cover sure looks like Dick Giordano to me. I remember reading years ago that the issue was originally to be called "Police Woman" but Angie Dickinson's show premiered before the story could be published so DC had to rename it. The Wolverine issue is an example of foil done right: it enhances the cover image rather than overwhelming it like so many other foil covers. I think of Dan Clowes' work as something of a bridge between the original Underground Comix movement of the 60s and more traditional comics (though not necessarily superhero comics). Bob Burden's The Flaming Carrot and the Mysterymen also fall into this area for me, although Burden's creations lean more towards traditional superheroes only so that he can satirise the capes-and-tights crowd.
I'm working my way through movies from 1953. I started with the Oscar nominees but have moved far beyond that. 1953 has color and black and white movies. Hondo has some great 3D scenes. Always something interesting.
Wilson with Woody Harrelson is also a Clowes adaptation. Was lucky enough to meet him a couple of times - he signed my Complete Eightball collection at SD Comic Con
What A Great Video My Friend. And I stopped and Thought Wait A Second Im Retired and In Comics Full time now Holy crap. Lol ... wanna Make a Show With you Soon ... THANKS AGAIN FOR THE GREAT CONTENT
I’ve seen and love the movie Ghost World, but haven’t read the source material, unfortunately. It’s in my stack of To Read. I’ve also seen the Crumb doc you talk about - that is a great film
John Rosenberger did some amazing romance covers and art and he did many Lois Lane stories. He was around for a very long time with a ton of great work
You surprised me today: Dean Martin never received a solo DC series, the Martin & Lewis comic just switched to Jerry Lewis. Also, John Rosenberger was the regular Lois Lane penciller late in her run on into Superman Family. Hundreds and hundreds of credits overall, mostly for ACG but also DC romance. You no doubt have most of those Lois issues. Also, in an earlier vid you mentioned DC "brought back" The Unexpected -- when actually the title was published continually from 1956 on, and the horror change came before the minor title change dropping "Tales of.."
Long Island is a hot bead for collecting don't forget comic conventions were invented by two under age kids in 1964 . Stan Lee and Jack Kirby lived here on Long Island.
Ghost world is definitely not for everyone but for those who like movies like Juno or Clerks. Some parts are a little cringy like the relationship with Steve Buccemi. If you like character study kind of movies then this is for you but if someone is looking for the Hollywood type then this is not for them.
Thanks again for coming to our show! Just an FYI there are 2 ATM's right as you enter for next time! Hope to see you again on May 19th!
Ghost World is a phenomenal film. I must have seen it at least half a dozen times.
What did you think of "Neighbors"?
John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd.

From what I remember transformers, G.I., Joe, and thundercats were more of an afterschool show.

This was a great episode, Jim! "Ghost World" is one of my favourite movies ever!

Eightball, Hate, Love & Rockets, Usagi, Omaha, Cud, Black Hole... Fantagraphics released a lot of gold in the early to mid 90's.

When are you going to look at cave paintings on your movie watching journey?? That's all that is left!
