This Europe Car Driving video features a relaxing drive in summer from Bad Mitterndorf Austria in Styria to St Gilgen and Fuschl near Salzburg Austria in the Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria. This is the most scenic road you take to Salzburg Austria and it's a beautiful drive in relaxing scenery with rolling hills and great views of the Alps. The drive takes place during sunset and passes Bad Aussee, Bad Ischl, St Gilgen and Fuschl am See. The road is also known as the Romantikstrasse, or the Romantic Route.
The Salzkammergut is a resort area located in Austria, stretching from the city of Salzburg eastwards along the Alpine Foreland and the Northern Limestone Alps to the peaks of the Dachstein Mountains. The main river of the region is the Traun, a right tributary of the Danube. The name Salzkammergut translates to 'salt demesne', Kammergut being a German word for territories held by princes of the Holy Roman Empire, in early modern Austria specifically territories of the Habsburg Monarchy. The salt mines of Salzkammergut were administered by the Imperial Salzoberamt in Gmunden from 1745 to 1850. Parts of the region were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
Bad Mitterndorf is a town in Salzkammergut in the Austrian state of Styria. Situated between Salzburg and Graz, it is a popular winter sports resort and also as a location for walking and cycling in the summer. Bad Mitterndorf is the site of two health spas with thermal baths, an outdoor swimming pool and other health amenities, cafés and leisure areas. The town hosts a children's club during the holidays. Bad Mitterndorf is also the location of one of the world's five ski flying hills, Kulm. The town is well placed for excursions to Hallstatt, Altaussee and its May narcissus festival, Bad Ischl and the Kaiservilla, and to Salzburg, 95 km away.
