you're the kind of person who'd scream "MASTERPIECE" after the first time listening to a Death Grips record. compared to many relatively known stuff released over the years this thing kinda feels mediocre
@@vladdenysenko7822 Agree, Death Grips is a piece of shit for baby edgelords. Their side project The I.L.y's is the only thing acceptable they have done. But Phuture Doom is great, there is no comparision
Came here after listening to Clown Core and searching for similar stuff, never expected to find a god damn masterpiece! It definitely has an epic apocalyptic vibe that sounds really lovecraftian to me and i dig it. I also dig the Prodigy influences in Neodrome, but most of all i dig the fact that it's all cohesive. Music is so evocative and the songs are so cursive i started imagining a story, could see how in Helas, for example, dark clouds shadow the last rays of a dying sun to mark the beginning of a storm that culminates in Peste Noire (black death) in a black torrent that abruptly ends , skies clear to reveal the silhouette emerging from the depths. Then schism protocol 1 and 2 knocked my socks off, album ends with the tenebrous Neptune so heavy it can only be an ode to Cthulhu himself in all its majesty and the eerie excavation which furthers the mystery. How come this only has 50k views man, it deserves millions.
I think they just had shit marketing. I mean don’t get me wrong, the marketing was extremely cryptic and creative, like literal cypher puzzles that led to a hunt for a totem of their logo in the middle of the woods that had exclusive merch buried beneath it. Like something you’d see from Aphex Twin or the Mr Robot show runners back when they were releasing hackable sites that revealed easter eggs about the plot. That shit is mad cool, but it only draws a certain type of crowd and if that’s mostly all you’re putting out there, it’s likely you’re not going to get the attention you deserve. I also don’t think they played that many live shows, which is probably the best way to garner attention as a new band. The live shows I’ve seen had very underwhelming audiences too, so maybe they just played to the wrong crowd too many times, idk. Not to mention how anon they are. Who knows, maybe they’ll return one day. I really really hope they do, because this album was absolutely incredible and I NEED more.
It's a shame both how incredibly underrated they are but also how for this last album they sabotaged themselves by not uploading this on a single streaming platform, not even bandcamp. it's like they're making it as hard as they can for people to discover them. this had a crazy ass borderline genius promotional campaign but it's mostly wasted if you just sell mp3's and cds on your own website. idk, I just don't get it. this is still a masterpiece of an album, and it really does deserve more recognition
In a interview he said "I’d like to play on the very last show Dillinger Escape Plan plays. It would be fun if Phuture Doom also played" when asked "If you could be part of any 3-band line-up who else would you have on the bill? One band above you and one below"
