Thank you for going to old Winchester hill. This was a favourite walk for our family for many years.( living far away now) It always felt like a pilgrimage, maybe we had lived there in a past life.!
One of my favourite parts of the South Downs Way. Just down the hill to the West is the beautiful Meon Valley with its clear chalk streams and further to the East - the forest of the Queen Elizabeth Country Park.....and the whole area is a maze of narrow country roads.
Richard and Kevin, work so well together, lovely watching them stroll around together. I like your gimble action Kevin all beautifully filmed by Richard.
There is a narrow path underneath the yew wood. If you walk along it and get to the middle of it. Shout "bogies" loudly it echos around the valley its an amazing echo chamber i discovered it shouting at my children to slow down 🤣 so much fun I always wonder if iron age fellows did just the same.
excellent record of the monument can be found on historic England..worth read if ones interested in Archeology and history relating to this rather pleasant location.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1017899
What a jolly jaunt! You two work so well together.
I am sure we shall do more - thanks Nigel!

Did the smaller fort walk the other day, thanks for the preview.
Only a few miles from where I work and never been there, but will do now. Stunning views. Keep up the great work.
Definitely worth a walk up there, Roger.
Very interesting. It reminds me of the old Indian burial mounds that you can find around certain parts of the US.
Oh right - that is interesting. I dodn't know that! Thanks.
Excellent Richard & Kevin ! Lovely to watch on St Georges Day. Sting Spider loves history & put his horned helmet on to watch !
So pleased you enjoyed it!
Super video, I want to add that to my hillfort collection

On a birdy note: Chiffchaff (song) in the carpark and (call) under the yews. It really is Spring!
Ooooh thanks for the birdy notes.
I did enjoy that, well done.
That pit at 11:25 was interesting, I do reckon it was as a result of explosives testing.
It may well have been - I don't know enough to say. :) Thanks for watching as ever.
