Greetings from Uganda. Thanks for the video. Everytime I watch a rabbi teach books of the bible, I get deeper understanding on the texts. It brings life to the meaning on the texts. Makes me wonder how much more I need to study the word...

True, I think what you mean is vapor but i got the point. I am not a bible fan although I was raise as Roman Catholic in a protestant neighborhood and muslim neighbor. Solomon is a wise mam and his knowledge came from heaven. I would say that he is very accurate with his words and to examine the man's words is not a simple task.. But as humans we always need to examine it for our own meaning so other can have a guide. Also those words came from the Holy Spirit it's really a very delicate line, a line I don't wanna tread. Anyhow, humans always wanted to find the meaning of life because all of us is lost. The message is very simple " Everything is like a smoke, pleasure is pointless in this world. We all are mortal therefore, worship God and God alone. Put your faith in God and God alone. " We have soo many distractions today that too little time is devoted to God. But I don't want to preach this, millions of preachers say this no one listen. I myself can say that today this is next to impossible because I have to give up everything I am in the society and everything I own and possess and there is no visible reward in the horizon. For me, for me I have no problem giving up what i possess since I don't really have much. It's the temptation of going back to the society that worries me. Society is the temptation that is very deceiving in a birds eye view. Funny coz we are hit with psychologically daily which is invisible and which leads us to sin daily. We are also hit with Karma which is also invisible which dictates that its bad to do bad things. Faith in God is also hard to have but by definition faith is " Believing in what you hope for and being certain in things we do not see. ". What affect us much is all invisible, God does exist so it is right to put personal time to God, it is also proper to worship God.. Give to God what is to God for it is right, And do it in secret. I think this is what King Solomon means. We will not find the meaning of life here on earth, for it is simply not here. The meaning of life is the giver of life a thought we cannot accept. I wanna share my supper conversation with my aunt Belle - Moses is loved by God, in Moses journey he made a single mistake and that cause him destination of the journey as punishment. My aunt said " God is strict but merciful, God still let the water flow ( a miracle ) out of the rock, Moses disobeyed God's simple command by hitting the rock. Moses seen the promise land but he did not set foot on it. It must have hurt him so much as the leader of the tribe... Disobedience is the fall of Lucifer too.. To conclude Solomon is right with the text, its best to leave the words as it is.

When i study the old testament i always try to look back into the original language which is hebrew. In spanish and english some words lose translation and some sayings or figures of speech can't be translated properly. My verse topic is Ecl 12:1 that the joy comes through serving the Lord

Thank you Rabbi. "Vanity." It's like impermanence... vapor? puff of smoke? Thank you Rabbi.... very enlightening. I liked your explanation.

@gracemere101 Thank you for your comments, and for your study of Eccelsiastes. If people study this book then life is not "vanity of vanities" but the opposite. Thank you.

why do you pronounce ת as "s." Not saying you are wrong. I've just always heard it pronounced as "t" or "th."

Rabbi is Ashkenzy and pronounces per their Hebrew. Sephardic Jews would use the hard T sound for Tav.
