Its the makita disc sander. Everything you need comes in the box. You wont be able to use it on a lead based home though, no shroud or vac attachment available that I know of.
How do u change out plastic disk to use a stick on disk pads which they have for more variety if 100, 120, 150, 180 stick on pads u cannot find these smoother gtir pads that work with standard disk supplied with the machine
Your grit it to heavy for the job the lower the grit number the more heavy duty it is 36 and below. and if you touch bare wood to it it will grind the wood badly. Use heavy grits to remove bad paint don't go further after removing the paint it's not to smoothen the wood. If you want to smooth out the wood use a grit that is 50 or 60+ the higher the number the better it smoothens the wood. And check if the grit has melted paint on it if it does try removing it if you can't change the grit. The melted paint acts as part of the grinding since it's above the surface of the grit it will mark the wood badly.
This is an orbital sander, well known for leaving swirl marks,. Try using a random orbital afterwards. The randomness of the orbit is to prevent leaving swirl marks while sanding.
@@1joshua This is a rotary tool. Neither orbital or random. Orbital means tiny circles regardless if it is rotating or is stationary. For example there are square orbital sanders
@@okeefepainting1023 when you get better at disk sanding , maybe you can use this brown 24 grit disks thats available here in so-cal . If you know whats up you wont even have to orbital sand it after
I have several of these sanding machines, love them !!! I am a new painting business owner out of Massachusetts. Any help on estimating projects? I have been having a little issue with coming up with an accurate system to use on estimating exterior and interior projects...
I use PEP cloud paint estimating. They have some standard production rates which you can use until you've recorded your own. The best way to record your own is to measure lineal ft or square ft of the surface youre working on and then write down how long it takes to get it done. Estimate Rocket is also a pretty popular estimating software. Estimating exteriors is challenging though, there's a lot of variables.

Would a makita 7" dust shroud allow for the 7" pad while still allow feathering?
Amateur painter here. I have this sander and often get swirl marks in the wood. How do you avoid this? Thanks.

Use a [random orbital sander] to remove the swirl marks

What grit do you typically use for sanding siding?
We typically use 50 grit

We typically use 50 or 60 grit as well. Tried the wagner paint eater recently. Not bad at all 👍🏻
I've used this for 30 years. Forget scraping. Use a 16 grit disc. It's way more aggressive and you blast out the prep. Yes, 16 grit.
what kind caulking do you use for house siding?
We typically use Power house from Sherwin Williams or Big stretch
