The cancel culture in korea is so dangerous. All the hard work of someone's entire life goes to waste just because someone said something bad about them. This really scares me. People judging the actors and idols too much is what is causing idols to commit suicide.
And in my country and many other western countries, the celebrity can do drugs, sleep around, make girls pregnant, abuse, and still act in movies or make music. Of course it becomes a scandal in the media, but the celebrity doesn't get completely canceled from his career.

I remember this issue with Kim Hyun Joong. Same shit like this, he's getting really famous after Boys Over Flowers and Playful Kiss. Then his ex said something about him abusing her and something about a baby or miscarriage. It was all dismissed for lack of evidence and it was said that the ex was lying. But even if actor's name was cleared the Koreans didn't forgive him. When he made a drama comeback I read some comments from Koreans saying that they would boycot the drama and would never ever support him. It sucks, he's really talented and popular back them.

The more I hear about this woman, the ex, the more annoyed I get at her. Originally I was just ticked she ruined a great drama for me, now I'm starting to really hate her. Some of the stuff being said that she did, it's emotional abuse. I think the only time I've hated a celebrity's ex so much is Johnny Depp's ex, and there's real parallels there too! She also started out accusing of him of doing to her, exactly what we later found out was her doing to him.

@@agnila6078 the original comment that the ex girlfriend made should have been private because it wasn't true, but if it had been true i would have agreed that she needed to speak out about it in order for people to know what kind of person seonho is. After seonho's fans get enough information to be able to make a descision about being his fan or not supporting him anymore, the rest of the issue should be kept private. There only needs to be a bare minimum of facts for the fans to be able to decide if they want to stan or not. Since it's been cleared that he's innocent, now the rest of the issue is a personal one and the public doesn't need to know about it.

And her name got mentioned when the issue was released. because of it, many seonho fans attacked her. alongside it, many people started cancelling him. if he apologized, he can protect Mr. Choi's image, but if he didn't and defended himself, only misery will come to his ex. Which is why I said he must've really loved her, to go all the way and apologize.

When I first heard about this I decided to wait and see what information would come out. The actor's ex tried to destroy his career by lying about him. She said that he was angry and unsupportive when she told him that she was pregnant. But he was actually supportive and not angry. She also lied about lots of other things. She was seeing/meeting other guys while in a relationship with him. The woman also saw orehr guys while she was married to her ex husband. Since she was seeing other guys while in a relationship with the actor, I think that it's very possible the baby wasn't his. This situation should've been dealt with privately instead of being made public.
Ruining someone's life to try and get them back is insane. I hope he gets a good lawyer and sues her. Let's see how she likes being exposed publicly and pay for her actions.

if you ask me, the kpop industry could use an age shift upward. the current generation of idols is getting younger and younger (it's not uncommon for 14- or 15-year-olds to debut now) at a time mental health is at its most vulnerable. when you couple that with the notoriously high rate of attrition in kpop (with most groups not lasting past the 2 year mark), it may bring about a situation where the fans collectively place a higher value on aging celebrities. and it's just as well; the industry has always pushed aside some of the most talented and beloved acts in favor of less developed, less experienced idols because the fans want "freshness." maybe what we need is to appreciate and preserve the entertainers who have earned their place instead of catering to the attention span of teenagers.
